The skipper is set to team up with the 19-year-old Belgian for the first time at Hull on Saturday, which will be the Blues' TENTH centre-back pairing of a season riddled with injuries and international call-ups.
But Toure feels City have uncovered a real gem in Boyata, who came to the fore when the captain was away at the African Cup of Nations, and when Joleon Lescott and Nedum Onuoha were out injured.
Now Toure says he aims to craft Boyata's raw talent and physical attributes to transform him into a Premier League star.
"When I started at Arsenal, I was playing with Martin Keown and Sol Campbell, and they were always helping me," said Toure. "That is what I will do with Boyata.
"He can be a top player. I saw him in all three games while I was in Angola, and even at the age of 19 he is really good and can be one of City's top defenders."
Boyata's promotion to the first team has been swift and startling, not least to the player himself.
And with Onuoha fit again, manager Roberto Mancini indicated there is a new pecking order at Eastlands by including Boyata in his starting line-up for the Carling Cup semi-final second leg at Old Trafford last week.
The manager warned, however, that he will be cautious in the way he uses Boyata in future, following the accepted football wisdom of giving young players short bursts in the first team.
Mancini view
He pointed out that Boyata had got his chance due to the absence of several first-teamers being unavailable through injury and because of the African Cup of Nations, but that he had grabbed his opportunity well.
"I thought that he could do well for us at that time but also that he could be a good player for us for the future," Mancini said. "He is still young, but he did very well at Old Trafford. I'm pleased with him.
"Dedryck does not have much experience now but after he has played five, seven or 10 matches he will have learned a lot and will be comfortable around other players.
"He has good players around him and playing at Old Trafford, against someone like Wayne Rooney or Ryan Giggs, is a great way to learn for him."
The unlucky Onuoha was probably top of that pecking order at the end of last season when his raw power and pace, allied to a sharp mind, made him the Blues' best defender.
He penned a new five-year deal and looked forward to his career blossoming at the club he has loved since growing up in Miles Platting.
But the arrival of Lescott and Toure for a combined fee of £38m changed all that.
Injury problems at unfortunate times have also dogged his season, and by the end of Mark Hughes' reign, the 23-year-old was disillusioned and pondering his future.
City knocked back a West Ham bid to take him on loan on deadline day, concerned by Vincent Kompany's groin strain which is set to rule the Belgian - a key player since being drafted in to central defence - out of the next two games at least.
Mancini will have to choose between Boyata and Onuoha again, although Lescott has been back in training this week and is closing in on a return after nearly eight weeks out with a knee problem that required surgery.
Do you think Boyata is better than Onuoha? Have your say.

Sounds like Toure is looking forward to forming a great partnership and that has to be good for City !!

Boyata might be found a bit wanting in this direction purely down to his inexperience, but so are the rest of our central defenders and they dont have that excuse
At some stage we need to settle down with our best pairing and give it a long run and time to develop. The best teams have settled centre back pairings
I have to say, given that we dont have a decent defensive minded left back at the club, my preference would always be for Lescott, when he is back, to play left back and Toure and Kompany to be that 1st choice defensive pairing
If Richards played right back in this set up we would have the luxury of four good headers of the ball across the back four which is a big benefit in both penalty areas - in open play and at set pieces
For the KC stadium I would play Boyata purely on the grounds that he needs to develop his natural talent and will only do that by playing alongside soemeone as good ss Toure looked on Sunday
If Richards is not fit for Hull. I would play Onouha at right back as Zab worries me with daft tackles in critical places

For me the best central defence partnership this season has been Toure and Kompany together.

I've never enjoyed watching Onouha play. From the off he looked unsure of weather he was in the right place and too slow in making a pass which inevitably led to him getting robbed of the ball.
His main asset is a crunching tackle but the times where he he panics and gives away a penalty or is out of position for a goal is ridiculous.
He had a purple patch at the end of last season where he was pretty commanding but that is about it.
Boyata on the other hand is not flustered and much more aware of things that are going on.
If we can get him more and more games where we can and think this guy can learn very quickly.
Ned, I'm afraid to say, will not cut it and undoubtably end up at somewhere like Birmingham/Stoke/WHam

What is the point in being the richest club in the world and being unable to grasp what is needed, administratively, to sign the best players
I know that Cook supporters will suggest that Real are fibbing and it was them who tried to resurrect the deal
Either way, we find ourselves looking stupid, and worse, having an attack and a defence and loads of midfield players but not one of them a genuine box to box player to link it all together
Ireland is creative but very inconsistent and hasnt got a engine, Dejong is a great tackler but couldnt pass the salt
Barry's form comes and goes like the wind
Viera is an unknown at his age, I am not convinced he will hack it
Michael Johnson is off the radar
Our best bet seems to be Ibrahim - and he is a mere kid
Something just doesnt seem right

Even though Boyata has been really good since he came in, having someone with Kolo's experience alongside him will improve him more than it would playing with Vinnie or Ned. So with the right commitment and concentration, there's no reason why this kid can't stay here for a very long time and become Manchester City's answer to John Te... err... our answer to Paulo Maldini.

I just wish he wasn't a regular in the treatment room, and because of his history with injuries, and the knowledge that its a "when" not "if" he gets injured again, is what I think will see Boyata edge this in Mancini's decision, although for me, at the minute Nedum would be the winner.....JUST!

Johnno WAS showing all the signs of becoming the new Colin Bell. Sad thing is, something tells me he'll end up the new Paul Lake.

Seems like sour grapes to me by both parties.
Fact 1, City bid £15m for Gago (far too much for a player of limited ability like him IMHO), Madrid turned us down and asked for £20m or 18m euros.....deadline day approached and City made that bid, only for Madrid to suddenly up the ante again and ask for £25m.....City tell Madrid to F**k off....as they will look elsewhere.
Fact 2, City approach Parma prior to deadline day and lodge a bid of money + the not required services of Bojinov, he of 8 games in 2 years!!, Parma accept, City lodge for Visa approval, should have been a formality, as he was competing for a top team in a top league (and had also played more than 75% of his Int games in last 2 years), Visa and the appeal was declined on both occasions on deadline day.
Fact 3, City make last ditch attempt to ressurect the Gago deal, but will only make an offer of £16m, Madrid umm and aarghh for 3 hours before accepting, (in vain hope we would up the offer, but we stood firm), Madrid gave City no time to arrange any contract offer or request a Visa/Work Permit, thus the transfer was backed out of with minutes left, as it wouldn't be completed in time.
Cue the whinges from Gago's agent who has seen a signing on bonus, higher salary and bonuses all disappear before his eyes, because he sided with Madrid and never attempted to push through a deal, or force Madrid's hand, and Madrid are whinging, because they still have to pay his £65k a week salary and never play him, also there is no guarentee that anybody will chase him in the summer, and they also don't have £16m spare to put towards their bid for Wayne Rooney.
City 1 Madrid/Lombrilla 0
