Chelsea confirm Terry stance

TARGET: John Terry

CHELSEA insist they have been in contact with City target John Terry and are confident he will not be tempted by a move to Eastlands.

The Blues are intent on pursuing the £40million rated centre-back, but both new Stamford Bridge manager Carlo Ancelotti and chairman Bruce Buck have said he is going nowhere.

Terry himself has not publicly commented but, reacting to suggestions they had not been in touch with the 28-year-old, Chelsea told the BBC: "It is total nonsense - we've spoken to him a number of times. He knows he's not for sale."

funny wording don't you think ? not terry doesn't want to leave but terry knows he's not for sale!!!!! could be fireworks me thinks as terry doesn't come across as someone who will be dictated to.

Looks to me like chelski are panicing a little bit. How many statements have they released now? And still not a single one from the horses mouth. Also the last sentence makes me chuckle. They probably have spoken to him a number of times over the fourteen years he's been at the club! What about this last week? It would be a great signing if it comes off. I'll still hold out that hope until terry says he aint coming.

Shouldn't it read, John has told us he doesn't want to be sold and he doesn't want to leave Chelsea.

Again Chelsea seem to be doing all the talking and telling (us) John Terry 'is not for sale'.

When I hear a statement from John Terry eitherway, then we can move on.

I have a feeling this matter will be concluded today and he'll be staying at chelsea - looks like we've helped him get a nice little pay rise too - lucky fella. Now, lets move on and get some decent central defenders in, we could get 2 for the wages and price we were gonna pay for Terry....

He wants to come, he saw Bridge sign in January for probably not much less than he earns and thought "Imagine how much I could earn up there", i don't think he will come because the rent boys won't sell him but he wants to come, Chelsea are OLD news average squad age of 30+ with an unproven prem manager. We are an upcoming team with a talented youthful squad.

IMHO I don't think this transfer will ever happen, but for Chelsea to say he knows he is not for sale means nothing in todays football. If a player wants a move but the club don't want him to, then 99.9% of the time its the player that wins...just look at ladyboy,they may have kept him there for an extra season, but in the end they were helpless to stop him going.

Dear Manchester Evening News,
I dont think mr terry is ever going to sign for us so how abouts you find out some proper information on why Carlos Tevez the free agent has not signed for us yet.
Try doing some journalism for a change instead of leaping upon the same story time and time again.

he has said nothing!
I am not saying that we will be buying him this Summer, but there isn't any smoke without fire, and I think he is at least considering his options.
He probably will stay at Chelsea, but we have come a few steps forward if we even have a chance of making him consider us!

Yep, you did. A lot of people forget we've got two of the very best young central defenders around: onuoha and kompany. The barry signing's ended the need for kompany to play in midfield surely, hence why I keep banging on about us only needing one new defender. If it's lescott im happy. If it's terry im happy but utterly bemused!

The fact that City have posted an article (admittedly from The Independent) about this on their website speaks volumes. The club have been quick to post articles on the website if there are any un-truths and yet they freely run articles about Terry.

Why wouldnt Terry come? Double his money and have a new exciting project leading him up to the World Cup.

Personally I can't see it but Terry's silence has been deafening. That said he will probably do a press conference today declaring his undying love for Chelsea!

Tevez the 'free agent'??? Since when? Could've sworn his registration is owned by Kia, so he ain't no free agent. I think the problem is all of the 3rd party ownership etc etc & the FA will be going through everything with a fine tooth comb. Not sure if you remember Mascherano going to the Dippers, but if memory serves me right, they signed him & were playing him even tho' the final transfer didn't go through for another 4 weeks or so. Think it was the FA making sure all the paperwork was in order.

Might be wrong, but this is probably what is holding the Tevez transfer up.

Terry sits down today and says to Chelsea,,,,,,you currently pay me £120k per week and City will pay £180k so what you gonna do....

I have long been thinking that this Tevez saga is some sort of wind up. I can't believe Skybet are 1/25 he signs for City. It has all gone very quiet. Anyone fancy backing him at 1/20 with me?

Terry himself may wonder what on earth is going on at Stamford Bridge. After the Cup Final he called on the club to sign Villa and Ribery so that they could launch a realistic challenge for the title and the champions league. Since then Chelsea have signed Zhirkov, not a bad signing but hardly Villa or Ribery, a free-transfer, substitute goalkeeper from 'Boro and a 19 year old reserve from...The talk at Chelsea is of a "marquee name" (to sooth JT's doubts and fears?) but also of selling before buying. Not the preparation for the new season JT had in mind. I don't think this is proof that he wants out, but it may raise doubts in his mind - and it really doesn't seem to be the stuff of which unreserved statements of undying loyalty are made. When you contrast it with what MAY be happening at COMS...

hI mate, 'FREE AGENT' (as in a footballer who does not play for any football club) makes him a free agent in my eyes, he is not contracted to any football club!
