The exciting young winger celebrated his 20th birthday on Monday by knocking in his first senior goal two days later to embellish the Blues' Carling Cup quarter-final win over Arsenal.
But City manager Mark Hughes feels Weiss has had a more subtle effect on the team's fortunes, by putting pressure on Shaun Wright-Phillips.
Hughes felt Weiss's progress was one of the factors in Wright-Phillips' stunning display against the Gunners, as the Slovakian is now ready to play first-team football.
And that could help the England winger force his way into Fabio Capello's World Cup plans.
Weiss has been a vivid reminder of how far City have progressed in the last 18 months.
At the start of the season, he was being reminded by Academy boss Jim Cassell - under whom he shone in City's 2008 FA Youth Cup triumph - that he was in a whole new ball game, training with the senior pros. Since then, he has become a star of his country's successful World Cup campaign, picking up six caps along the route to South Africa, while grabbing minutes for City whenever he can.
Dazzling
Hughes wanted to be sure that the dazzling youngster, who scored in the Youth Cup final, was mature enough to handle the pressures of top- level football. Now he is.
Weiss is unlikely to feature against Chelsea because he is ill, but Hughes hinted that City fans will be seeing much more of him in the months to come.
The boss believes Wright-Phillips is aware the new kid on the block is rapidly becoming a man, and Wednesday night's destruction of the Arsenal left flank was partly a consequence of that.
"Maybe that was Vladi pushing Shaun, because he knows he has to produce at the right level to keep Vladi out of the team," said Hughes.
"That view can be taken by a lot of players in possession of the shirt. That's healthy, and the way I wanted the squad to be this season. It will reflect on the performances of the players in possession.
"Vladi is a little bit under the weather with his tonsils and flu-like symptoms at the moment. At some point in the season we will have to take a window and sort that out for him because if we leave it any longer it will start to drain him.
"He is a doubt for Chelsea, which is a shame because he made a real impact when he came on, and he is a player that does excite crowds.
"I was pleased to get him on the pitch and that he produced because it's important for young players to produce when they get opportunities.
"He is now getting to the point where he has my trust. That is important for young players.
Hughes trust
"We have to know that if we introduce them they will make more right decisions than wrong ones. That is what he is doing in training and when he is introduced."
If the emerging threat from Weiss is starting to pep up Wright-Phillips' game, the unassuming youngster is adamant it works both ways, and that he is learning by working alongside the England man.
But he also knows that with Wright-Phillips in the kind of form which terrorised the Gunners, he has to be patient for his chance.
"Shauny is an incredible player and he showed it against Arsenal," said Weiss. "That makes it hard for me to get into the team, but players might get injured, so I have to work hard and hopefully in the following games, the following seasons, I might get my chance.
"I am trying to learn a lot from Shaun because he can run for 90 minutes and is one of those players who never looks like getting tired.
"That is a big plus for us, as he does a lot of work going forward, but can also run back. Every Premier League player needs that."
But Weiss also warned that the difficulties for players who rely heavily on their individual ability to beat defenders, and produce moments of magic, are many. Players like Shaun, Robinho or me can't play well in every game," he said. "People expect Shaun to beat players, but it's not possible in every game. He was struggling in a couple of games, but worked hard and against Arsenal, he was the best player on the pitch.
"He is only small, but no-one can knock him off the ball. It's incredible how he can go past people - he makes it look easy, but it isn't. He has built his confidence in his last two games. He has not showed his best yet this season and in the coming games he will be one of the players who helps the team a lot."
How highly do you rate Weiss? Have your say.

LMAO :-
I'll never forgive Sir if he he puts out a second string in a game like this. If he thinks Gibson can outclass Barry, Park can out perform Bellamy or Wellbeck can out score Adebayor, then he is deluding himself. We need Rooney, Berbatov, Van der Sar and Fletcher in a game of this magnitude. I don't care what spin Sir trys to brian wash the more stupid United fans with, the REAL fans know we can't beat a £200 million pound team with also rans. Mark Hughes must be laughing himself to sleep at night because Sir is going to weaken his team intentionally and play right into his hands.

Shame we have not given him enough time on the pitch earlier this season when SWP was not at his best but I trust in Hughes ability to blood him in!
Looking forward to seeing him in the World Cup.
Forget sometimes how young our squad is ( smile)

He has grown in both stature and strength since then a looks a real talent now - if he keeps improving his decision making and the final ball I can see him becoming a really big player for us in the years ahead - does anyone know where he came from, how long on our books ?

He needs to put in 100% every game ...... his last few performances have set the standard and I don't expect that level to drop!
