I greatly admire the City boss Mark Hughes - he's working extremely hard and he's rebuilding - but it looks as if the City fans must wait at least another year before they're celebrating seeing their team win some silverware.
City have to be admired, they're a fine club and they are heading in the right direction, but I just feel they still don't have the quality to be genuine title contenders.
I saw City play Birmingham last weekend and they could have easily been beaten.
It will be interesting to see how City fare in the cup knockout competitions.
They have a lot of talent at their disposal but it's extremely difficult when you rebuild and then expect major success in the first season.
As for the Premiership title, it appears to be turning into a three-horse race between United, Arsenal and Chelsea. They are the top three in my view. Liverpool are going to struggle and they've dropped points. Having been decimated by injury has not helped. It's a shame, but that's football for you.
United certainly appear to be coming good again and are looking strong. They have the quality. I've said before it's so pleasing to see Antonio Valencia doing well at Old Trafford. He's playing well.
He's a fine footballer and he will come into his own even more in time. Wilson Palacios, another former Wigan player, is also making his mark at Tottenham. He too is another top-quality player.
Having developed players like Valencia and Palacios, Wigan's status has certainly been enhanced. We've plenty of quality in our ranks.
It is, however, a major blow to have lost our talented left-back, Maynor Figueroa.
What a quality player this lad is. Top left-sided players are still something of a rarity and I feel Figueroa is up there with the best. He just keeps improving every week.
We certainly missed him at Portsmouth last week. The 4-0 defeat was disappointing, but it's been a tough start for us and we're heading in the right direction.

Sick of this twerp giving his opinion on every other team apart from his own!
Instead of wondering wether City will win anything THIS YEAR or not...think about your own team winning NOTHING this year or the next or the next or for the next 100 years after !

Who cares what Dave Whelen thinks? He states we are not challengers and this can be seen because we struggled away at Brum. Oh well that counts United out then seeing as they were beat at Burnley and struggled at home against Sunderland. Chelsea dont have a hope in hell after a defeat at Wigan and Arsenal can forget it because they lost at our no hopers!
Dont choke on a steak and kidney Dave!

Dave Whelan.....doesn't he like going on holiday when Wigan are still playing football. I lost count of the number of times he's missed major games because he's been sunning himself!!!
When this guys realises there are other teams in the world, other than MU, and Wigan (whoops, nearly forget them, for a ssecond), I'll start to listen to what he has to say. Until then, he can do one.
P.S. Where are Wigan in the table???

Sometimes its better to keep quiet and let people think your a fool rather than than opening your mouth and confirming it.

He goes on about how good Valencia and Palacios are, pity he couldn`t hold on to them eh? That`s because Wigan will never be where we are right now, or in the future.
As for the rags coming good and looking strong, don`t make me laugh, even though they are second in the league, they are scraping through on lucky last minute equalisers and odd goal wins, even the rag supporters admit this seasons side is not up to scratch.
So thanks for your opinion Dave, but I think we will be OK without it ta. CTID

Im sure at the start of the season our chairman gave Mark Hughes the target of top six this season, and given the outlay, i think thats fair enough.
The media are amazing. i wish i could get a job in it, you just need to be a good liar it seems.
