The winger's step-father Ian stirred up a hornets' nest last week by claiming the Blues were short-changing his son over a new deal. Wright-Phillips still has just over two years to run on his £60,000-a-week contract.
But the 28-year-old wants a pay rise to bring his wages more into line with big earners such as Carlos Tevez, Emmanuel Adebayor and Joleon Lescott.
City have offered a one-year extension to his contract - and a rise to around £70,000 a week - but the Academy graduate has turned it down.
And Wright senior launched a blistering attack on City, chief executive Garry Cook and football administrator Brian Marwood, claiming the club were "mugging off" his son and treating him "like a youth-team player".
Cook and Marwood have stayed silent over those comments, but Mancini insists SWP should not be fretting over a pay rise. The manager drew comparisons between the contract wrangle and his recent training-ground dispute with Craig Bellamy as he called for any player unrest to be dealt with in-house.
He said: "If a player speaks with me, it is better for him, for me and for the club.
"I have no problem with Shaun, and I have no problem with Craig.
"But the papers write that I do. I have no problems with the players. It is important that they play at 100 per cent, because we have one important target.
"When we reach this target, we can speak about a new contract."
Wright-Phillips should certainly be full of confidence going into tomorrow's trip to Sunderland, having scored for England against Egypt in his last outing 10 days ago.
Mancini said: "Shaun is an important player for us. We have time for his contract, but it is important that Shaun plays well for the team.
"For now, it's important that we think about the next game. We have time to sort out his contract. I don't think we have a problem."
Wright also claimed that City had forced his son to play when unfit - although he didn't make clear if that had been on Mancini's watch.
The City boss added: "Shaun has never said anything to me about being made to play when unfit.
"I am happy with him, because he always gives 100 per cent."
Should City offer SWP a new deal? Have your say.

Shaun needs to get his head down, focus and play well consistently, rather than worrying how much he and the other players are on.
If the club introduced a performance related salary, then some of our underachieving lightweights would need try and start earning their money instead of just turning up and getting paid an obscene amount for not even trying!

Is the for sale sign up yet on Busby way?
ocean finance on the phone without delay
"we can help", to save eviction
from your debt, that's gonna grow
fans get fleeced there, every season
And Glazer's know, they're on skid row
[chorus]
Come a come a come a come a come come a come on Malcolm
don't sell say no, don't sell say no
Dollars won't be easy and you cannot afford your dream
Red gold and green, red gold and green...
You can see the red knights in force on their way
To buy the Glazer's out without delay
That's a fact, not science fiction
Those red knights are getting strong
Can you see, the green n' gold worn
so sing this song, Just sing along...
[chorus]
Come a come a come a come a come come a come on Malcolm
don't sell say no, don't sell say no
Dollars won't be easy so raise prices to live your dream
Red gold and green, red gold and green...
Every day is like survival
We are City, and we're your rival
Every dollar for your survival
You're Man ure, our 'heath'en rival
I'm a man with blue conviction
I'm a man who doesn't know
if you're Man ure, or if you're Norwich
what do you owe, just let me know
Come a come a come a come a come come a come on Malcolm
don't sell, say no, stuff 'em say no
Dollars won't be easy so fleece 'em to live your dream
Red gold and green, Theatre of screams...

In twelve months, we would be in a better position to review his significance to us and make the appropriate offer. Now we have a disgruntled player and the media lapping up more confirmation about City's mercenries.
Stand tall City and don't get bullied. You know that he wouldn't even get 60 grand anywhere else, let alone more.

SWP needs to get his game together and just concentrate on playing well for City, oh and tell his idiot father to keep his big mouth shut !
Mancini is 100% right to lay the law down and demand a concentration of commitment and application towards the important run-iin to the end of the season. The end of the season is then the time to consider who deserves what, based upon their efforts throughout the whole season.
SWP has definitely let himself down over this issue, and needs to put it right by his performances in the remaining games.

If it's Shaun I'd be surprised and disappointed and suggest he keep his head down and does all his talking on the pitch.......if it is his old man that's putting in the poison, then Shaun should tell him to butt out and tell him he can speak for himself by, guess what, yep...keeping his head down and doing his talking on the pitch!!

Bonuses and Performance based incentives should rather be instated, based on specific targets and outputs. This is how it is for us normal salaried plebs, work hard, meet targets get a standard bonus, exceed targets and get a nice bonus. For us it pays the bills!! For them, that new sports car.

The fact remains, however, that SWP is one of ours. All those slagging him off are forgetting the good times he gave us. For a period he was the only exciting player to watch in our team. He still has a lot to offer and is a top class winger. You don't think so? Well, wait till he goes to Aston Villa and Martin O'Neil gets the best out of him. Sound familiar? It should do, as it recently happened to another one of "ours".
I would rather see Cook leave than SWP, any day of the week.
