GIVEN - His kicking game had to be spot on, but the defence protected him well 6

RICHARDS - Couple of crunching tackles early in the first half settled him down nicely 7

TOURE - His form hasn’t been great lately, but he was fired up against his old teammates 7

LESCOTT - His best display in a City shirt – muscular, composed and making vital interventions 8

BRIDGE - Good tackle when Wilshere nearly broke through, and stood firm throughout 7

WRIGHT-PHILLIPS - Arsenal couldn’t cope with him at all and his goal was an absolute screamer 9

IRELAND - Involved in much of City’s best attacking work, and denied a goal by Song’s body-check 7

BARRY - Maybe still feeling effects of a groin problem, but he put in a terrific shift for the team 7

BELLAMY - Missed two great chances to score but played his part in Tevez’s opening goal and set up Weiss 7

TEVEZ - Lovely run and finish to set the Blues on their way, and he worked tirelessly and deftly 8

ADEBAYOR - Perhaps too conscious of his need to behave, but no shortage of effort. 7

Stuart Brennan, I know it's not easy to rate players and you always leave yourself open to criticism, but 7 for Bellamy ? come oooonnnnnn .........

How come Weiss was on long enough to score a goal, but not long enough for your unfathomable marking system? Bellamy was at least 8!!

Outstanding performances by all the players, especially Shaun Wright Philips and Julian Lescott. Lescott is beginning to settle in now and has had 3 good games on the trot against Liverpool, Hull and Arsenal.

Ade was rubbish ! Didn't try and didn't run and when he got the ball he was more concerned with getting a free kick or the Arsenal player sent off. Was very excited when MH bought him but now i realise why Wenger didn't use him as much last season. Defo a squad player...needs to know that if he doesn't try, someone else will get his place. And Richards...OMG, his ONLY asset was his speed and to see Taore easily leave him in his wake, was embarressing.

Ireland is a top midfield player. But as an armchair supporter who is not at the games, you will miss most of what he does, as it is off the ball. He played well tonight. He got a lot of attacks going, and he broke up a lot of the arsenal football in midfield.

Bellamy is a player with great talent but he is wasted on the left..... he doesn't not provide the crosses a winger would, he also misses a lot of chances ..... not just tonight but at least 7 clear chances this season..... but players always miss more than they score I guess. Good game again tonight..... hopefully he can perform like that in PL some time soon?
Ireland just doesn't do much full stop....

Ian Cheeseman said Venger was is favourite manager. Well Mr Cheeseman what have you got to say now about the Rude, Nasty, Ungracious Venger we witnessed again tonight. On another note did you see Mark Lawrenson on BBC? he looked haggard and scruffy the BBC should have high standards and not allow scruffs in their studio and seen on TV. I hope he is not paid for his appearance.

Wright=Phillips & Lescott 1st time they have played well all season. Lets hope they can keep it up. Richards his same wandering self dragging the centre of defence out to cover for him. The rest played for a win & not before time. Maybe this will give some self-belief before the chelsea game. Bellamy has to play on Saturday along with Tevez. Their speed & never say die attitude will be our best form of defence/attack.

Fantastic performance, really hard to pick a MOTM. BELLAMY just edges it for me, not playing in his best possisition but still managed to scare the pants off them. Looking forward to playing the trash from next door, though me thinks that game may well be harder than tonights. But it would be good to get one over on them. WEMBLEY HERE WE COME.ctid

thought micah had a great game and was delighted for him. His defending set up swp on his run and a crunching tackle should have set up bellers for a tap in. hope he can play like that against chelsea at the weekend and hope the rest of the team do come on blues cant wait for 2nd leg at the swamp!

typical city, as i said. they will go on and beat chelsea now!
swp was awesome and was a great example to the rest of the players. adebayor's contribution was limited again! great result and we will have to see if ferguson keeps on playing his kids against us.
onwards and upwards, much better performance all round.

Typical team performance on the night. SWP, Tevez, Bellamy and Lescott on top. Just. Now we can go into the Chelsea-game with great(er) confidence.

We simply despatched Arsenal, as we did when we played their so-called A-version of footballers (4-2 remember?). I have always thought it is a form of arrogance to play 2nd string teams when the need to do so is not there. But hey, Wenger is French and a manager of a so-called top 4-side, so I reckon we can all understand where this is coming from. He'd rather be busy whining to the referee for Hughes leaving his area, and therefore not shook hands with the latter afterwards. Great sportmanship mrs. Wenger ... your mark is a simple 2 for turning up.

Only got to watch the fist half as i had work. But a great result. After checking result after work live in Aus. I thought we closed down Gooners when they had the ball in our final 3rd. At parts there were three players closing down Gooners players, and mad life hard for them to pass. This is needed each week. Loved MH having a go at Arsene, would like to see them going punch on. Showed passion i thought, which was lacking alot of late. Maybe this win is the one to turn the page. Wish i rang in sick to see the second half and to see the goals. But i'm happy to go to work if it means City win! CTID
