Nicolas Anelka has been linked with a move back to Liverpool but for me the idea seems a no-goer.
Apparently he wants to play Champions League football but by January, Liverpool might not be the place to look for that and could well be out of Europe's top competition by then.
The questions City fans are asking are:
Does he want to carry on playing in this country ?
Does he want to return to France?
Does he want to leave at all ?
I certainly don't know, but I am sure that if Monaco could have found the money in August he would have gone there.
They didn't have the '10m City wanted for him which poses another question. Do Liverpool?
Before the January window opens City have a run of four games which could make or break their season with only one at home against Tottenham, mixed with trips to Middlesbrough, Bolton and Everton.
I feel if City can win them all if they play to their full potential, but the trouble is they haven't done that too many times this season.
First up come Middlesbrough next weekend.
They have been the surprise package this season and are a tough nut to crack at the Riverside but City are probably better away from home than at Eastlands.
The Blues have become home draw specialists while wins seem easier to come by in away games. This is possibly because they find it difficult to break down teams when they put men behind the ball, the usual tendency when they come to Manchester. I suppose that is a compliment to City, but it is also a problem which must be solved .
Away from home the onus is on the opposition to come out and get at City which happened at Portsmouth.
Teams become vulnerable to the breakaway and with Shaun Wright-Phillips and Anelka around that is always on the cards.
To prove my point, just look at how many points Everton have picked up away from Goodison Park and you can see why they are having such a good season.
They come up on Boxing Day as the last of the four and while it looks like a hard way to spend Christmas, believe me, it could be a lot harder. Tweet

With Anelka in the team City could not beat Norwich or Blackburn, but without him have beaten Portsmouth and Villa.
The team work and passion played without Anelka also having Joey Barton with his drive has also helped.
If the right offer comes in for Anelka I think that City should take it.
Anelka is a class act, he is one of our best players for sure and with him upfront we have got extra threat. Whether we can wion games without him is beside the point, we need quality upfront like Anelka as we know that though the likes of Macken and Fowler are capable of delivering, most times they dont. Where would we be without Nico? We need Anelka to stay.
If we are to sell Anelka we need to make some money on the deal. If we still owe 7 or 8 million to PSG then we need to sell him for twice this. As he is being targeted by some of the top teams in europe ie Barca, Monaco and Liverpool then the club should realise that he is one of the top strikers in europe and we need to replace him with another striker of the same quality. If we are to compete for a european place then we need another striker and a decent left sided midfielder. We should stick large price tags on SWP and Anelka to deter Newcastle and the other teams from trying to poach our players for knockdown fees. What would also help would be if Macca did the same as David Seaman and tore his contract up, after all he is only fit for a handful of games a season and even then he is still carrying an ankle injury. If KK had carried on at a steady pace with the squad and only introduced a couple of quality players last season then we should be competing with Boro, Newcastle and Villa now and be a steady top half team.
dont we also play at home against west brom on the 28th december? i make this 5 games till january! come on city!
Anelka is class our recent revival is due to Joey Barton being back in the team and injecting bite into the midfield.
