The Argentina international turned down a permanent deal at United last month following a two-year loan deal and has since been linked with a lucrative move to City.
Chelsea are also reportedly tracking the 25-year-old's availability, but Eastlands is Tevez's likely destination this summer.
Tevez said: "If I play for Manchester City I don't think the United fans will feel I am a traitor.
"They have to remember that at least as far as I know I have been thrown out of the club and I have to study the best offers available."
Tevez's decision to turn down the offer of a five-year deal at United has been defended by his adviser Kia Joorabchian, and the player himself insists manager Sir Alex Ferguson left him with little choice but to move on.
"It has come about because I could not stand my sporting situation at Manchester United any longer," he continued.
"My first year was good in all senses. I played in the games and felt respected by the coach but in my second year some strange things happened that I still do not understand.
"After the game at Old Trafford where Liverpool beat us 4-1, in March, Ferguson ignored me almost as if I was to blame for the defeat when really Liverpool dominated us all over the pitch.
"After that the fans called for me to be in the team but he never took the advice on board because he always knows best.
"I gave everything for Manchester United and people know that. For that reason I don't deserve the way things have ended up."

Wishful thinking buddy. all players played international games are entitled to an extended break which is to be approved by a combination of club and FIFA, and JT got his confirmed on Friday afternoon. this is why he missed the game and why he will miss the first team gathering today.
Would love to see JT at City, even more so than all the others we are linked with. But lets take a step back and be honest here, he has been Mr Chelsea for over 10 years and am sure that what we hear about him been interested in listening to what City have to say, on the other hand am sure he is fully aware of the media slaughter he will get if he comes to City. I think he is the type of a character that will consider this as a huge factor.
Eto'o on the other hand "i think" is highly likely. i have a lot of respect and admiration for him. Spanish media portrait him as money grabber, but the facts are he had an agreement with Barca that if he is to be sold he should receive a bonus. Barca were totally out of order for trying to cut him out of this and by making a public comments to avoid backlash from the fans.
Now to the main issue, our firepower (Robi, Petrov, SWP, Boj, Bellamy, RSC, Tevez) and our MF (Ireland, Barry, Elano, Kompany, DeJong) are the most exciting in the EPL. our defence however is what really causes concerns. Tore, Boswinga and Carvahllo are in my opinion the most underrated centre backs in the league. if we get two of these players, it will be hard not finish in the top 6.

On another note, i feel Robinho may not be in Hughes starting plans. He has already got RSC, who he WILL play when fit (considering how he frequently says 'he has got something we do/did not have up front'). He has admitted he is after Tevez and Eto'o, and i can't see him putting them on the bench. Also if i had to pick 1 player out of Robinho, Tevez and Eto'o, to play for CITY, i would stick with Robinho. I am hoping though, (i cannot see this), that Hughes wants to play Tevez and Eto'o up front together with Robinho on the left. ANYONE AGREE?!

"Owen doesn't have a medical these days; he has an autopsy. His pre-match warm-up routine involves some gentle stretches followed by a spell in an MRI scanning machine. Clubs automatically allocate him the shirt number 999. And if United really were hell bent on using an injured striker surely it would have been easier to just hold on to Louis Saha or Ruud van Nistelrooy? "
Priceless, how is that for a proper rant
Having said that I wish him well,he must have paid his Karma bill playing for the barcodes with genial Joe Barton

Sorry pal but your living in cloud cuckoo land as much, as I would like you to be correct. I would say there is probably a 50% chance of signing Tevez sometime over the next two weeks at best. As for Eto'o - I think this is unlikely and so do the bookmakers and as for Terry we've more chance of Caceido being the PL topscorer next season. To say they will be all unveiled together this Thursday is either too much beer or too much sun or both!
