Mancini backs Hart, but warns Blues

Joe Hart at the Walkers Stadium
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini backed Joe Hart after a rare mistake from the goalkeeper handed Leicester a 2-2 draw in the FA Cup third round clash at the Walkers Stadium.

The Foxes had gone ahead through Sol Bamba after just 45 seconds before goals from James Milner and Carlos Tevez put City in front.

However, Hart failed to grasp Paul Gallagher's cross and then allowed Andy King to reach the rebound for Leicester's equaliser.

Mancini told ESPN:  "We had a lot of chances in the second half but this is the cup, it's important we understand the competition, and to win it we must be better than tonight.

"Bamba is very tall and physical and next time we must pay more attention to him.

Mancini added: "He (Hart) has saved us a lot of times, but it's important that we have another chance."

If City beat Leicester in the replay they will face a trip to Notts County in the fourth round.

What do you think? Have your say.

Mancini is tactically naive, so we were up against it before the kick-off whistle.

Joe is much like Shay in as much he is a fine shot stopper however he too does tend to flap at crosses and does not command his area as he should do.
In this respect its hard to drop Joe for Shay because we might not get a better keeper for it but I suppose it would give Joe a kick up the butt to remind him his place is not guaranteed and sometimes Joe gives me the impression he has become slightly complacent.
His error today however was unacceptable at this level and it almost cost us dearly,YES bringing Shay back would be reminder to Joe --BRING IT ON!

Hart, thats your one and only for this season please!!! Jo love you to bits but your just not up to this level sorry! Mancini get your tactics right for once please, this replay could have been avoided for sure with our number one team, Company would have dealt with the Ariel threat so we dont need to worry for the replay then do we!!!!!! lets face it at £250 grand a week you should play each week, can any body tell me an other industry that pays top dollar wages then tells it's employees to have a week off and come back fresh next week?? don't think so!!!! overall happy to still be in the cup, now sort it for the repl,ay because this is THE comp that we can break our duck!!!!
Loved the Pozna and loved the Banner!!!!!!!

Rare error? The only two Goalkeeping errors I can remember this whole season in ALL games have come from Hart (Birmingham and now Leicester). But as I backed him from one day one - even while others were screaming from the hills for Kasper to play.... he is a quality keeper and he showed that against Arsenal.

I think it is just a City thing. I remember Nicky Weaver making some gaffs that cost us games.

For get Joe's mistake, the important thing is that City must win games like this regardless of the odd mistake that every team will make - after all no one/team is perfect - it's the 90 minures that matter and we must ensure we have enough inhand to allow for howlers laike today.

He's hardly put a foot wrong in his career so of course he should be forgiven! City's and England's number one.

hart made a mistake , but made no effort to stop the attacker scoring , he should have been busting a gut to stop their player scoring , joe hart is a good goalkeeper , but far too cocky , bring shay back for the cup games.

OK, Hart made the final mistake, but a real problem lies with the defensive capabilities and commitment of the fullbacks. Boatang trundling over to half-heartedly get in the way of the cross for Leicester's second goal was maddening. We need a captain who can bollock the defense when they make just one mistake and not allow the main problem to continually occer.

Mancini's signings on the whole (Silva and Milner excluded) are not ready to do what it takes to win games like this. Micah is twice the player Boatang is and Bridge is better than Kolarov. City have improved in respect that they did not resort to lumping the ball forward today and did well considering only 8 or so players really put in a shift.

Hart wasn't to blame, blame the missed opportunities, again.

Looking on the bright side:
(1) Milner had an excellent game. Not only did he score, provide the key pass for the second goal and head off our line; in addition, there are very promising signs of a proper understanding developing between him and Tevez. Milner also seems to thrive on greater responsibility.
(2) Whilst in normal circumstances an extra game would not be welcome, the replay will provide an important additional opportunity for Dzeko to settle in. The more he can play with Tevez, Balotelli, Silva, etc. in real competitive games before 12th February, the better.

I can forgive Joe but not Jo.

TRUEBLUE TORONTO.

Mancini tacticaly naive!!
Where have you been, obviously not to see the Blues. He is superb at tactics, and when to use subs. Not his fault that Hart made an error. This has been coming for some time, he has been over confident, but has also saved some defeats.

Hart made a mistake...happens to the best.

Dont't know why Mancini persists with Jo. Would much rather have Caiceido as a squad player than this pathetic exccuse for a footballer.

Sorry SWP, you should have been a great but I'm afraid you're all done now. Thanks for the memories and good luck at Villa or Liverpool.

Part of the story of the cup.

No need to despair, fellow blues.
I keep rooting for Vieira but I worked out that that's because he is clever and articulate, not because he's still good at football.
I also root a little for Jo but there's probably not a team in the Premiership would want him so I give up. He's not good enough.
Overall, Sven had his day - well done. We'll win the replay.

Oh! Crikey. you just know we've had a blip. Mad Ted from Droylsden re surfaces. All we need now is for Ducky Blue to crawl from under his stone!

please Roberto. Stop the zone marking before it costs us dearly!

Joe might have his faults but today, I think he learned from one. YOUNG And soon to be a winner with City.

i thought the pitch today was a great leveller - it made it difficult to play possession football and ping quick one touch passes. on the whole it was a good battling performance and i firmly believe a lot of premiership teams would have been beaten by a really good leicester side today. onwards and upwards.

In the replay both Kompany and Yaya must play. From the commentary I heard we seemed to have no answer to their corners - how many chances did that guy Bamba have? He couldn't make it in Scotland so he can't be that good. Surely the players on the pitch could have seen this and arranged some marking - Kolo Toure was the senior defender present - he should have taken control - plus we had Lescottand Boateng in the team. Need to do our homework although it also sounded like we had some pretty good chances ot have won the game.

Joe is still learning his trade and we've all seen at times he can be a bit over confident but our coaches see it aswell and they will sort it, Joe will be our keeper and Englands number one for a long time and will get better as he plays more games.
Still in the cup and an okay looking draw if we progress.
Having praised our coaches and i do support Bobby Manc i am starting to wonder what they all see in Jo anyone care to shed some light?

Yes, a rare mistake. How many mistakes did the other players make? I have no ongoing issue with it. He saves our bacon on many occasions so lets not give him a hard time, he understands and will learn from it.

What concerned me was not that Joe dropped the ball, that can happen, but the fact he totally bottled it in going for the rebound

The chairman should be warning the whole lot of them .Mancini for playing a sub standard team and hes coaching staff not doing their home work and having no answer after the first goal what kind of marking allows free headers at every cross. We are well short of a strong central defender along with Kompany. The mid field needs a further creative player. As for Hart and Jonhson they need bringing down a peg or two that england mentality shows through "we are city" no need to battle for ninety + minutes .
