Hart tipped for World Cup spot

BIRMINGHAM manager Alex McLeish believes goalkeeper Joe Hart is doing his World Cup chances no harm at all after hailing the England squad man's "terrific" form this season.

Hart joined Birmingham on loan from Manchester City in the summer and has played an integral role in his side's current 10-match unbeaten run.

The former Shrewsbury youngster was a worthy man of the match in yesterday's goalless draw at home to league leaders Chelsea and McLeish believes the stopper is well worth consideration for the England number one jersey.

Asked whether his first target in the January transfer window is the permanent signature of Hart, McLeish said: "If I could and if it was a good deal, then yes.

"I think Joe has come on a ton. We started the season having spoken about one or two things and he's improved out of sight and I'm pleased for him. He's a conscientious big guy and his own worst critic.

"He studies everything and takes everything on the chin from the goalkeeping coach Dave Watson to try to improve.

"He's a guy who improves and wants to get better and better and his form has been terrific.

"I know the England coaches think a lot of him, and I think they will think even more of him now with his Birmingham performances."

Got to say that when I watched MOTD las night, he has improved beyond all recognition! In terms of his shot stopping and "match winning saves" he was up there with the best - every bit as good as Shay.

Don't know if he has improved on crosses as there wasn't anything to judge him on but if yesterdays showing was typical - then I would have him back next season and he would be a serious contender for the number 1 jersey.

Not only this, he is also the leading stopper in the Premiership - Most number of save this season. He was brilliant yesterday. I think Given must have watched him before he come out for City, realising he had to come off his line for flighted balls.

This is one loaned player we cannot afford to loose.

I think Hart will be in the sqaud for the World he will our next number keeper theres no way we will sell him to Birmingham.

Hart's form dropped when Eric Steele 'left' and was replaced by Hughes's goalkeeping coach. We should say thanks to Brum but no thanks. He ain't for sale unless they gives us some ridiculous sum like £20 million! He could even replace Given next season if he goes to the World Cup

his decision making still leaves a lot to be desired and he gets more protection than shay given.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but joe hart will sign a permanant deal with birmingham negotitions are at an advanced stage and he is poised to pen a 5 year deal in january!

Keep not sell - extend the loan for another season but with a re-call clause should Shay get injured...

Let him play on loan, but we should keep him.

Hughes made it quite clear just two weeks ago that Hart was not for sale and he has not been gone long enough for "negotiations to be at an advanced stage" so I would love to know where JOhn Smith has got this one from. IMO he is not for sale under any circumstances but Birmingham can have him on loan for a while yet.

Hart is still not in the class of given but ignore the comments of last post as he will return to city at the end of the season.

If hughes had been in charge he would have gone to brum but with all the interest in young joe from spurs, villa et al and mancini being an admirer of him then he will be back at city.

No way should he be sold agreed that we should loan him out for another season he has benefited from being away from our previous non exsistant coaches.

Joe Hart will and can be England's No 1 as well as City's. There is no way he should leave Eastland's other than on loan, too good an asset to let go to another club, Hughes just wanted him out of the way, the same as he did with Jim Cassells, brought in his own clique to the Academy and look what happens dumped out in the first round of the FA Youth Cup, not what you would call preparing for the future, lack of foresight, just like the way he managed the first team.

Hart is known to favour a permanent move to brum on account of how he was treated by us - hopefully now we have a new regime he will reconsider but I would wish him the best whatever he decides.
