Manchester City's Bulgarian midfielder Martin Petrov has emerged as a surprise target for Bolton.
The 31-year-old's contract expires at Eastlands on July 1 and he wants longer than the 12-month extension offered by Roberto Mancini.
Petrov is believed to be on £45,000 a week but Wanderers wouldn't be scared off by the wage demands.
Petrov didn't play for the Blues after injuring his knee against Stoke last February.
Celtic, Everton and Blackburn Rovers are also thought to be interested. Former Wolfsburg and Atletico Madrid star, Petrov, joined City in 2007.
Should City let Petrov go? Have your say.

Der.........unless we need an extra programme seller
Yes we should...his contribution to the team has been underwhelming,he is part of our past.Let him Sylvinho,Benjani and Viera go,sell Garido,Etuhu,Logan,Robi,Jo,Boj,Caiceido=11 out in one stroke....please try and keep Superman and Micah unless they are absolutely surplus...let Ned go after he opened his big mouth......
Yes, let Petrov go. He is injury prone and also approaching 32. His best years are behind him. In young Weiss, we have a player who can improve. I agree with Evan Georgiou's list, except I would keep Ned. and let Irelend go in part ex for Milner. Ireland has done nothing for ages and has stepped out of line far more times than Ned, who has overstepped the mark only once in more than ten years at the club.
On his day one of the very best players to wear the blue shirt in the last 20 years.
If I had been in charhe he would have played a lot more games.
Yep. Fine player on his day, but those days were few and far between, he's also prone to the odd sulk. Cheers Pet, all the best for the future.
i am suprised he has been offered an extension at all ? one decent game in 4 on average (and that was 3 years ago when he was younger & fitter ) is not a good return on svens investment ?
Agree and Evan is an excellent poster, but I would ask we keep Ned for the reasons you have mentioned Bobby. Lots of players let off steam and emotions now and again and in this case it is for Ned and the manager to resolve. Hopefully, Ned will stay as he is a very good player given the opportunity.
Agree wholeheartedly with your comments re-Ned. Of course he's frustrated - especially when players are selected who are not good as he is - e.g., Boyata and Richards, not to mention Toure.
The one thing that we have to do is lighten the squad of the fringe players. Even if we can't sell them, we could let then go on a free. Or we will have any number of Danny Mills' on our hands, wages going out for nowt back.
Unfortunately I think Ned may have backed himself into a corner he can't get out of - you cannot publically have a pop at the management, not just manager, and still remain. Yes it was an isolated incident, but it was a very public condemnation of the management and I dont see a way back for him.
I wish there was, as I'm a very big fan of his ability.
On an entirely different subject - do have a look at BBC's football web-site. They have just reported that the American owners of Stretford are more than 1 billion in debt - not the 700M plus that most believe. Also, a large chunk of debt will mature soon and the 'roll-over' will attract interest payments of 16.75%!!!!
Let the big tart go. If he stays in the Prem the only 2 good games he'll have all season will be against us, which just about sums up his attitude. His decent contributions in games were few an far between, plus his injuries seem to mount year on year. With SWP, Johnson and Weiss we have enough talent out wide to let him go.
After reading some of the other posters on here I would change my mind and say that Ned /Micah/Superman can all stay provided that they knuckle down and make it impossible for Roberto to leave them out.....the only criterion must be quality /performance.....last season only Shay/Zab/Vinny/Gareth/Nigel/Bellers/Tev's /Adam (8)made it impossible for Roberto to leave them out...too many like Kolo/Jolo/Superman/Micah/Ned/Ade and RSC did not perform consistently....The Full 90 minutes Please, Ramsbottom is perfectly right....
....A good servant when we were a mediocre team.But times have changed.
I'd prefer to see his talents being displayed more regularly for the new mediocrity. perhaps Liverpool will come in with an offer.
I don't believe it Bolton in the market for an attacking player instead of a clogger.
Just going of the topic but we now have 2 world class goalies and 1 is gonna sit on the bench. Now what i am suggesting is play 1 and when he doesnt keep a clean sheet in a game put the other 1 on. If they keep a clean sheet they get to play in net in the next game surely its a good incentive.
Great player to watch when hes in full flow but can be sometimes frustrating when he is defending and doesnt want to tackle. I think one of his best displays was against Blackburn at home (correct me if im wrong) but in the first half he tore the fullback apart, he was brilliant that day. I dont think he,s a Mancini type of player therefore he will get little oppertunity and added with his injury problems i think its better for both partys to go there own way.
Not many left from SGE era,Pet had his moments(Blackburn when they removed the right back) but too few and too far apart.Constant injurydidn`t help.At 32 let him go.
Bolton, says it all really..........Type your comment here...

Not quite as you say it. Their owneres are £1.1 billion in the re, though they remain £07 billion in the red on their rags investment. The rest is on what they borrowed frm the Tamapa Bay Bucs and their loss making Shopping Malls i the States.
OK, enough of that. There is another report on the beeb site today about wages in the Premiership. Chelsea's wage bill is twice that of City's. So much for the rags coming on here and whinging about City being full of wage prostitutes. Oh, and look where the rags sit on the list:
* Chelsea - £167m (£172m)
* Man Utd - £123m (£121m)
* Liverpool - £107m (£90m)
* Arsenal - £104m (£101m)
* Man City - £83m (£54m)
