Manchester City

Tevez derby booster for City

Carlos Tevez has given City a major boost by declaring he will be fit for next week’s Manchester derby.

And manager Roberto Mancini is hoping that the Blues’ top scorer – who is due back in Manchester tomorrow – may even be available for Sunday’s trip to West Brom.

Mancini spoke with Tevez before boarding the plane to Poland for tomorrow’s Europa League clash with Lech Poznan.

And, after City’s medical staff liaised with counterparts at the Argentine FA who have been treating the City skipper in Buenos Aires, it was agreed he should fly home and begin preparations for the crunch clash with the Baggies.

“He will be in Manchester today, and I think he will be ready for West Brom,” said Mancini.

The Blues can qualify for the round of 32 in the Europa League with a win in Poznan tonight, but have left the Toure brothers at home.

Kolo was still feeling the effects of a hamstring problem which meant he was less than 100 per cent during the Wolves game, and Mancini wanted Yaya to work at Carrington and take a break from playing before two crucial Premier League games.

Mario Balotelli has also been given the all-clear to play after pulling up with a thigh problem in training on Tuesday.

Mancini also rounded on the critics who have said he is being undermined by a players’ revolt, condemning the reports as “lies”.

“I’m not surprised at these reports,” he said. “If there is someone that wants to write these lies, they can do, I’m happy for them. But it’s really false, it’s not true.

“We are in fourth position at the moment, and we started the season very well. OK, we lost against Wolverhampton, but that can happen sometimes, and it is important for us if we want to get to our targets in the end we must continue to work without what some journalists write.”

Mancini even had time to laugh off the latest suggestion, that he had been rowing with Yaya and Kolo Toure before leaving them behind in Manchester.

“After this, after Yaya and Kolo, I’m finished!” he said, and added, tongue firmly in cheek: “I have a problem with Carlos, with Yaya, with Kolo – I don’t know, with all the players!”

AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME. Go Bobby, Go Bobby.

I know that's not very mancunian but I thought I'd give it a shot. And red doris DO NOT stalk me, I like men and they have to be blue.

Mancini is the man, come on city!!

Doesn't matter one bit. City will sit back and try and do the reds on the break. United will prevail with a comfortable two nil victory.

Just the boost we need in the run up to the Derby. Carlitos leading the line, Balotelli given licence to run amok. No one's fooled with all the injuries being claimed at the Swamp. Fletcher and Nani will play as, I dare say, will Shrek.

Dukinfield Blue, quote:

Rita Fitton - Havent you got something more important to do like some washing, ironing, cleaning or something?. It always amazes me when silly cows like you want to comment on football, especially silly cows who live in the US of A. pray, I bet you even live on one of Uncle Malcoms trailer parks dont you?.
Look Love, leave football matters to Manchester fans on a Manchester forum, you see in our football world, we try to play football with Feet not hands unlike yourselves in good old Uncle Malcs world, furthermore we celebrate a goal rather than shout TOUCHDOWN!!!, do you get it yet Love?, get on with the ironing as god intended downbeats like you to do.

*Dukinfield blue sent me this love note yesterday, just like the one he sent to City lady a few weeks ago. This was because I made a reply to a comment left by an obsessed red. How strange is this man or women or half and half? Now such a coward would never disclose who he really is so I could send my brothers round to have a cup of tea with him? I'll be at my Manchester house in December Dukinfield blue, would you care to join me for dinner so I can serve your testicles to you on a platter? I dont cook so they will be raw and you'll have to clean up after youself too, it's not my thing, I'd rather be watching football.

I am convinced now that you are not a City fan and I dont think even United fans would own up to you. You've been conspicuous by your absence after City won 3 games and were in 2nd place and only started showing up again last week after the Arsenal match. No going back in the closet now matey, you're out for good. God it must be small and shrivelled is all I can say.

It must feel ridiculous and confusing to sit at a press conference and get asked a series of non-questions relating to things that have been completly fabricated. I imagine it feels more like a script reading for a BBC costume drama than a press conference..........

"so roberto how will you deal with the lost dressing room"

"the dressing room is fine - what are you talking about"

"ok then, how will you re-build bridges with players, be specific if possible"

"what??? are you asking if waybe bridge is injured???"

"ah, so youve had a bust up with bridge - is it because you've slept with his ex girlfriend a'la John Terry"

"sorry, can you repeat that"

"oh i see - you've slept with her repeatidly - was it any good"?

"capiche? well, yes wayne bridge and john terry are both good players"

"as good as you were roberto"

"maybe, maybe not - we are different players"

"thanks roberto - thats all we needed"

"errrrrr - ok - does anyone have any questions about the game"

"no - cheers anyway (cue snide snickering)

Headline in tomorrows scum press.........

"CITY IN SLEAZE CRISIS AS MANCINI ADMITS - 'YES BRIDGE AND JT ARE GOOD IN BED - BUT WAYNES EX SAID I WAS EVEN BETTER'........."

She liked something a little 'different' - claims lover boy Roberto...........

Fair play Mancini always laughs it off but i'd walk out. The so called journalists dont even ask questions, they are more like accusation and rumour repetition (mostly fabricated by their own papers) under the guise of a question. Its truly pathetic............

Possibly the most important derby in the history of the club - we win the media will struggle to continue with the recent criticism and we will all be overjoyed and the future will look bright again - we lose and the media will slaughter us so much that everyone at the club the owner, directors, manager, fans and players will start to wobble and we may see some unnecessary knee jerk reactions.A draw will likely see the media knock us but maybe not to the same degree as if we lost and may steady things a little at the club.Having stated all of this for me nothing less than a full blooded performance by all our players and a win will do ... another 5-1 please lads !!!

Good to know Carlito might be back for both fixtures, especially the derby next week. Still think we've got a squad good enough to smash West Brom and Utd with or without Tevez though so if he doesn't make it for one or both of the fixtures it will be interesting to see how we will play after the shocking performance on saturday. West Brom will have two of their regular defenders suspended on sunday and utd are well overrated and have are a very mediocre side who only really win games because too many other teams can't see them for what they are instead of some kind of superpower. Think we should be looking for nothing less than 6 points from the next two games.

Any chance Carlos has a football-playing brother? We need the attitude Tevez brings throughout the whole team: a winning mentality. You don't have to be the best player in the world, so long as your head is right - just look at the effort given by some "unfashionable" teams.

If we get the right attitude in our squad, the "never-say-die" spirit, we can move on up. We already have the ability, we simply need heart, dedication and consistency. That's the hardest thing to engender, but all the best teams have it.

Starting with a positive attitude and a good victory tonight will certainly help. Come on!
