Manchester City

Spurs 3 City 0: Player ratings

6 GIVEN: His duties mainly consisted of bawling at his defenders – which he did very well.

6 RICHARDS: Stood up well in his defensive duties – deserves his place in the side at the moment.

5 TOURE: Caught napping for the second goal, but was generally pretty solid.

6 ONUOHA: Slotted in well enough alongside Toure, with a goalline clearance to deny Aaron Lennon.

5 SYLVINHO: Was never going to match Lennon for pace. A tough night.

6 IRELAND: Crisp passing caused Tottenham problems. Was a little unlucky with Niko Kranjcar’s goal.

5 BARRY: Patrolled the area in front of the back four with plenty of vigour.

6 DE JONG: Threw himself into tackles with relish – you’d never have guessed he’d been ill.

5 ROBINHO: Occasional flashes of creativity, and went close with one first-half effort.

6 TEVEZ: Typically tenacious, but had a real job fashioning any kind of opening.

5 ADEBAYOR: Barracked from start to finish for his Arsenal connections. Made little impact.

SUBSTITUTES SANTA CRUZ (for Robinho, 59): Couldn’t inspire a Blues recovery. 6 PETROV (for De Jong, 70): Lively cameo, and almost had a goal to show for it. 6

Dreadful performance, the whole team were absolutely bobbins, they played like strangers, we will not finish in the top half at this rate, pack your bags Hughes!

How long does it take for a football side to gel!

Shambolic defending, limp in midfield, nothing in attack. No ability to change the game, no response to going behind. I feel sorry for Ireland, Tevez and Petrov - they care. The rest are very very poor. Thank god the African Nations is coming so we can get rid of Adebayor and Toure - let's hope they get rid of the coaching staff for Jan as well. Rubbish and Hopeless.

Tevez 8 for the first 20 minutes, then along with the rest of the entire team, 5 at best

Sylvinho 5? A numerically positive rating would be generous! I cannot even begin to comprehend how he got in the Barcelona side, he is truly appalling- we thought Bridge was ropey, this guy should not play again- Zabaleta and Kompany on the bench who could go at RB and CB respectively and he goes with this turkey, shocking!

Bad game all round, the 3rd typified the lack of fight we had tonight, once their second went in the whole dynamic changed from an end-to-end game to a backs-to-the-wall encounter, never mind its early days, ish.

a disgrace, hurry up the african cup and dont come back, hughes 3 games to save his job

Robinho - minus 3, should never be seen in a City shirt again.
Stevie Ireland was brilliant last season, i.e Mark Hughes - minus 3 also!

Obviously not seen the game! So disappointing.

Another 14 points and we are safe well done Mark Hughes. Hughes and his backroom team are
destroying us we are light years away from the likes of Villa never mind United ....even Birmingham are higher in the league this after spending over £200m,please dont trust Hughes with any more money please we'll end up like United --SKINT!
Is this the beginning of another false Dawn?

Bye bye manager, thanks for nothing, anybody could do a better job than Mr Hughes, I dare say Gordon Brown could not do worse if he needs a new challenge.

you can call all our players for this effort but the problem is with one man!!!!!!!! MARK HUGHES the guy, like i have told all his backers for over a year is clueless, and for you who will still back him give one good reason why i should lay off him??????? any manager in the prem would have are squad and get better results, i for one will not hide behind a Chelsea win, Blackburn away an Chelsea home we were good other than that you will need a school chalk board to write the defencive problems, we don't have one leader, and as for ade yes very lazy but its easy to let him to be lazy, just dont give hime anythin to run ontto or chase down, LETS GET IT SORTED HUGHES OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT grego the peel hall blue

I thought Ireland was terrible. His passing was poor and he has lost all confidence in front of goal.

Very few players did themselves justice. Tevez early on, but really struggling to find anything positive to say. On the other hand, Spuds played really well and made us look worse than we are. So many times they had two or three players converging on a wide City player. No wonder we couldn't get any crosses in. I don't think they have better players than us, but they play much better as a team.

As at 22.31 hours, Ireland has 31% of the vote - don't make me laugh. Is Mrs Ireland running around an internet cafe posting votes?!!!! Are you mental? Pants the lot of them tonight. Hughesy motivation comes with the job im afraid, learn it or get ready for some P45 action because there are better managers about to come onto the 'persons seeking work section'! We are now drifting toward our natural finishing position for a guess, a steady 9th!! "Will that wash with the good Sheikh, praise for his kindness oh generous one"?

Ireland Unlucky for the first!!!!
Bottled it more like, his foot should have gone straight through the ball!!
Instead he bottled it and turned his back on the Ball.
