EMMANUEL Adebayor is set to return to the side for Saturday's Barclays Premier League clash at home to Burnley after missing the goalless draw at Birmingham four days ago with an ankle injury.
Club skipper Kolo Toure also seems set to face the Clarets after he joined Adebayor on the sidelines last weekend with a heel problem.
However, Roque Santa Cruz is likely to miss the match at Eastlands after sustaining an ankle injury at St Andrew’s which forced him off midway through the second half.
Hughes said: "Roque hasn't trained since the weekend.
"He got a really bad bang on his ankle. He's got a lot of blood in and around the area that needs to come out.
"We need to shift that and we're hopeful he will be able to train tomorrow, but we'll have to wait and see.
"Ade and Kolo have trained for the last couple of days. They've had a couple of sessions and there was no reaction today from the work yesterday.
"The feeling is they will be okay for the weekend."
After a run of four successive draws which have halted City's momentum, even if they are in the top four, Hughes is naturally delighted Adebayor will be available again.
City magic
"You always want players that can produce moments of magic when the team is not dominating proceedings as you would like," said Hughes.
"Those type of players have the ability to change the game in your favour. Ade has that capability and having the option of him this weekend will be a bonus for us."
Left-back Wayne Bridge has joined Santa Cruz in the treatment room with a slight strain above the knee.
"Wayne hasn't trained either since the weekend," Hughes said. "We're hoping he will train tomorrow, but again we'll see how he is. We're hopeful he'll be okay."
Robinho, meanwhile, is now doing "field-based work" as he closes in on a return to action after more than two months out with a stress fracture of the ankle.
Hughes, though, appears resigned to letting Robinho go to meet up with his Brazil team-mates ahead of the international break, even though he has warned he is not match ready.
"Hopefully he will start to step up his training next week, and it is a case of getting him match fit because he's not fit," added Hughes.
"He's got international matches next week and the likelihood is he will have to meet up and get checked out by the doctors.
"Obviously it would be wrong for him to play."
City, meanwhile, have announced a discount on home match tickets to all current armed forces personnel, starting with the match against Sunderland on December 19.
City CEO Garry Cook said: "We regularly receive correspondence from City fans who are serving their country all around the world and we hope this discount will make it a little easier for them to see their team whilst on leave."

As a pre-retirement treat last year my wife and I went to Florida on holiday. Every Shop, Restaurant, Ammusment event gave The Military - and Family members a discount which also extended to veterans. This discount varied from 10% off to free entry into theme parks not just for the US military but all NATO Allies. Bush Gardens in Tampa we got free entry and discounted meal deals.
It's good that City have made a start reccognising the vital job our military personnel do - lets hope we can set-up a Dominoes effect. Other clubs, events and outlets need to support our troops - Spread the word.
Party elections are on the horizon - badger your local candidates to this worthy cause going.

Bridge and Roque have always given me doubts. whether it's because Bridge had no cover from Robinho tracking back and putting extra pressure on him, I don't know.
Roque on the other had, Most players sparkle in their first year in the Prem until the opposition get to know how they opperate - this also goes for clubs. Hull City, first half of last season is a prime example. Great players will always shine, I'm just not sure Roque is that type of player.
Regardless, once they pull on that City shirt they become legends - except for Tal Ben Hyaena

Hughes will drop SWP and Ireland again. Dejong is his favourite captain.

Cruz would have been dropped anyway and Bridge is easily replaceable.... hopefully Sylvinho makes that spot his own - Bridge has been consistently appalling.... contribution to the team offensively = zero!

You're right to your view! however where does it stop?
One thing i would say to your comment! is the other jobs you've mentioned, you forget that we as soldiers are not just front line soldiers! but we also have to stand in to the jobs, such as firemen when they go on strike. For when they want a pay rise. Agreed nurses live on a shoe string budget also, and do a wonderful job, as do firemen to support the community, and we would struggle without these individuals.
When you risk your life to stay alive, and the lives of your friends in your Platoon or section for six months, then you start to understand the importance of the front line soldier. Believe me, what we go through i would not wish my neighbour to endure.
You only get to read what the media write about the deaths and not the casualties.
so what City are doing is morale for us in need, in very tough times.
This is only my opinion, which is why we're fighting to give other people the same as what we take for granted each day. I also failed to mention, i'm not trying to be any different. As it was I, that signed that dotted line 16 years ago.
Back to football! Lets make Burnley think they're at raukes Drift and increase our goal difference.

I am teacher at a Comprehensive School. I know what you mean "putting your life on the line".
Otherwise I am fully behind King Arthur's comment. It's their job choice and don't tell me any of them "on the line" do it for "the greater good - democracy"
