Vincent Kompany ended the season with an FA Cup winners’ medal tucked safely in his wash bag as he left the City dressing room in the bowels of Wembley Stadium.
A third-place finish in the Premier League could yet mean he ends next season with a Champions League winners’ medal.
Kompany wasn’t short of personal prizes either. He collected both the Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards at City’s end-of-season do as well as impressing his fellow professionals enough to land a place in the PFA team of the year.
But with attentions already turning to next season’s assault at home and abroad, Kompany’s avalanche of accolades shows no sign of abating.
The big Belgian has been nominated for the MBNA Northern Sportsman of the Year award where he will battle it out with Lancashire’s England paceman Jimmy Anderson, golfer Lee Westwood, cyclist Mark Cavendish, Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan, Northampton Saints’ Chris Ashton, Wigan Warriors’ Pat Richards and champion jockey Paul Hanagan.
City’s first cup winning side for 35 years has also been nominated for team of the year along with Premier League champions and Champions League finalists United, while Sir Alex Ferguson and Roberto Mancini will fight it out for the manager of the year award.
Trafford AC athlete Jessica Ennis leads the list of nominees in the Sportswoman of the Year category.
The reigning World and European heptathlon champion was nominated for the Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year in January, eventually losing out to American downhill skier Lindsey Vonn.

Best centre-half in the PL. No question!
One award he should get ,the captaincy of Manchester City,a player who leads by example a true professional and a role model for the younger members at the club.
I might be wrong, but surely the manager of the year is Mancini !!
After all he was told constantly by the 'experts' in the game that -
You couldn't be successful throwing the cash at mediocre players.
He wouldn't get the 'mercenarys' to gel.
We would be in the relegation zone by christmas.
He wouldn't get into the champions league and would finish 5th.
He would get beat by Utd in the semi's and then get beat again by Stoke in the final and many many more.
So after proving all these 'experts' wrong on every occasion, finished the season with a 50%+ win average, finished with 6 wins in the last 7 and four clean sheets in the last 4 games.Winning our 1st piece of silverwear for 35 years whilst constantly being told by the 'experts' that he was a clown.
For making the world realise, with his fantastic vision, that Komps was a stunningly brilliant Centreback and having faith in Joleon and proving that he is a classy defender.
For putting Joe back in net at the start of the season when it would have been easier to start with Shay.
For having the balls to not put up with any rubbish from the stars that he has farmed out on loan and eventually moving them on.
I could go on and on but your get my drift :)
And i don't expect Mancini to win it but i am cynical but i can live in hope
Here's to you and my beloved City, Mr Mancini ,may your love affair be long and fruitful.
Not much opposition there, looks like another award for Vinnie.
I'm sure this award is up there on Vinny's to do list!
If he wins it it will be well deserved.
The CITY team are great Men and Vincent is one of them. I'm just thinking back to when I wanted Vincent to use his armband as a snood to prise over Emmanuel's head.
Could end up with a Champons league medal !!!! Well I've been a City fan for over 60 years now and what this guy is writing is crap !! Only if he signs for Barcalona!
