Rumour mill: Gattuso City link denied

TERRIER: Gattuso shadows Cristiano Ronaldo

GENNARO Gattuso's agent has played down talk linking the AC Milan star with a move to Manchester City.

Reports emerging on Wednesday morning claimed big-spending City were lining up a January swoop for the Italy international.

The tough-tackling midfielder, who has previously been linked with United, is reported to be unhappy at Milan under new coach Leonardo, with a suggestion City could offer him an escape route out of the San Siro.

However Gattuso's representative Andrea D'Amico insists he has not heard anything from City and that the 31-year-old has no problem at Milan.

"There is no truth in the Manchester City link," D'Amico told skysports.com

"I have had no contact with Manchester City at this moment.

"Gennaro is coming back from injury and he is OK at Milan."

But it was in the Daily Mirror , it MUST be true ! No doubt Nick the voice of the muppets and his mates will be on soon , slagging Hughes for going after another defensive midfielder , seeing as they believe everything they read (e.g. Bentley)

If he is unhappy with the coach at Milan why would he be happy with Hughes?
I personally get tired of hearing these footballers whinging on.They are in a very fortunate position.

Why would we want this guy anyway? He's one-dimensional like De Jong and others.On second thoughts I guess he'ed fit right in.

I know he's the wrong side of thirty and his agent is denying the claims, but he would bring a wealth of experience and winning mentality. Just the sort of pro who could help to instill a calming influence on our current crop of players.

Not really relevant here but I see that Russia have been knocked out of the World Cup tonight. This should make Hiddink available as a manager. He did some really good things with Chelsea last season. Perhaps he could come to us should the owners become impatient with Hughes - especially given our very moderate form of late.
