Blues Beat: Carlos Tevez latest from MEN sports writer James Robson

Manchester City fans have been given fresh hope that star striker Carlos Tevez will stay at the club next season.

After the 3-0 win over Stoke which saw the FA Cup winners go third in the league, Manager Roberto Mancini revealed that Tevez had told him he wants to stay with the club.

The MEN's football writer James Robson tells Richard Partington about the latest news from Eastlands.

Tevez is without doubt a world class striker & more importantly is proven in the premiership. If we do want to have a better chance of being champions next season we need to keep him. Like alot of blues our adoration for him has been tarnished by the rumours in December but there is no doubt he is the best striker in the premiership for me.
Tevez is replacable as there are many worldclass strikers in the world; a perfect repacement would be Aguero or Higuain but as with any foreign player regardless of talent it is a gamble.
We have the money & appeal to buy anyone now so his leaving would not be the end of us- Afterall how many times have Utd got rid of top players yet still been sucessful?
(Ronaldo,Tevez, Beckham, Cantona & Nistelrooy etc).
My major concern is that all these great players are unproven in England & as we know from Dzeko it also takes time to settle.
Tevez is the finished article & could win us the league if he stays. Any team in world football would miss such a special player- not just because of his talent but also committment & work ethic.
We shall see............

If he goes, very sad but he owes us nothing.
Regardless of form, he gives 100% in every single match whether it be against Torquay United or Manchester United.
But he is also a top, top class player, a real game changer.
Joe, Vinny, Nige and him are the heartbeat of the team.
But we'll move on.

If he stays....
All our rivals will be peeping up from behind the settee.
Welcome to Manchester?
Welcome to Manchester City's new era.

In that interview he said if inter or chelsea come in for him you think he will go how nearer dose Chelsea get him to his kids not much

According to United fans he will not score you 10 goals a season, well they did not play him properly did they poor sods.

Tevez scored two crackers last night. Long may it continue!

However, I for one am getting totally p*ssed off with this stay/go story.

A player signs a contract because one hopes he's OK with the deal and wants to give 100% for his club. Added to that a club captain should want to bleed for the club.

Simple as that.

Carlos, if you want to stay great but we the fans want to hear no more of this nonsense.

If he goes to a club Abroad i will wish him all the luck in the world he helped us get where we are now he owes us nothing. But if he went to Chelsea then it cant be about his kids because that's no nearer to his kids than playing for city . However i think he will stay and i think he will say soon because if he goes we need to replace him so i don't think it will drag on all summer hope not anyway

Hope he stays he's as important to us as Messi is to Barca...

We need to keep him. Besides the fact he is class, gives his all and is a good example to our team in terms of endeavour on the pitch, it also sends out a message that all is well within the club. The future is bright, the future is blue.
Clear out the old (Bellamy, Jo, Given (if wants to go), SWP (sadly, I think he will go), Bridge, Logan (good, but not good enough) etc.
Where's Michael Johnson?

Those mock up 'Welcome To The End Of Your Career' banners are looking a little sorry for themselves now.

Carlos has got probably the most ruthless adviser of them all in Kia Joorabchian, he will be the one pulling the strings. He will have told CT that he is unlikely to get a better deal elsewhere, nor a better chance of winning trophies anywhere other than at City.

A shade more professionalism when defending one goal leads next term and there will be nobody to touch us.

There's no way on Earth we'd sell him to Chelsea. If the stories are true, then other City players, whether those out on loan or warming the City bench, have allegedly been blocked from joining one of our Top 4 rivals, so why the HELL would we sell our best striker - the best striker in England - to a fellow title-challenging rival?? It won't happen. There are only three clubs Carlos Tevez could be at next season and they are Inter Milan, Real Madrid or Manchester City.

Strange to see so many blues lauding him up......... I thought we were told that he was, amongst other things "a perennial benchwarmer who might get you four goals a season"....... what a joke!!!

Come on Carlos you know you want to stay and Forza Mancini!!

cannot see city who lets remember still have him contracted till 2014 selling him to are rivals for the title next season at any price chelsea also have forked out for torres and need major surgery in other departments indeed inter milan are not the team they once were so it could be a problem if he wants away

Please tell me this isn't gonna be a story everyday till its sorted, wait till the season is over and the dust settles. Then i'm sure we will find out. The fact Carlos isn't rubbishing these stories, to me means one of two things : - 1 Carlos is leaving (Real or Milan can't see us letting him go to Chelski) 2 He's holding out for some mega deal even better than what he's already got.
I've no doubt that his family is the most important thing in his life, but how much closer to South America is Italy or Spain or Chelski for that matter, anyway whatever happens thanks for the effort Carlos good luck if you leave but fingers crossed you stay.

I hope the stories of Carlos staying are true as he is an exceptional talent and I hope he is now fully committed to the club and what we want to achieve. His display last night told me that he is, a wonderful free kick for the third goal. Another point is that it could sent out the wong signals if he did leave.......'City in crisis' and other such headlines would be the order of the day. .

Message to King Carlos, stay with us and you'll get to sup some proper Guinness in Dublin at the end of July.

Well it's incentive enough for me.

As far as i am concerned tevez is the best player in the premier league and if he demands a move city should slap a 100 million price tag on him and that would be a bargain...........

City without doubt have had a very successful last few weeks but we are still a million years away from United.Who can argue this fact?

There are only 2 clubs in the world that could buy him. Inter they have the money and Real Madrid and they are already highly leveraged. Barcelona cannot afford him and actually don't need him. That leaves 2 English clubs, one he has already been with and the other simply cannot afford his wages and anyway City would never sell him to an English club. RM can offer di Mario and Kaka and we will think about it but the players are not coming to the EPL. The only serious buyer is Inter and they have a different policy when it comes to buying players They will not pay 50M for anyone. Carlos is staying. Simple as that.

Enough, enough. Tell us the truth. Let's hear it from Carlos himself, even if it's in Spanish. We deserve that after the love and support we have given him. if he stays we'll love him. If he goes we'll thank him for all he's done. But let's get it sorted NOW.

Has anyone else noted "that" cloud in the middle of the picture. Could it possibly be a sign from up above to the rags who love making snide comments about our beloved City?

No way he is staying. I would love it but body language at FA Cup Final and on Tuesday suggest he is going, albeit with a tinge of sadness. I just hope he doesn't leave it until the last minute.
