Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini’s summer transfer plans will be affected by Carlos Tevez’s final decision.
The Argentinian is mulling over his future, with a
big-money move to Real Madrid a possiblity for the striker.
If Tevez decides to leave, then the City boss is likely to respond by making a £40m move for Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero.
Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is also in the frame to sign Emmanuel Adebayor, who spent the second half of last season on loan at the Bernabeu.
Adebayor has stated that he wants to stay in Spain and Madrid were given an option to buy him for around £12m as part of the loan deal agreed in January.
But if they decide not to take up that option, AC Milan are interested in a deal for the Togolese striker. Mancini is looking to clear the decks of fringe players as he prepares for a tilt at the Premier League title next season, with Adebayor one of a host of players set to depart.
Blackburn have expressed an interest in buying Roque Santa Cruz, having taken him on loan in January, but have been unable to agree a fee.
Bayern Munich are also going cool on their bid to sign Jerome Boateng, who has struggled to adapt to the Premier League since his £10.5m move from Hamburg last summer. Although Bayern have made contact with the Blues, the two clubs are a long way apart in their valuation.
It is understood that the German giants have offered only around £7m, while City want at least twice that amount.
Despite that stalemate, City are pressing on with their attempts to sign centre-back Gary Cahill from Bolton, with Nedum Onuoha likely to go the other way in part-exchange.
What should City do? Have your say.

DO NOT BUY GARY CAHILL
HE IS SO UNBELIEVABLY ADEVAGE AND IS JUST WAITING FOR US TO PAY 20 MILLION FOR HIM TO WARM THE BENCH. JUST BUY SOME FOREIGN LAD FOR 20 MILLION AND GIVE HIM A GO. WE GOT LESSCOT WHO IS PROGRESSING NICELY AND WHO KNOWS BOETANG MAY JUST DECIDE TO NOT TO BE THE WORST DEFENDER IN THE WORLD NEXT SEASON.
BUY AGUARO , SNIDER AND A LEFT BACK ANY LEFT BACK JUST NOT KOLAROV PLEASE NOT KOLAROV
CTID
No to Cahill, as he's inferior to Verhongten. I'd frankly rather keep Nedum than pay for Cahill, despite Ned's arrogantly snarky attitude. He may be clueless, but he is a very good defender, in my book.
Iniesta, Aguero, Mata and Bale please
I can't believe we'd go for Aguero.
Maradona (a man who has described english footballers as orangutans) is his father in law and he also knows Tevez well.
Tevez has stated that he doesn't like life in Manchester.
Aguero will be exactly the same.
This is more trouble than its worth - we want players who want to play for the club!
There really is NO truth to the Cahill rumour is there?! Its clear his agent is putting a few quid about to push him for a move. He would be a crap option for City and only as good as 5th choice CB Kolo Toure (Kompany, Lescott, Boateng, Boyata, Kolo.....)
If he arrives at City i'll be seen in a Man Utd top - neither of which will ever happen!
Let's not mess about this year, goals win games / titles - Ignore all the chat about could be's and go for guaranteed goals - Ronaldo and Messi. We've wasted more on dross over the past two seasons than they would cost. Time to get serious!
I think that we've got enough good players at the club to go forward next season. Lets get rid of the fringe players. There are some at the club who know they'll never get in to the first team who we've signed over the last couple of seasons. We've just won the fa cup and qualified for the champions league. Bobby Manc knows this too, i'm pretty sure there will be a lot of playin staff out, rather than players in. Look at the squad now in comparison to three years ago, massive difference. This season is going to be potentially one of the best. Lets enjoy it people.
If you ask me Bolton would be onto a good one if they got Nedum and cash for Cahill. Personally I don't rate Cahill as a better defender than Onuoha. Nedum supports City and plays for the club he loves. He just ain't been shown love from his club. What do we need Cahill for anyhow. We have Kolo coming back and Boeteng, Lescot, Richards and Zabaleta are all capable of covering the centre half spot alongside Kompany. We should be pressing to get Leighton Baines from Everton as we need two left backs and although everyone seems to want to criticise Kolorov he is better than Bridge so with him and Baines battling for a first team spot then we got a great defense
I'll add my voice to the numbers questioning the rumoured pursuit of Cahill - he certainly doesn't interest me despite his name continually cropping up.
I've never felt that he's a particularly good player - he wasn't deemed good enough by Villa, so I don't see how he can make an impact in our squad. Perhaps he's just looking alright in an average team, with Tal Ben-Haim another example of this...
Even if Mancini does want him, then I hope that a) the reported £20m price tag is severely exaggerated and b) he would only be a squad player.
Kompany's proved his consistency and Lescott's shown that he just needed faith and a run of games to prove his worth. They both acknowledge each other as excellent defenders in a solid partnership and for me, this should only be broken if an exceptional player became available and not someone like Cahill.
The fact that he's English is probably a factor in any possible transfer but NOT at £20m.
Players I have read about recently being associated with coming to Manchester City with estimated transfer fees in £Millions and their position include:
Defenders :
Coeritrao - 26M,Cahill-20M,Van de Wiel-15M
Midfield :
Sanchez-35M,Bale-40M,Rodwell-15M,Kaka-50M,Sneijder-30M,Pastore-44M.Mata-25M,Nasri-28M,Modric -40M
Strikers :
Cavani-40M,Ibrahimovic-20M,Gervinho-10M,Sow-20M,Lukaku-20M,Aguero-35M
I'd be quite happy to get Cavani,Aguero,Sanchez and Coeritrao out of that list but who knows who we will end up with.
If Carlos Tevez does go it will be a sad loss but he more than repayed his transfer fee and will go down as a City legend even if he never plays another match. If he does stay I'm sure he will continue to give his all for the club and help win further trophy's.

