The Brazilian ace is set to return for the Blues against Hull tomorrow, and that could not have come at a better time as City home in on a top-four finish.
Sources in Spain have indicated Barcelona have abandoned any bid to sign Britain's most expensive imported player in next month's transfer window - even on loan.
Robinho has been out of action since suffering a stress fracture of his ankle playing for Brazil in early September, an injury which was complicated by an impingement.
But City won the three games in which he played at the start of the season, without conceding, and he is expected to be named as a substitute tomorrow. The Blues need to win to avoid a club record of seven successive draws.
Four of those draws have been away from home, but the Blues are intent on avoiding a third successive home stalemate after disappointing results against Burnley and Fulham.
First-team coach Eddie Niedzwiecki says the players are under no illusions about the importance of a win tomorrow.
"Three points are vital because we have to keep this gap as tight as possible," he said.
"Our neighbours down the road want to keep the gap closed between them and Chelsea, and we want to keep it closed between us and them.
"We need to go on a run of winning games, we are expected to do that now."

The fact that this proposed deal now looks unlikely just supports my theory that again we are the victim of the press trying their hardest to destabilize our efforts to gate crash the top four. On top of this we have had vague and unconvincing quotes coming out of the Nou Camp, which considering our new found relationship with Barca is slighlty worrying. Having read numerous articles surrounding Robinho's future there hasn't been one single concrete statement, all of it has been speculation, which has obviously turned Robinho's head.
The question that needs answering is why have City allowed all this nonsence to continue for such a long time. Is this not a form of tapping up, as we were accused of it with Terry and Lescott and we made offical bids for both players. We are rich, powerful and suddenly in a position where clubs like Barca are trying to cosy up with us, however on the other hand we are still seen as a soft touch, as this ongoing saga has had a negative impact on Robinho's career at City. If I was Al Mubarek or Cook I would be giving Barca's hierarchy a ring and telling them to put a sock in it and prevent giving this story any more column space.
Saturday should be really interesting as Robinho's performance will give us a clear indication as to where his future lies. He may turn on some real samaba style, hoping that Barca are still keeping an eye on him, or he may not show up, as he has made his mind up that he wants out in January. Which ever Robinho turns up, until the transfer window closes I have a feeling that his future will continue to be a topic of discussion in the press.

Obviously I would love us to win, but surely if we were to lose, then that would avoid a club record of seven successive draws.

Clearly, I would love City to win, but surely if we were to lose, then that would avoid breaking the club record of successive draws.

Sorry mate, you have just shown your complete ignorance. City's owners are from Abu Dhabi which is the extremely rich and stable neighbour of Dubai. Dubai's problems are a bit like the Glazer's, they owe more money than they could ever hope to repay

As long as we win and Robinho gets some game time showing flashes of just what we've been missing,we can all go out on the lash happy, can't we?

micro brain is incapable of even taking in the news properley. City's ownership is nothing to do with Dubai, we are owned by the business group in the other emirate which is Abhu Dabi and unlike Dubai is
filthy rich in oil money !

And if the Council want their "house" back, they will need to find approx £75m to purchase the improvements, and I can't see that happening this side on the year 3000.
And when your club regularly attracts 75k after having won nothing for over 35 years, then you armchair Rags can gloat. Until then have some respect for the 45k that still carry the torch of hope and turn up, some of which, my son included, have never seen City win anything of any worth.
