The left-back damaged ankle ligaments against Tottenham and may now be looking at an Octover return.
With Wayne Bridge out with a toe injury, Pablo Zabaleta is likely to stand in for the Serbian, although Joleon Lescott is another option.

Cursed, not other word for it
Nightmare. Personally, I'd rather see Lescott or Cunningham at left back than Bridge even if Bridge was fit.
Good to now have options to cover for injuries.
Drop Kolo, put Lescott at centre half and give Cunningham a go at left back!
Unfortunate start for the big fellow but this demonstrates why we need depth in our squad.
Would prefer Shay to stay with us but very impresses with the way Bobby is handeling the whole situation.
Tough luck, Aleks. Lescott for left back - shows wisdom of Robero's emphasis on versatile players, in contrast to the media which thinks two players for each position is ridiculous overkill.
The left back problem that has plagued us for decades continues when we thought it had been solved.
I cannot see Zabaleta or Lescott as the solution, the former is just too slow playing on his wrong foot against tricky wingers (and has been found wanting on several occasions not just vs Spurs but last season also) and the latter is not technically gifted enough to play the marauding ball playing fullback that gets up and down the pitch.
Boateng played left back admirably (his 3rd preferred position behind CB and RB) for Germany at the WC and has the pace and delivery to play there as a makeshift. Don't know if he will even be fit for the Europa game and if he isn't we should be putting Cunningham in there, fresh off his 2nd cap vs the Argies and penning a new 4yr deal.
I wouldnt be surprised to see Cunningham get the nod on Thursday night with Boateng (if fit) playing at RB. His chance to stake his claim may have come earlier than expected
let him leave we don't want sulky players at the club
NOW THAT IS A BLOW,KOLAROV WAS REALLY FITTING IN WELL ,BUT NEVER MIND THATS WHY WE,VE GOT THE BEST SQUAD IN THE LEAGUE.
THE REAL MARK JONES.
We have the cover...we have Jolo,Zab and Cunningham,in fact I still think we should be selling Bridge....Jolo and Zab are better and Cunningham will be....as for Shay,if he wants to leave we must sell him for a PROFIT-he must be mad, even his International boss has told him to stay-here he would be guaranteed a deal to take him through to 40 years of age.....no brains.
Barry to left back, add another striker to our attack!
Which is why we need a big squad.
lescott for me could make a top class left back!!
Hope it's not another Bojinov...
A good game to give Cunningham some matchtime!
I think after Richards' performance on Saturday that Zaba will be right-back and Jolo on the left.
Given's the No2 keeper,so he's on the bench. Just because RM has said he can leave if he wants to it doesn't mean he doesn't rate him, it just means that RM can appreciate that a keeper of Given's age and standing wouldn't be happy being No2 to a much younger man. But until he finds a new club, he's got a job to do for City.
Lescott, obviously.......
All the money spent, and it comes down to Zabaleta or Lescott at left back.
One is right footed, the other is crap.
I feel it depends on the opposition and if they have a left winger / back as to who plays at left back for City, I for one know nothing about the the opposition, are they any good ???
Barry,Lescott or Cunningham all ahead of Bridge.
CTID
Zab at right back and Lescott at left back. Simple as.
Gobsmacked about Given going to Romania! Obviously, any loan move is still way off.
Shay Given should stay with city,he will get at least 30-40 games a season, due to the number of games City will be involed with this season.
kevin cairns, you must reckon we will be playing 80 games this season or Joe will be out of the team for a long stretch. Don't expect us to allow Given to go out on loan. Given is a good keeper but very over hyped. Other then Fulham/Hughes don't see many takers, certainly not on
wacky wages.
it's a physical game, even hard men get hurt. even the most versatile 25 man squad is going to be stretched at times, during the season, and we're bound to depend upon the younger players from time to time. so i'd start cunningham, why not? if he's good enough for ireland, and a four-year deal...
