HART: Hardly a shot to save in anger and one of his quieter afternoons but calm and assured
7
RICHARDS: Switched to his favourite position and easily amongst his better games of the season
7
DUNNE: Sent off for clash with Zaki in row that had been simmering since first clash
6
ONUOHA: Strong, intelligent and most of the time unflappable too. Did all he was asked
7
BRIDGE: As debuts go this was pretty impressive. Tackling and vision was outstanding 7
WRIGHT-PHILLIPS: Only passed fit on morning of the game but buzzed around with purpose
7
KOMPANY: Sat deep and read the game with aplomb though his distribution not at its best 7
ZABALETA: Scored a superb goal and made most of Hughes decision to switch into midfield
8
ROBINHO: Missed a couple of chance that he would normally have scored but still a menace
7
ELANO: He was magnificent at times playing further forward and consistently fed Robinho
8
STURRIDGE: Always hard to knock off ball and did ever so well in build up to the goal
7
SUBSTITUTES
GARRIDO (for Sturridge 62) – sent on to help offset loss of Dunne. Did well - 7
NOT USED: Schmeichel, Vassell, Weiss, Jo, Caicedo and Fernandes

I don't think anyone should be rated lower than what you have given, as I thought everyone had great games. However I'd rate Kompany a 9 and Zabaleta an 8, possibly Nedum too...All of them were absolutely fantastic. Kompany was purely inspirational - the man is a born leader and some of the defensive headers he made as a centre half were just Terry-esque. Him and Nedum are a terrific partnership. Hats off to Hughes in pulling a blinder for playing Zabaleta in midfield. I'd heard he had played there before but I didn't think Hughes would ever have the balls to try it. Worked a treat - the man's a little machine.
Elano should be saluted too. Some majestic passing in the first half, and then had to defend like a trojan in the second.
I would have given Zab an 8 but the other scores are spot on. Glad Elano was picked out for a good performance.
Chris, Elano had a great game, however everyone at the ground knows Zab was MOM. His mark should be a 9.
Zabaleta 7, behave he was the best player in a blue shirt won everything and chased everything. Kompany also had a great game, Elano was good in the first half.
Ref -1 if the letter of the law says Dunne should of been sent off fair play. I am right in thinking if a player shows the ref an pretend card thats a booking Zaki did that to Kompany so maybe he'd have thought twice before elbowing Dunne?
How can you score Dunne who almost cost us the game with his stupidity a 6 and Zabaleta only a 7?
For me Zabaleta, Nedum, Kompany and Elano were all 8.
Bridge, Richards, SWP and Robinho were 7
Sturridge was a 6 with Hart (Due to poor distribution yet again!)
Dunne was a 3!
How can you only give Zab a 7? He was outstanding. Agree re: Elano, another good game from him!
Not sure how you can give Zabaleta anything less than a 9, his tackling and workrate were second to non, he did everything right all game, the goal was the icing on the cake for his best performance this season. Dunne once again proved himself a liability. Robinho was greedy and almost cost a goal when he lost ball trying to do a clever pass to Elano.
I just got back from the game, great performance but only one man of the match and it was zabaleta 100%
Fantastic performances all round from the players, especially Onuoha, Kompany, Elano and Zabaleta.
Hart - 8
Richards - 7.5
Dunne - 6
Onuoha - 8.8
Bridge - 7.5
SWP - 7.5
Kompany - 8.5
Zabaleta - 8.5
Elano - 8.5
Robinho - 8
Sturridge - 7
Garrido - 5
C'mon chris how did zaba not win man of the match he was quality today he was evrywhere dunney should be stripped of the captains armband and it should go to either kompany or zabaleta bring in palacios and de jong and move kompany back to centre back to replace dunne CTID
Thats got to be the end for Captain Donkey....single handedly almost cost us the game.Should be playing in The Championship, and definatly not in a team that contains the worlds best player!!
Where's the ref's rating? Or was his performance so poor it didn't even merit a score?
Absolutely disgraceful performance from a self confessed hater of City.
Elano best player? Naah.
Zabaleta and Kompany were excellent.
But Nedum Onouha was OUTSTANDING to say he rarely plays 90 minutes and was easily my Man of the Match. He won EVERYTHING in the air. Superb.
