SHEIKH Mansour has completed his 100 per cent buy-out of Manchester City... and now the focus is on the multi-million pound re-development of Eastlands.
M.E.N. Sport has established that hush-hush talks between the club's top brass and the town hall stadium lease holders are at an advanced stage.
The extensive talks have covered such topics as increasing the 47,000 capacity of the ground and the naming rights of the City of Manchester Stadium.
They are considered as being of low priority for the immediate future but top of the agenda is the prospect of re-developing land close to the stadium as a huge state-of-the-art club training facility that with the club's wealth would be the best such facility in the Premier League.
A switch of training facilities to East Manchester would put a huge question mark over City's recently upgraded Carrington complex – bought 10 years ago under Joe Royle's regime for £500,000 from the University of Manchester – and the Platt Lane training centre in Moss Side.
The town hall are determined that the community will benefit from the prospect of City's huge expansion of Sportcity with one idea being the provision of artificial pitches for public use.
City owner Sheikh Mansour and his Abu Dhabi United Group for Development and Investment now own the entire club after gaining control of the final 10 per cent from disgraced former Thailand Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
“As a result of the transaction, Manchester City is now 100% owned by his highness Sheikh Mansour,” said a club statement.
The Sheikh has already invested huge sums in the club, sanctioning a British record £32.5m capture of Robinho on the day of his buy-out and spending in excess of £120m on new players this summer.

Last night's attendance 24k so you don't need to increase capacity when there is already a spare 20k+ seats.

Demolish the second tier behind each goal and create a huge banked 'Kop' behind each goal like Borussia Dortmund.
Exciting times

unless the team is playing a more glamourous club in a more glamourous competition ..glory hunters surely not?

Embarrassing, and the team wasn't much better against Fulham Reserves,we don't deserve what the Sheikh has done and is doing if this is how fans bother.

you rags have won everything(you keep reminding us)in the last 15 to 16 years and to have an attendance of just 50k last night should be more worrying for you lot than our 24k that you keep reminding us have won nothing for 34years.

as ordinary fans won't be able to afford to go and that obviously is the dilemma faced by clubs aspiring to success today

Bring all the ground up to the top tier height & lower the pitch, there's heaps of waisted space there..!

Makes me laugh these fanny utd fans having a dig at the current attendance.
We got 24000 for our second game in a competition that is our 3rd priority. For a club that hasn't won anything for 30 odd years - (you tell me the exact number as all reds keep a closer eye on it than City fans do) I think its ok.
Imagine if utd had not won anything in that amount of time? You'd get nowhere near that! But you'd be out of business anyway because you wouldn't be able to pay your debts off hahahahaha.
Anyway, I was in the Citizen's Suite last night for the first time. It was £60 per ticket but was packed out and well worth the money, I recommend it for any fan, the food was outstanding ina nice relaxed atmosphere.
Had to cringe though everytime the resident compare Gary Owen said "anyone need a wee you know where it is" and, "you can't light up in here it's no smoking this ground now you know".
Brian Kidd gave a few words on his ideas for the Academy too so apart from the game it was a great night!

I accept performances and results take time to develop but the money that has been invested into the team surely has to bring forward more quickly better displays than we had against Fulham, last Sunday also emphasised we are still some way off the likes of Chelsea,Liverpool and United and even though we recently defeated Arsenal I honestly think over a season they are a better unit.
Lets not get excited yet our defence is still suspect because Toure and Lescott are still trying to gain some understanding,Bridge is poor and Richards concentration at times worries me. In the midfield Ireland is inconsistent but when he is on the top of his game --FINE- but he needs to deliver in the big games and up to now he hasn't,still he is still young and is I suppose still learning,SWP is a valuable member of the team but his crosses leave a lot to be desired and sadly he along with Micah were responsible for United's winner when he failed to pick up Owens run on to Giggs pass.
Up front we have some great strikers but they depend on service, link up play and good defending in as much they dont end up chasing games.I was very disappointed last night to say the least....

On a positive note, at least they would then be "IN" Manchester.
Nearly 30,000 missing at OT last night, and that's with a compulsory purchase scheme...if you miss the deadline to "opt out"
Ha Ha ha....it just gets better and better and better and........
