Before Emmanuel Adebayor's agent reaches for the phone, it should be pointed out that the 18-year-old Liberian starlet is not about to claim a first-team place.
He is only Tevez's training partner, chosen because the two men are of similar height.
But Nimely, who made his debut splashing through a swamp at Turf Moor as the Blues romped to a 6-1 win, harbours dreams of one day partnering Tevez for real.
Nimely often trains with the first-team squad as Roberto Mancini continues his policy of integrating the club's young players with the seasoned pros.
And the teenager, who played the last seven minutes at Burnley, says he has benefited hugely from the experience.
"When we train, the manager always puts me and Carlos together, because we are the same height, like he always puts Emmanuel Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz together," said the starry-eyed youngster. "We share a joke and he always shows me some stuff. Craig Bellamy is also a great help - sometimes he takes me out again after training and teaches me things.
"The first-team players are great - they encourage you every day.
"Training with the first team is a massive thing for us, and a huge opportunity. The intensity is very high, and you don't get much time to think.
"You have to know what you are going to do before the ball reaches you. The manager always wants us to play at a high tempo, so that it won't be strange when they put you in a big game.
"We have been taught that if you are good enough you are old enough, and once you prove to him you are at that level day in, day out, in training, no matter who you are you will play, and that's a fantastic thing, the opportunity we are looking for."
Nimely is not short of experience for someone who turns 19 next month. In fact, his Premier League debut was not even in front of the biggest crowd of his career.
That came three years ago when, as a 15-year-old boy living in the Liberian capital Monrovia, he went to stay with his grandmother for an extended holiday in Cameroon.
The talented youngster was quickly signed up by top Cameroon side Cotonsport Garoua - and hurled into an African Champions League clash with Ugandan Revenue Authority, in front of a crowd estimated at 30,000.
Nimely rise
The boy was far from over-awed, scoring one of the goals as Cotonsport progressed to the next round.
"I was there for four months, and was the youngest player," said Nimely. "I played as a substitute aged 15, came on and scored, but then got injured and didn't play for them again.
"We played at home and there was a huge crowd. After the game I was nearly crying because I didn't know what to do.
"They were a massive team - the next year they got to the final of the African Champions League."
But even that amazing day paled into insignificance when the board was held high in the interminable drizzle of that grey Lancashire afternoon, to tell him he was replacing Tevez for a cameo performance and his City debut.
"It was fantastic to get on, and I give thanks to almighty God for letting me see that day, and then for making it a unique one for me," he said.
"That's a dream for every young player who comes through the Academy and is pushing up towards the first team. It's a long way, but I'm just grateful to God and the City technical staff, people like Jim Cassell, Barry Pointon and Alex Gibson.
"The pitch was awful, but I will play on that surface every time if it means playing in the Premier League."
Nimely arrived at City with the unwieldy name of Alex Nimely-Tchuimeni, but has dropped the second part of the name for convenience.
He came to England to stay with his British-born father Davy Tchuimeni, a lawyer and former Canadian college basketball player, now based in Milton Keynes.
Trials at Portsmouth and Blackburn came to nothing, but City saw something in him immediately, and last year he was a key player in the youth team which reached the FA Youth Cup semi-finals.
"Last year was a fantastic year for the youth team," he said. "I played a lot of games, but unfortunately we lost in the Youth Cup semi to Arsenal."
Nimely admits that Roberto Mancini's policy of giving Academy products their chance in the first team - he has also blooded Dedryck Boyata, Abdi Ibrahim and Greg Cunningham - has made a difference to the thrusting youngsters at Platt Lane.
"We all talk in the changing room about wanting to play in the first team, and it's important to you that you keep moving forward and focusing on your football," he said.
"It was difficult for me in the first year, but after a year or two it's all right because I have friends in the team, and the coaching staff helps to look after you.
"I live in digs, and at first I lived with a lady called Julie who was a policewoman - that was tough because I couldn't do anything!"
What are your expectations of Nimely? Have your say.

I love it when i see our youth being given there chance, and i feel the integration with the first team can only benefit them massively, so good luck Alex & the other young lads comeing through, take your chances by the scruff of the kneck lads & show us what your made of !!! CTID BELIEVE.
As an old fashioned City fan I really hope the young academy players come through, if god enough. It is obviously up to them to establish a place, but they need the chance and opportunity. Often they are given a chance but never a sustained run. Finding the balance to give them the chance to learn and grow is difficult I know. Though we now have money, I am not great fan of just buying success. The soul of a club can ripped out that way.
Have to give Mancini plenty of credit for the way he has allowed the young lads a sniff of the big time. Love this kid. On his day he`s a little genius with a football, and the thought of him around the mentality of Apache and Bellers is brilliant with his attacking talent. Have to add that I think Bellamy is fantastic to have at City. He may be volatile, but his willingness to put in extra time for kids like Alex just further proves he`s a good man, and a football man through and through.
Time to look at options other then wacky money buys,Everton have done well with lower division signings recently and have brought through some good kids, lets go for that model, had enough of the 1 good game in 10 types.
Tevez will be well gone by the time he's ready.
Off to Real Madrid to earn a few more millions for his "advisors"
Hwe looks the part strong, athletic and a brain. Can go the distance.
Is there something about me you don't like MUEN?
I posted this hours ago, seem to have been "edited out" and will have another try.
I have watched Alex Nimely since he was 1 16 year old and I think he is the genuine article, at least as good as Daniel Sturridge and probably a much more likeable person!
Perhaps that will get past your censorship
Alphie Izzet
wish him good luck as i do to all the lads
I wish the lad well and hope he makes it at City, however I just wish to point out that where I sit, some of the people around me have a blinkered view on any player that comes through the academy, some of these people would still pick Onuoha in the starting line up if he was on crutches, (as he often is) Ireland and Richards have never had a bad game, in fact if all the City team came through the accademy and got relegated, then this would be OK because they were home grown players.
Just like Vlad Weiss is finding out, making the transition from the junior ranks up to the reserves and beyond takes time. For every SWP, who got into the first team at a young age, there are 10 others that have to go out on loan or fail to live up to their early promise altogether. Hopefully Nimely will make the grade, as I wish Ibrahim, Cunningham and the others do. The one I really look at and hope he makes it is, David Ball, because he's a true local lad.
Yet another acadamy lad coming through eh. You've got to give it to City for their fantastic and prolific youth system. Even if some of the lads don't make it with us they go on to help other teams and have a football career built of a great foundation.
I'm not sure if we are the best at it in the country but we must be right up there when it comes to developing young players and bringing them through. You only have to look at the Youth cup win the other season to see the Quality as well. It's funny how most critics of City ignore all the good City do, nevertheless I like how we just keep on going about our own business slowly getting better and better and not looking for credit form anyone. Humility and dignity are just two of the clubs marvelous qualities. It's a good way to build the club too, slowly but surely as they say.
Maybe I shouldn't have said anything because the hater's out there will get their jealous heads on once again. It's a pity they can't see just how blinkered and small minded they are actually being with their very shallow opinions of someone else's club.
Well done to Alex Nimely though and all the very best for the future. Yet again one to look forward to seeing on a more regular basis.
Alphred - I think Gaz Chuckle only just shdes Dan Sturridge in teh obnoxiousness stakes so you're really damning the lad with faint praise there.