The ref had a shocker and was Wigan's best player.
Zabaleta only a 7 was Mr Bailey actually at the game today? So far Zabaleta has been the player of the season and when he masters the language should be made captain. This performance merited a 9,he led by example and refused to be beaten
ZABALETA 7!!
Who give these marks?!!
The man was beyond awesome today
Defensively - superb
In the middle - excellent
Going forward - brilliant
oh yes and he scored
9 at least - sort yourself out Mr Markerman read the fans views on your own poll
Which game were you watching MEN????????
Elano man of the match????? Zabaleta was by far the best player on the pitch. Not just his goal. But he was everywhere amd he was out of position. Sell Elano tomorrow for me. He huffs and puffs but bottles out to much. Zabs and Kompany are the first names on the team sheet every week for me, and both are Hug hes signings so the sack Hughes brigade should look at that!!!!
Only 7 for Zab and VK and you give donkey Dunne 6, you are a muppet they were both 9 and VK for captain..
I have always been a Dunne fan but today he disappointed me with his immaturity, 2 own goals and 2 sendings off now, whats going on in his head, Buy Van Buyten and send him packing.
Best team performance to date and it didn't look like a dressing room bust up to me..................................JUST WHAT THE KAKA ORDERED
WELL DONE
CTID
Just want to say, who signed Zab again?
Good performance all round, that's wahta I want to see week in, week out. Even if we'd lost to a flukey goal I would have felt OK cos the team played football!
eternal optimist, san pedro,, spain
Totally agree VK should be captain. He leads by example and can speak a hand full of languages absolutely awesome. Once we sign Jong then let him replace Dunne at the heart of the defense and the team. Plus he will be able to talk to KAKA!!!!! Bring it on city!!! CTID!!!!!
ur ratings are a joke, hart and dunne 7, kompany onouha 9, zab 10 everyone else 8
Van Buyten is 32 why the hell would we be interested in him
Zaba was absolutely incredible today, MoM by a country mile, i give him a Nigel Tufnel mark of 11 outta 10!
Chris Bailey are u blind 7 for zabaleta u must have been watching a different game from me???
on another note how many times did joe hart give wigan the ball back today by hoofing it up the field it is so frustrating i counted at least 10 times...anyone else notice???
Well done the boys in blue, fully deserved. I see Zabaleta won MOM, a good choice as he worked his socks off for the team, and scored our goal. I however would have chosen Robinho, because such is his genius that he adapted extremely well to the Rugby League tactics of our less illustrious pie-eating neighbours. Still, only to be expected from a team high in work ethic but lacking in talent, and who have a manger that has taken fergie's win at all costs mentality to heart.
Of course the referee cannot escape comment. Dunne deserved to go for his retaliation; if he had not kicked Zaki, perhaps Zaki should have been the one departing for the elbow he applied to Dunne. However there is no excuse for the team captain to be so foolish and both a replacement captain and reinforcements at centre half are necessary. Unfortunately for city, the referee produced an appallingly inept display, ignoring foul after foul on both SWP and Robinho, with the worst being when Rob was clothes-lined off the ball when less than 10 feet from the referee. We were not even awarded a free kick for that little incident!
Finally, must say that the majority of press coverage of this match has thus far been disgustingly anti-city; we are seldom given credit if we play well, but the vitriole directed at us has reached new extremes. One bit of transfer business seemingly has turned us into the number one target for the majority of hacks, it can only be a matter of time before the "sheeple" reading this tripe join in with the opinion makers and deem us the destroyers of football.
Mr Bailey knocked me out of my stride there, actually seeing Elano for the class he is, excellent game for Blumer, like I've said before those who knock him don't go to the game and are neanderthal in their football knowledge, Big Improvement in defence, especially with the brutish thuggery and route one aerial bombardment shown by Wigan, Kompany was imperious showing we no longer need to carry Dunne. I sympathise with the oil tanker but rule one in football 'Do not retaliate' especially in front of the rag fan referee. For me though Zab was the reason we won that match, tireless non stop hounding and tackling, plus the bonus of a goal, ZABADABADOO. A-B-P.
