NATIONALITY: Holland
PREVIOUS CLUBS: Ajax, Hamburg
POSITION: Defensive midfield
ABOUT: Nigel de Jong started his career at Ajax and made his professional debut in October 2002.
De Jong played 96 times for Ajax scoring eight goals, one of them against at Arsenal in the Champions League.
He won the Dutch league in his second season (2003/04).
In January 2006, De Jong moved to Bundesliga side Hamburg where he has played 66 games, scoring two goals.
He is renown at Hamburg for his winner against Bayern Munich, which was their first defeat in the Allianz Arena.
He made his international debut on March 31, 2004 in a friendly against France and has 30 caps for his country.
He was overlooked for the Euro 2004 squad and was ruled out of World Cup 2006 with a knee injury.
The versatile midfielder seems as comfortable at right back as he is protecting the back four from the centre of the park.
Adored in his hometown Geuzenveld in Amsterdam, De Jong even has a square in the neighbourhood named after him. Tweet

This guy is the business. Bridge, Bellamy and now DeJong-what a fantastic January. Not getting Kaka isn't the blow the media would have us beleive. Of course I would have loved him at City but the squad we have is looking very tasty.
Maybe get Given too?
May I welcome you to what will,in time, undoubtedly be the most envied and powerfull club in Europe.
Great signing
CTID
GIVEN, DIEGO, ARSHAVIN PLEASE
Brilliant, this is what is needed - I was always concerned that Kaka coming would mean that Ireland wouldn't play. I think it is essential that city build around their talented young ex-academy players to get the type of club ethos that (grit your teeth fellas) Fergie built at United. What the academy hasn't provided is a big strapping central midfielder who can dominate the oppostion. The thought of de Jong and Kompany in the middle with four from SWP/Ireland/Robinho/Petrov (soon please) Sturridge/Bellamy actually makes that bit of us a better team than villa and or arsenal (without Fabregas)
Nationality Holland?
getting better by the minute!!, now go for Given, Alex, Arshavin, Villa etc.
Why do we still have Ball, Vass and Benj on our books PLEASE GET RID NOW,,,,, they all depress me,
Sorry Headless chicken as well.
Let's hope he brings all these qualities to God's own team.

Didn't know he can play rightback. Signing quality players who can play in at least one position will certainly help us out in times of injuries and suspensions. He seems to be the sort of player we need in midfield. If Vass goes to sheff u then i'll be happy. Bet blades fans will be cursing us with him and sun ji hi in the side!! lol.
Nigel De Jong "The Bradford Beast" Welcome to MCFC.
Don't take any prisoners.
If this guy can settle in quickly and play to a similar level as VK then we'll have another good 'un. Now can we please have a left footed centre half - as long as it's not that donkey Van Buyten that certain people seem to be in love with. Thank you.
great signing.
young athletic and powerful midfielder, just what we needed. all we need now to complete the jigsaw is a big centre forward (hmm, wonder who that might be) and a world class centre half. we cannot rely on Dunne anymore, his confidence and form is shot to pieces.
Give Newcastle what they want for Given. He is worth more than all the players we have bought so far! Not that they are bad players...far from it.
Good signing De Jong.
Get Given and a centre half!
Bluemoon Risin'
The Blades fans love Jihai Sun, really popular .... and they love the version of Queens, "we will Rock you".
I'll have to send them the Vasselino walking in a winterland song (Watching all his shots hit the Stand!). LOL
he looks to be a very versatile player and im sure he'll make a very welcome addition to the squad.as for given,we are going to have to pay around 14 mill for him,hes worth it though.buffon and castiallas can go jump, shay is the real deal and id worth his asking price.
