The big Togolese striker is expected back in action for the visit of Burnley on Saturday after missing two games with a back spasm problem.
And it is no coincidence that his problems with injury and suspension have come at the same time as City's sprint start to the season has slowed.
The Blues are fourth after four draws on the trot, but a home game against the team with the worst away record in the Premier League is seen as the perfect opportunity to hit the winning trail again ahead of the international break.
Blues assistant manager Mark Bowen has revealed that since the opening four games, in each of which he scored, Adebayor has been troubled by a series of small injuries which have seen him miss matches but also go into others below par.
"It's been difficult for him," said Bowen. "Ade was flying at the start of the season, for the first four or five games, and then had a suspension and an international break, which meant he missed a few games.
"He has also had a few niggling little injuries, so hasn't had a lot of actual day-to-day training. We work on intensity when we train outside, and he has missed that.
"His last couple of games have been about trying to patch him up and sling him back on to the field of play.
"He is really positive when he goes out there but it's not the same when you have missed training days. It has affected him going into games - he has had a mental thing about maybe not being 100 per cent.
"But this week he seems to be pain-free and hopefully will be 100 per cent for the weekend."
Will Adebayor score against Burnley? Have your say.

Good Journalism, key comments from ACTUAL City staff, which gives us a real insight into what is actually going on with players and maybe justifies why we've seen below par performances from some players.
However with the depth of our squad, I don't know why they've been "patching players up"....?

It was patently clear against Birmingham, that Roque was nowhere near fit, so why on earth did he start the match?
Surely if Ade is out Sparky must have a plan "B" that doesn't involve a half fit player!?
Or am I living in a dream world?

I personally would love to see Robinho play in the centre and would be gutted if he were shipped out before being given the chance in his favourite position. How long before he is fully fit anyone ?
If Johnson is getting to full fitness then perhaps play him at the weekend instead of De Jong ?

Wow! Aren't we all truly blessed to be in the presence of The Omniscient One? No, I'm not referring to Mourinho, but rather Dutch Eric, who is sooooo gifted and all-knowing that He can tell us all who is, and who isn't, a True Blue, from his lofty perch in some moldy cottage in Holland.
As someone who is part-Dutch and carries a Frisian surname, I want you all to know that this vile cretin is not representative of all the good people in the Netherlands. Dutch Eric is a horrifying anomaly, a reminder that even the most progressive of societies have rancid elements.

fact that Hughes seems to be playing semi-fit/out of form players all over the pitch. Was I wrong to think that the huge sums of money spent acquiring two quality players for every position would allow us to rotate
personnel if/when necessary?

Mate, I'm a Sporting fan, where Caicedo is playing this season. He has been absolutely appaling so far, he was signed to fill the shoes of Derlei who people may remember playing for Porto in the CL. With him retiring, Sporting were looking for a prolific striker with a good work rate, capable of taking the heat off Liedson the main striker. Caicedo has done none of that, has not scored a goal or shown any flair and is now on the bench more often than not. Another rubbish signing from Eriksson me thinks, maybe we can offload him to Notts County next season.

Wonder why Villa are conceding so many goals?, familiar face turning like the titanic.
Boj is doing well on loan I understand, shame we didn't keep him until RCS fully fit!
Let our players show that it is not only Robinho who is worth the money and knock a few in!
