The 23-year-old has returned from an impressive season’s loan at Birmingham to scrap it out with Shay Given for the keeper’s jersey.
Hart said that he would consider another temporary move if he ended up kicking his heels on the Blues bench this season.
And Sunderland boss Steve Bruce confirmed on Wednesday that he had approached City with a view to taking him on loan.
Bruce is on the lookout for a keeper, having lost Scotland international Craig Gordon for the start of the season after he broke his wrist in training.
“We’ve asked the question and we now just have to wait and see what City say,” Bruce said.
M.E.N. Sport understands that the answer will be no, as boss Roberto Mancini sees Hart as having a key role to play.
What do you think? Have your say.

That was a long journey back to Stockport for me and the rest of the crew from the Feathers after Scholes had an unchallenged header

Given is a great keeper, no doubt about it, but we really don't wanna give Joe the hump by sticking him on the bench.
Given's not got much playing time left and is experienced enough to handle sitting on the bench.

No they have'nt, Manchester City Football Club have not responded to the bid and that's my understanding just as MEN understands the answer will be no?
This really is poor reporting, other media and the MCFC report facts not speculation!
Finally, it is my understanding that Arsenal Football Club will make a combined £18m bid for Joe Hart and Vincent Kompany, thats my ubderstanding!

Joe needs to get his head around the fact that EVERYBODY has to fight for their place, once there you have to make sure you stay there.

Yeah, that's it. You send us your #3 keeper for three games and you want our #1 and soon to be England #1 for a full season in return. I agree, that is quite arrogant on Sunderland's part...
blues 2 win (05/08/2010 at 10:48)
However my main concern is centre back; we have no really dominant player in that position. Lescott is a bitter disappointment ( after RSC, Bridge and Lescott Hughes has an incredible nerve complaining about getting the tin tack) so we're probably looking at Kompany who's our best bet and Kolo. Not a convincing pair. Please get back in for Luiz. If we have to pay his stratospheric reserve price he's worth it. Otherwise I'd go for Subotic who could play with his Serbian team mate Kolarov.
The other concern is the lack of creative players. Silva is unproven although we all hope for great things from him. Assulin looks like a decent punt ( why no mention of him MEN?) but Ireland seems to have lost the plot. I can't understand why we aren't piling in for Ozil. I'd be furious if United got him. If we can't persuade him I'd resurrect our interest in Gourcuff.
We shouldn't be too pessimistic; we still have Boateng, de Jong, Silva and Carlos to come back and Kolarov and Yaya look really good buys. But the squad Mancini inherited from Hughes represented a scandalous misuse of £200 million.

Must say Lewis that I'm surprised at the reqeust from Bruce, 'cos for me Hart will start City's season as No.1, and if not I'll be very dissapointed as Hart has been better in pre-season than Given IMO.
Having said that, I can understand your feelings mate - we've (City) been there ourselves for donkeys years remember, ie: huge club (fanbase wise) just like yourselves, except without the £clout to challenge at the very top (yet).
Thing is, what we didn't like &/or comprehend fully before our takeover by Shake Rattle & Roll, was exactly what you're talking about - our gripe being against the so-called BIG4 of the time.
Unfortunately, must say, now that we're in the mix at the top and we're in the big house, we can only think of our own agenda if we wanna win the BIG ONES.
Good luck for the season Lewis (except when you're playing us ha ha) - Sunderland are a great club with even Greater Fans.

So - make him No 1 and start him above Given - that way should Given get itchy feet there is a number of clubs he could go to and we keep the better of the two keepers and someone who is going to be with us for a very long time, and can only getter better and better with experience and maturity. We have two excellent keepers as back up anyway!
I cant see the problem here at all.
