Hansen backs Blues to stay up

FOOTBALL pundit Alan Hansen has caressed football's crystal ball with his large hands and decreed it will be Leeds not City that go down.

This is either a blessing from a football master or the kiss of death, depending on your views of Hansen's predictive powers.

He famously said that United wouldn't win anything with kids after Ferguson jettisoned the old guard from Old Trafford. And we all know what happened next.

The struggle for Premiership survival is looking, at the moment, like a battle to be the worst between the Blues and Leeds.

Struggle

While City keep struggling to take all three points, Leeds manage to do something worse, like not take a point at all.

Writing for BBC Sport Online, Hansen echoes what is becoming a recurring mantra for City fans, namely how he doesn't understand what the Blues are doing down there in the first place.

For some reason, pundits tend to think this bring some sort of comfort to fans facing possible relegation.

Due to City's superior goal difference, with Leeds needing to get realistically four points more than City over the next three games, Hansen's hunch is that it will be Elland Road not Eastlands that hosts Division One footy next season.

City fans will be hoping Hansen, this time, has got it right.

Is Leeds' form rather than City's going to ensure the Blues stay up? Have your say

What Hansen is judging this team by is the fact we have players who were once considered good! Sinclair, Reyna, Fowler, Macca, Distin, Bosvelt, etc etc - the fact is that the only reason these type of players look good in a team is because they have the workhorses - midfield powerhouses doing all the work - these guys are show pony's.... because KK has lacked any foresight this season we find ourselves with too many of the same type of player! no fighters, no workers! We need to put a bid in for Danny Murphy - i'm not sure we can afford B#4m though. Swap him for Barton and Distin if Houllier will take them.

What would happen if both City and Leeds won their games this weekend and all other results went in our favour? The Everton game could turn into a relegation decider if Leeds are still in contention. Crumbs! At least we would be on the Telly again instead of The Arsenal.

Im not so sure but is there many City fans confident we can beat Newcastle? a draw is the likely outcome after which comes the away game at Boro a possible defeat is on the cards and its never an easy fixture at the best of times so if Leeds draw at bolton and go on to beat Charlton at home we may have to beat Everton in our last match, its not quite like the Luton/David Pleat senario but Moyes men aren't pushovers away from home these days, its going to be mighty close!!!!

Defo !!! told friends of mine around 2 months ago i thought it wouldn't be city's form that decided there fate it would be the form of the teams around and below them and i stick by that now.

I still think we will stay up on goal difference with 38 points and that it will go to the last game.Although I must admit to having an awful feeling that after keeping out of the bottom three all season, we will find ourselves in that position at 4.50 on 15/5.That would just be typical City, wouldn't it?

the fact that we can't even buy a win at the moment suggests that it won't all be over come this weekend. i predict draws against newcastle and everton and we'll get beat at the riverside. our only saving grace is that leeds won't win more than one of their remaining games

Garbage. City will lose against Necastle and Middlesborough and draw last match with Everton. Leeds will beat Bolton and Charlton and draw at Chelsea when Chelsea.
We're down. Get used to it.

50/50 between City and Leeds. I would bet that after this weekend the only thing separating the two will be goal difference... though I really wish it was six points as well.

What a load of pessimists !They all got this one wrong didn't they ? The bottom line is that we should all have a lot more faith in our own team and manager - I reckon we'll beat both Middlesborough AND Everton - roll on next season with KK in charge - it'll be a lot better I'm sure.CTID.
