Gossip: City eye Yaya Toure

MANCHESTER City have been linked with a move for Barcelona's Yaya Toure - brother of Blues skipper Kolo.

Barcelona have hinted they may be ready to let the midfielder go, report the Sun, with the Nou Camp side considering a swoop for Liverpool's Javier Mascherano.

Meanwhile, the Blues are still keeping a close eye on Osasuna right back Cesar Azpilicueta and Inter Milan's Maicon.

And Portsmouth are keen on re-signing City striker Benjani in January, report the Daily Mirror.

Clearly, what we need with DeJong, Barry, Johnson, Kompany and Zabaleta on the books is another defensive midfielder!!!

Where should City strengthen in January? One word....left back. Bridge was awful on sunday along with others. He just cannot perform under any sort of pressure. He would perhaps be useful in a wingback sort of role but when do any teams play that sort of system anymore.

Personally, I don`t think we need him, good to get Benjani off the books though, he stands very little chance of getting in the side now. CTID

We've also been linked with Louis Suarez of Ajax, in case Robinho leaves the club. And with "just" 8 weeks away to the next window, I'm sure there will be another 40 names passing the City-gossip ... make that 50.

I dont believe Yaya will be turning up unless Kompany goes the other way ?. I think the one person Barca want is Robinho & i believe they will offer money + T.Henry in return ??

We need a right back and Lescott going to left back! In the meantime use SWP as right back as he cannot do a worse job than the other options!
Either Kompany or Nedum playing alongside Toure - sadly good full backs are becoming extinct!

How many holding /defensive midfielders do we need or want if this story is true MH wants his head seriously examining.We've already got De Jong,Barry,Kompany,Zableta,plus Ireland and Johnson although in a different mould they've never been adverse to putting there foot in????

Surely we need full backs and a ball playing midfielder if anything,ask Barca how much they want for Xavi ?

Yaya Toure is without doubt a good player, but do we need another midfielder in his 'mould' ? Like another poster, I feel that we need serious competetion for the role of Left Back. Larsson, operating down the right was a constant source of supply to Birmingham at the weekend. I think most Managers are aware of our weakness in this area, and will continue to exploit it. May be Lescotts form might improve, if he had someone a little bit more competant next to him at left back. Pip..pip..

Our midfiled is completely unbalanced by too many defensive midfileders and out and out wingers. We need someone that makes everything tick and sprays passes like Alonso. Put Barry on left side of midfield. Let De Jong or Kompany be next to the creative player. Then a right sided player than is more solid, retains the ball, can beat a player, strong...

definetly yes, one of the best if not the best defensive midfielder in the world, whilst we have good players for that position there nothing more than that, if an opportunity presents itself of significantly improving the team we should take it. Why play two defensive midfielders when we can play one? still in need of a left back and right back too.

We certainly don't need another defensive midfield player we already have three,Ireland is our only creative player who can weight a pass.
We do need to give Ned a run at right back to see if he is the answer to the right back spot,if he does not come up to scratch then I would go for Andreas Beck (22)the young German International,I have watched him a number of times on TV and he looks a class player to me!

Would be a great signing if true, also, I wish people would stop seeing him as solely a `defensive midfielder`, he is much much more than that, great dribbling skills, can see and execute a pass, quick and strong, anyone watch the Champions league semi with Chelsea at the Nou Camp last season where he handed Essien his `arris` ? how many players do that ?
