Gossip: City in Maicon link

CITY have been linked with a swoop for Inter Milan and Brazil defender Maicon.

The 27-year-old right-back, who had a superb season with the Italian champions, has attracted interest from Real Madrid and Chelsea.

Reports suggest City could be willing to use midfielder Elano as a bargaining tool.

Maicon's agent Antonio Caliendo told Gazzetta dello Sport.: "Maicon is the best right-back in the world. I would rule out that Manchester United are looking for him but I know that City made an approach."

wow if there is any truth to this then WHAT A PLAYER!!! would be a major coup hes definetly the best right back in the world at the min and has been for the past two years, will be interesting to see if theres any truth to this

I don't believe this for a second, it's just his agent using our club as a means of getting a new contract out of Inter.

This could explain the rumour using Richards in a deal with Everton/ Lescott. So far, this to me is another agent (might not even be the players agent) using us to raise the fee for himself (1st) and the player (2nd). But, just naming another player every other day might in the end see there is one right guess to brag 'as previous revealed ...'.

We must be one of the most talked about clubs on the planet at the moment. Nice to read that Maicon's agent refers to Manchester United but we are quite simply City.

This is why it doesn't matter who we get linked to. The more the better. Our global name is growing daily. I don't care that 12 months ago they may have said Manchester who? because they ain't saying it anymore.

If only! His agent is correct in that Maicon is comfortably the finest right full/wing back around. Maicon has the lot, and would be an amazing signing. The obvious up shot should he come to City, is where and how do SWP and Zab fit into things. SWP would play in a 442/4141, but if Tevez arrives i can see a whole lot of 433, which will see SWP ride the bench often. If Maicon did come, sadly i can`t really see Zab get much of a game, which seemed unfathomable given his tireless contribution to date. One thing a fully equipped squad will prove is whether or not Hughes really does have the taters to go all the way. Fantastic times to be a citizen.

Its official we are now the most hated club in the prem by all the other teams,this is fantastic we have at last lost our "poor old citeh"tag as for maicon fantastic player but not a position thats high priority,i agree with others this is nothing more than his agent using as a bargaining tool,otherwise Robbie would of made a statement

Hope so because Richards can't stop crosses coming in and gets caught out of position all the time, rubbish distribution etc Zabs on the other hand is pretty solid but his best position is in front of back four when we're 1-0 up away to the likes of Liverpool.

was his name santos he looked pretty good but maicon is undeniably the bes RB in the world but i'd say dani alves is equal to him. also people stop throwing cheilini name into the hat as he is very poor against brazil as he has no pace at all and gets cught out often. put a 20m bid in for fabiano also he looked class and maybe lucio

Hope this is true. With the amount of central payers we now have it's inportant to keep some width and this guy would certainly give us that.

Also puts a great ball in which is just what RSC wants.

I have a feeling we could be being used by his agent to speed up other bids though.

This would be as big a signing as Eto'o, this player is world class!! but just remember, at the moment we have Barry and RSC , good premiership players, but not tevez, eto'o or maicon class, and untill we have the likes of these players signed up we can for get about a top 6 place never mind top 4.

we could end up with none of these players, but on the other hand there is no reason why we can't have them all---- we can afford them, but for the moment it appears all paper and agent's talk, and sadly the real heart of the club---The Fans, will be left biting theire nails and living on pure speculation!

When I have seen Maicon play, he reminds me of a younger Cafu. and Cafu in his day was quality.

Would like this one to be true, but as we all know...until more concrete evidence suggests anything with our transfer gossip, it is just another agent touting for business

From what I've seen of Maicon I was very imressed, much better rounded than Alves in my opinion.
Probably the only right-back I actually would be pretty excited about. All the talk about Johnson left me cold.

I think we're well stocked with Micah and Zaba, both very good and likely to be better next season. Maicon is just one of those players who you would always be glad to have at your team.
