The Brazil striker joined City for a British record £32.5m in the summer of 2008 and made an instant impact, finishing as the club's leading scorer in his first season.
But this season has been a different story as, first under former boss Mark Hughes and then Mancini, Robinho spent most of his time on the bench.
He was loaned back to his first club, Santos of Brazil, last month and marked his debut on Sunday with the winning goal in their 2-1 win over Sao Paulo.
Talking of Mancini's tactics, Robinho told the Daily Mail: "He has a different way of thinking. In Brazil, the coach respects the player's characteristics.
"In Europe, they are used to playing with two lines of four players and they don't want to know what you can do.
"There, if you are a forward, the coach sends you on to the pitch just to run. You have to run and that's it."
Robinho is due to return to City after the World Cup, and he is confident he can showcase his talents in South Africa.
"I am preparing mentally and physically to be the best player at the World Cup," he added. "I'm at a good age. I have to get flying."

And let's face it, who has been more successful - Robhino, or Hughes and the Taffia?

He makes me sick , he's up his own a*se and thinks he is bigger than any club .
When he joined he set off like a house on fire - then what nothing so the only person to blame is himself .
Mark Hughes and now Bobbi are far too respectful to be slagging him off in public .
Good riddance

I don't see Tevez, Bellamy or SWP looking stiffled. They seem to have as much freedom as they want.
Robinho, if you are reading this you need only take a look in the mirror if you are looking to blame anybody. Au revoir.

I personally hope he find what he is looking for and comes back to us because i loved watching him play but i am afraid it will not happen..... Like i said, he doesn't have the drive for it and prefers the easy road....that would explain why he never seemed to shine against quality opposition.

Top and bottom is he just can't hack it in the prem, like most Brasilians. Agree with the comment that if he can hack it at the World Cup we might get most of our outlay back (not that it matters of course)
