The Brazil international is a reported target of the big-spending Barclays Premier League side, but his representatives insists there is no likelihood of such a move.
"Every day there's a story linking Maicon to a different club," said Maicon's agent Antonio Caliendo to tuttomercatoweb.it.
"First it was Real Madrid, then Manchester United and now City.
"I think Maicon has already reiterated his wish to remain at Inter."
Maicon has been a key player in Jose Mourinho's side and is under contract at the San Siro until June 2013.
Caliendo did not rule out a move under the right circumstances but appeared to dismiss City's chances of persuading him to move.
"If the likes of Real or United knock on the door then you consider the eventual offers," said Caliendo. "But we are talking about a top player who is fighting for the league title, the Champions League, the best player in his role, what would he be doing at City?
"I think it would be unthinkable, let's not joke about it."
What do you think? Have your say.

Had anyone really heard of Ferguson worldwide before his success at United? And i would argue that his first 4 years there were hardly a roaring success......and United had plenty of money for him to spend as well in that time.Hughes has been here less than two seasons and arrived with the club in yet another turbulent period in it's chequered history.
He needs TIME to get the club set up the way he wants, get his players in,start to build and get them used to his methods and training etcetra. One season and 10 games into this season is hardly enough is it?
However we got there and whether it is on our merits or other clubs failings[what...you mean other clubs lose and draw as well, lol?]we at present sit FOURTH in the table. We are in the quarter finals of the carling/league cup.We are the only club in the premier league to have lost only ONCE.I would call that progress and an improvement so far.Given more time to gell, some tweaking,a couple of players back from injury, the odd addition, hey who knows where we will end up?
I am not a clairvoyant so i don't know if Mark Hughes will succeed or not.But he has to be given a chance.Sure Morinho would come in with all guns blazing,,,but would it last?Look at Keegan. He does the same at a new club but it soon wanes out.
Mark Hughes is on target.Forget the fan's and media hype. His target last year was top ten...achieved.His target this year is the top six.Achievable and on course.Anything else is a bonus.
I will say again as i have said in other posts.Only when we win a trophy or two and are a known face in Europe will the really top players come. That will be the same with Hughes or any manager.End of.

We have to get to that level, saying that's where you want to be to a player or his agent is not going to convince him or his client everytime.
There are those that will join because they can see the big picture and want to grow with the club towards it, others will only join when we are there. It's common sense really so I can't see what this article is trying to say.
Just one question though which Egyptian dynasty does tuttomercatoweb belong to?

Hughes' mandate last season WAS NOT a top 10 finish i.e. spending 100mm, having a stronger squad than Sven who finished 9th. Hughes in his first press conference with the club was beaming, thinking inside that he had a better squad than what he left behind at Blackburn with promises of Thaksin's cash (which didnt come about but ended up with the Sheikh's cash). He said he expected himself to improve on the previous season of 9th so finishing 10th was an underperformance in anyone's book, even his.
The talk of top 6 was made before both Khaldoon and Hughes admitted themselves that we had completed all the business we wanted to do in the last window that we thought would take 3 or 4 more. The target of 6th was based on those parameters and if you missed Khaldoon's interview after we bought those players (and also good pieces in the Guardian a few months back), if you scratch the surface you'd have to be naive not to accept the fact the Sheik & Khaldoon have told Hughes they want us to be pressing for top 4. And this doesnt mean fighting Liverpool for 4th spot until the last day of the season, this means doing our best to compete with Manure and Chelsea with a CL spot as a fallback if we dont win the title.
I agree with your comments about stability and I've seen too many managers in through the revolving door over the years that nothing would annoy me more than seeing another new face to start from scratch. But fans need to be prepared for the fact that failure to finish at least 4th, which will be a direct result of players that Hughes pinpointed underachievnig massively (eg. Bridge, Lescott, RSC), then he is goner.
At a time when our performances should be improving with time with no midweek exertions of Europe or suspensions and with the depth to cover injuries, its worrying that our performances have been getting worse over the last month. More the stuff from weekend, and 7th will be a challenge with Villa and Spurs above us.

Maicon's agent: We already have 4 better players than your client (Ade, Robbie, Tevez and Given) that is why we would want him to come.

3/11/2009 at 15:25 - Thanks for your support, I am really going potty here wondering if it is me or not thats going mad. I still cannot understand why people cannot see his failings are so major we wont progress at the rate that the investment the owners have made deserves.
Quite right on your point, get Mouriho here and every top player in the world will be queuing up to join us. genius management, tactics and money to buy any player we want is a potent aphrodisiac I can tell you!
Uwe the Goat, Brighton (03/11/2009 at 17:36)
Maicon looks a good player, he is already at the Italian Champions who are going well again, and he is a first teamer for Brazil, but at the end of the day he is only a full-back with no genuine allegiance to Inter, if City want him and enough money is put on the table then he will join City.
Do you promise to come back on here in January and tell me I was right?

When you say our "recent run of form" I trust you are referring to our last two results. TWO RESULTS!! The draw at Villa and Wigan were decent results when you look at how both teams are doing in the league. Admittedly, the draw at home to Fulham was poor and the performance at Birmingham was disappointing to say the least but it's hardly time to panic. 4th in the league with a game in hand is hardly the stuff of nightmares? We are a year into our 'project' and I have to say that I'm quite happy with it. I'm sure it won't all run smoothly all the time but tell me a club that does no matter what they've spent.
This is just another non-story of remarks by an agent wanting us to offer more money for his player. All agents want their players to move as it makes them more money each time. Why would any agent rule out a potential suitor? Easy, they wouldn't unless they had a hidden agenda.

As much as it pains me to say it, as I really can't stand him I think we need a right back like Gary Neville. Solid and makes defending his priority. Just off to wash my mouth out with soap and water.
