CITY'S outstanding crop of youngsters turned on the style at Gigg Lane last night to record a comfortable Manchester Senior Cup win over Bury. After a dour start Lee Croft set up midfielder Stephen Ireland for a 40th minute opener.
And while Colin Kazim-Richards hit the crossbar for the Shakers it was a rare attack for the home side who conceded further goals through teenagers Karl Bermingham and 16-year-old Micah Richards.
The City side was Ellegaard, Matthews, Williamson, J D'Laryea, N D'Laryea, Collins, Croft (Laird 74), Ireland (Richards 74), Bermingham, Bennett, Tandy (Grimes 76).

Ed - please learn to spell it's dour not dower! (Cheers Nick. Youi're absolutely right and it has been changed. Although, in my own defence, it wasn't me! rgds, ED)
How about this statement for others to comment:
Keegan needed 5 years to rebuild the team. Therefore he brought in experienced players to keep City in the topflight, and give youngsters the chance to grow. Some youngsters were ready sooner than others. And within 5 years there will be a team with (mostly) young and promosing players, ready to challange the big guns.
Together with the new stadium and the fanbase, it will be a very good investment and the financial situation looks bright.
That's the moment when Keegan will go, leaving behind a healthy club and a team that can win honours for years to come. If so, he fullfills his promise when he was appointed manager of Man.City.
Come on you moaners, I'm sure you can't resist this one. But then again, look at our neighbours at the swamp 10 years ago ...
Good stuff city ur grooming alot of super youngsters through at d mo. Glad to see a fair percentage are Irish. Stephen Ireland looks like a gifted midfielder. Flood is making a big impression at senior level. If u didnt sell Elliot I reckon he'd be in ur 1st team aswell.
Well obviously KK needed to spend 3.5 mil on Vuoso, 6 mil on Folwer, 1.5 mil on Negouai, 3.5 mil on Sommeil, 5 on Macken, 2.5 on Sinclair, 3 on Reyna 750K on Bischoff ... I can't even remember all the players he signed to keep us in the top flight - we obviously couldn't have done it without them - LOL. At least we've had some, if at times questionable, returns from Distin & Jensen. Anelka and James seem fine - does anyone know how much we paid for James ? One of those undisclosed transfers which means at face value we probably overpaid - though he and Wanchope were all that kept us in the Premiership - so it was a good use of funds as it turned out - if a little late in the season.
When is Crofty getting a chance in the 1st team.