Once again we have this Carlos Tevez to Real Madrid story by a Manchester Evening News journalist. This is unacceptable unless you can say his Agent has confirmed it, or Carlos himself, or the City management. As I pointed out on another post: Tevez was on the transfer list, then asked to be taken off. Wayne Rooney did exactly the same at Man.United, but I have not seen any articles by Evening News journalists hinting that Rooney is waiting for Real or Inter or A.C.Milan to come in for him. This is taking advantage of the fact that Man.City very rarely comment on such rumour and media speculation. Perhaps they should. As this is becoming ridiculous.
I think Cahill is a bit of a ruse. I am sure that the main defensive target is the Belgian lad at Ajax. I don't think Cahill will bring much to the party to be fair. Vertonghen will.
It seems to have escaped everyones notice, but as far as I am aware, we have signed a young central midfielder from Celta Vigo called Denis Suarez who is supposedly of great promise at 18 and I am surprised that this has hardly been mentioned and that MUEN are not up to speed. Maybe he hasn't actually signed at all, but the Celta Vigo website has his club wishing him well with us.
As to who we sign. Well it's all speculation really and a lot will depend on who leaves, how much we get, how many £M's of wages we can get off the books and what we are prepared to pay other teams when we go after their players and the price suddenly doubles! Sanchez suddenly becomes a player who is more suited to the Italian league, having chased him for months. More like, we value him at about £20M (which is what he will move for in Italy) but they think he's worth nearer £40M. As good as he is, he is not worth his club's valuation. If any one else like United want to pay silly money, it's up to them. But there is value out there.
Might sound totally off the wall but someone who has had an outstanding season in the Premier League and would cost a fraction of the cost of Sanchez but would be a great addition to the squad at about £10M would be Charles N'Zogbia. Great technique, superb dribbling skills, plays for the team, supplies goals and scores them. We don't need world class super stars. We need reasonably priced players who can step up a level (I believe N'Zogbia could do that) and who are willing to die for the shirt!
Would rather have Onuoha than Cahill
Aguero not a patch on Tevez.
Cahill did well for a season but was very average last season he wouldnt displace kompany or lescott or toure buy another centre back plenty of class young players in europe would like to see subotic from dortmund CLASS and would suit premiership
Cahill had one good season but has become very average for the money quoted there are many better centre backs available i have been very impressed with subotic of borrusia dortmund class and would suit the premiership and used to playing in a winning team
Cahill as had one good season lets see him play 3 or4 good seasons first, but we have not had a word from City on who we are after, or who we want so it just seems all paper talk.
no to cahill try bringing back ned and im sure its a better move with toure lescott and boyata and boetang all going for 1 spot , would like to see boetang at centre back !
If Tevez goes then go for Drogba and Lukaku. Those two with Dzeko and Balotelli would be good enough to give City a pool of four top quality strikers next season. If we need a centre back then Vertonghan has to be a better buy than Cahill, although I think Jones would also be a good option, and he's also young and English. We could do with signing van der Wiel to give Richards some competition, and also because Richards always picks up injuries due to his muscle bulk.
As for midfield, the likes of Muller, Goetze, Fabregas, Pastore and Hamsik have all been mentioned, and it looks as though Sanchez or Snjeider won't be coming anymore.
If Mancini cannot atttract players to Manchester then maybe we should go all out to sign up Gaurdiola when he leaves Barca after next season. It may be controversial but if he could get City playing like Barca in 3 years then it would be a great move for the long term success of City.
For some reason, Gareth Bale doesn't look a good buy, very overrated player whose only attribute is speed !
Word is that Real and Bayern might talk a big one when it comes to trying to sign City player but dont appear to have the money to support their ambitions.
buy the belgian defender vergho something
buy sanches from udinese
sign up bale from spurs
and get rid off ade santa cruz bellers bridge caciedo
and some other fringe players ,
keep tevez , but if he goes get aguero kun
do not ever sell micah , BOATENG, company yaya de jong barry
silva ballotelli dzeko milner and given
sell kolorov only if we can get lahm (not baines )
AND GIVE MORE GAMES TO BOYATA IBRAHIM
CUNNINGHAM BUNN GUIDETTI ( IF STILL THERE)
AND PROMOTE TO THE SENIOR SIDE THAT SPANISH BOY , AND THE ISRAELI
Ade,Jo and Santa Crock, put 'em on ebay as a job lot with no reserve (no pun intended).
The rules that state you must have at least 8 home grown players will virtually mean that if we don't sell Richards or Boyata but sell the the likes of Onuoha and SWB then the Squad will have vacancy's for 19 none home grown players.
Of those remaining in this category, I would definitely keep the following as a starting point. Hart, Given, Richards,Kompany,Lescott,Zableta,Johnson,Silva,De Jong,Ya Ya Toure, and Tevez..
I would not lose any sleep if any of the others were replaced by better players.
The stand out position that we are weak in in my opinion is left back.
To bring in the amount of players that some are suggesting is just not possible without a mass clear out of the squad. The huge salary's the majority are currently paid make them virtually unsellable without players accepting huge wage cuts or the club drastically lowering their transfer value.
I'd love to know why the newspapers have this obsession about Cahill interesting City? My last memory of him was when he missed the chance to clear a ball that Dzeko stuck in for our 2nd goal on the final day of the season. If he was auditioning for a move he made a right pigs ear of it. Boyata is a better player in my view and counts as home grown because he's come up through the ranks.
I'm not sure why Boateng gets so much stick because he's hardly played this season. When he played in his favourite position (CB) against Aris I thought did very well.
For some reason Mancini doesn't rate nervy Ned so it's probably better if he moves on.
