MICHAEL Johnson's return to fitness after an 18-month injury nightmare will be like signing a "multi-million-pound player" for Manchester City.
The 21-year-old midfielder, who has been struggling with a mysterious pelvic injury, played the full 90 minutes in Monday night's 1-1 reserve draw with Blackburn.
Having made such an immediate impact on the first team at the start of Sven-Goran Eriksson's only season in charge of the Blues, it has been a painful and frustrating battle back to fitness for Johnson.
Coach Eddie Niedzwiecki told mcfc.co.uk: "Jonno is a young player who's had an horrendous time with injuries, and at times you could see it in his face that he was devastated by what had happened to him.
"As a youngster, all you want to do is to play football, to be out there. Instead, he had a year out after doing ever so well at Sunderland at the end of August and then breaking down."
There have been a few questions about Johnson's lifestyle during his time on the sidelines but Niedzwiecki is quick to point out that being unable to train usually leads to weight-gain in athletes.
"However hard you work, if you're not playing you put on the odd pound here and there," he added. "But, believe me, Jonno has been working really hard and he's looking better by the day and by the game.
"He came on against Scunthorpe and scored that wonderful goal, and the boss and Mark Bowen are both of the opinion that for him to come back is like signing a multi-million-pound player.
"Michael is a quality footballer and the target is just for him to be playing games, working on his fitness and training day in, day out. He has missed that."
Jonno came through unscathed against Blackburn and is likely to be on the bench against Hull on Saturday.

If he's anything like he was before his injury he will be a great addition.
Where he will fit into the team though will be a difficult decision but its always good to have too many options than not enough!

Robinho was bought as a marketing ploy not just as a player, I think this is why he gets preferential treatment. Increasing brand awareness seems more important than on pitch performance!

Johnson and Weiss for me, at least at home against poor teams like Hull.
Let's stuff them on Saturday and then beat Arsenal and Chelsea and then we are back in business!

It's probably something to do with the type of injuries the players (you mentioned) have had, and how long they've been out of action for.
Not to mention the fact that Robinho doesn't work anywhere near as hard as VK or Johnson so he probably doesn't need to be as fit anyway....hmmm?!

Fact you say? No, I think you will find that this is opinion - Below is the definition of the word 'Fact' according to Wikipedia.
"A fact is a pragmatic truth, a statement that can, at least in theory, be checked and confirmed. Facts are often contrasted with opinions and beliefs, statements which are held to be true, but are not amenable to pragmatic confirmation."
Check your Facts.

what a gland you are...
give the lad a break, he's been out injured for 12-18 months !
before his injuries he was a outstanding prospect, only time will tell if he gets over his injuries, but for you to slate him is just bang out of order.

As for you Blue Moon, there's nothing more irritating than someone who spouts garbage and calls it FACT - FACT!
