Buck: Terry stops at Chelsea

CHAIRMAN Bruce Buck has reiterated Chelsea's stance that City target John Terry is going nowhere.

Boss Carlo Ancelotti on Monday said the Stamford Bridge skipper is not for sale and that stance has been backed by Buck.

There have been reports suggesting the defender wants 'showdown' talks with owner Roman Abramovich.

Terry is on £135,000 a week and wants Chelsea to offer him an improved contract with City willing to offer him around £200,000 a week.

"As a Chelsea fan I'd be devastated if John left but that's not going to happen," said Buck. "John Terry is synonymous with Chelsea and Chelsea is synonymous with him.

"He has been here since he was a wee tot, he is captain of the club and captain of England. He is the backbone of our team and is not leaving."

More than likely he will be staying at Chelsea, but its certainly put the wind up them! Maybe in future they won't try and s**t on everyone else from a great height like they've done for the past six years! What goes around and all that!

i love the way all the talk is of; 300k, 250k a week is obscene,
isnt 100k, 80k,60k,even 10k a week obscene, a footballer may only have a working window of 15 years instead of 45 years like the rest of us, so why do they need such wages, however as a city fan of 35 years im just happy to be able to compete financially superior to the red noses.

we wont get him,, why would he risk his place and captaincy of england by leavving chelsea......i think its a story that has just been whiped up by the press and chelsea have taken the bait. we should go for more realistic targets like lescot and lucio...CTiD

JT returns back for training with chelsea tomorrow, let's see if he has something to say about it all, and the sooner we get it sorted one way or the other the better, and that goes for the Eto'o and Tevez thing.
Would be nice if Cook etc could keep the fans upto date with what's going on, it's not as if it's got to be cloak and dagger stuff,

JT is synonymous with Chelsea i agree, in much the same way that Ronaldo was synonymous with Manure and Kaka was synonymous with AC Milan,or even Thierry Henry was synonymous with Arsenal or even and how ironic is this that SWP was synonymous with MAN CITY. the JT signing will also never happen !! Surely we should just offer £8m and get Carvalho???? Also isn't Schneijder available from Real for £15m and Robben for about the same price. Kompany and De Jong can be our men of steel!!

Even if we don't get Terry these are the kind of unsettling bids we should be putting in on our only financial competitor. It can only work in our favour as Chelsea will now probably have to pay Terry more just to keep him at the bridge. I wouldn't place any large bids for MU,Liverpool or Arsenal players as it's in our interest to keep these 3 in their current huge debt situation. tick tock tick tock.......
