Gossip: City eye Rodwell

MANCHESTER City have joined United in the race to sign highly rated Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell, according to a report.

The 18 -year-old is a regular in the Toffees line up and Blues boss Mark Hughes has been sending scouts to monitor his progress, report the Daily Mail, with any potential move likely to come next summer.

Rodwell has been playing in midfield for Everton but his long-term position is seen as centre back.

I went to watch Bolton vs Everton this season and in a poor Everton team that day he was head and shoulders above the rest of the Everton team - At first I thought it was Tim Cahill as his energy took him all over the place. He certainly impressed me that day. He fits the Mark Hughes requirement in that he can play in a few positions and physique wise he is now beefed up from the skinny teenager of last season.

PS I know City were at home that day but it was a work committment that took me to the Reebok.

they are two completely different players!! how can u even mention weiss as a reason not to buy rodwell.

as regards to buying rodwell, he will become a very good player but dont pay too much for him because his position isnt a neccesity at the minute

Why should City keep paying good money just so that Everton can operate in the EPL? After the Lescott debacle, I find myself having complete disdain (not sylvan mind!!!!) for David Moyes and the way he conducts his business. Surely we have our own decent kids coming through? I would prefer someone like Wilshire from Aresenal anyway - he's quality.
