Manchester City

Copenhagen 2 City 2: Player ratings

6 GIVEN: early scare when he dropped cross but commands his defenders so well

7 RICHARDS: fine return for the England man who ran his heart out in support of SWP

6 DUNNE: decent enough return for the skipper who looked at home in the Arctic weather

6 ONUOHA: scored his annual goal and defended well apart from when home side scored

6 BRIDGE: no alarms down his flank though he wasn’t able to rampage as he would’ve liked

7 KOMPANY: restored to the midfield where he won more than his fair share of the ball

8 ZABALETA: after below par show at Pompey was back at energetic best in engine room

8 WRIGHT-PHILLIPS: showed again how much his pace and tenacity are missed when he’s out 8 IRELAND: reached double figures for the season with a fine finish that capped super show

8 IRELAND: reached double figures for the season with a fine finish that capped super show

8 ROBINHO: no doubting his commitment here as he popped up at left back on occasions

7 BELLAMY: caught offside a couple of times when he looked like scoring but decent contribution

SUBSTITUTES: Caicedo (for Robinho 90) - too late to mark

NOT USED: Hart, Garrido, Elano, Weiss, Evans, and Vassell

COPENHAGEN: Christiansen, Pospech, Norregaard (Gronkjaer 70), Laursen, Almeida, Kvist (Vingaard 59), Santin (N’Doye 59) Hutchinson, Antonsson, Kristensen, and Wendt. Not used: Jensen, Nordstrand, Jorgensen, and Coe.

REFEREE: Pavel Kralovec (Czech Republic) – possibly a little harsh with his card for Bellamy but otherwise sound enough - 7

I think man city played very badly !

7 for Richards is a joke. He was poor all night and was at fault for their 2nd goal. He was worth 4 at best.

Ireland was by far our best player, how can you give anyone, especially Robinho, the same mark?

Report This Reply

An 8 for disinterested and ineffective Robinho and a 7 for Richards, who was at fault on the second equalizer? Surely you jest.

Who gave these marks out --STEVIE WONDER? Robinho 8? incredible -he was awful,he was lazy and contrived to fluff a one on one with a keeper not good enough to play for a Sunday morning pub team.Kompany was our best player with SWP a close 2nd,Bellamy missed a great chance hitting the side netting when he should have hit the ball across the keeper SWP did a similar thing.Bridge? more like 5 he looked extremely vunerable but Dunne and Richards were awful two free headers from set pieces suggests to all of us finishing in the top half is a pipe dream never mind a European place.Hughes could now be 90 mins away from the sack but to be honest this display just isn't good enough....

only saw the last 20 minutes but have to say our defending was frightening in the bit i saw.

What do they do in training all week?

Report This Reply

How could you give Richards a 7 when he was lost like a child on the last goal that denied us a victory? Do you even watch the matches?

Report This Reply

Didn`t think the snow was that bad Chris, you were obviously watching a different game to me. No one in the back four deserved better than a five and as for your rating of the brasilian wonder????

Report This Reply

Defenders in the summer please!!

Report This Reply

Those player ratings Mr Bailey. Did we both watch the same game ?????????

Report This Reply

Was i watching a differentt game how on earth did robinho get an 8 more like a 3 Richards gets a 7 more like a 2

Report This Reply

Well done chris, so Shay commands his defenders so well, like at home to Boro when they had four one on ones, or at Pompey where they scored with a free header, or again tonight? He is so poor on crosses, terrible buy, bring back big Joe!

these are the proper marks in my opinion
given 6 richards 6 bridge 6 dunne 7 onouha 6 zab 7 ireland 7 swp 6 robinho 6 kompany 7 bellamy 6.
not much to choose between any of them, all did some good things but everyone also made mistakes

Really am starting to think you get a cut of Richards wages , either that or are you are trying to get all the fans off his back by trying to convince us hes played well when hes had yet another shocker, I think you lose a little bit more credibility with every rating to be honest Chris.

In over 40 years of watching city, I have never come across a winging old fart like you. Get back under whatever stone you crawled from under. Or better still get back over to the rags. Very sad person is what you are.

I think your ratings are "offensive and inappropriate".

Lay off Bridge considering he was always up aginst there right mid and and right back he did fine. Robinho imo had an ok game, considering he has played a lot worse than that away. Should of scored though, looked like he was looking over his shoulder more than actually the place in the net, he wanted to put it. We definately need are attacking players to score as many as possible as defence looks very poor in certain areas. He would'nt come back im sure but i would love Pearce to come back as defensive coach, when under keegan we played really good football, but conceded to many, we brought Pearce in and he really sorted are defence out! He also a top bloke!

CTID.

Another Calamity....... bring on the 3-0 home hammering (FC Midtjylland beat us and Forest hammered us at COMS and we were dire against PSG in the 0-0 at COMS..... so this is going to be difficult to turn around)

Chris, you normally talk sense but I think you've mixed up Robinho & Bridge's rating and you've mixed up Richrads and Dunnie!

People are a little quick to jump on the negatives. Yes it was far from a classy showing, especially against such a mediocre side, but at least Ireland was able to find his scoring boots again, and surely the Onuoha super goal is worthy of goal of the week (okay maybe not). At least we didn't lose, and with our recent away form that has to be something good, and with our home form being much better recently we should hopefully progress. So how about getting behind the team rather than slagging off Hughes, Robinho, Micah etc

It just wouldn't be our City if they didn't turn what should have been a formality in the usual scare-fest. I'm just glad I don't bite my nails when i get nervous because some of that defending would have had me gnawing my fingers down to the bone.

AWFUL!!!

So here are the facts:
1. Last season RD & MR were among the best CD partnerships in the league.
2. The rest of the back four are at least as good as the players there last season if not better.
3. Good players don't become bad players overnight.
4. Defending set plays need systems, tactics, positional planning, not just skill.
and thus... 5. Something must be lacking from the planning/coaching department that was there last year.

In my opinion this has led to a lack of confidence that has spread to the rest of the team.

We are tagged as being able to thrash teams on our day and then be very disappointing on another. I hate being like that but it's even worse when I can't even remember the last thrashing we dished out!

The players are good, it's the managements job to get them in the right place so that they can perform well. They seem like 11 individuals out there.

Richards a SEVEN??????

He was certainly at fault for the second goal, and at least must share the blame for the first.
Got beaten way too many times by his man and conceded a needless yellow card.
The sooner we get Zabba back playing right back the better.

Ireland far and away our best player and one has to sympathise with him holding his head in his hands after the final whistle as he gave his all

Sorry, but I can't take these player ratings seriously - Richards given a 7. Chris can I have some of whatever you're taking please?
