City bid stuns the globe

HEADLINES: In the Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport
CITY'S audacious bid for Brazil and Milan maestro Kaka grabbed sporting headlines across the world.

The Blues made their big move on Monday evening and there was an incredulous response in Italy to the £100m swoop.

Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport branded the bid madness with their headline `Follie per Kaka'.

And just like the hundreds of City fans that flooded manchestereveningnews.co.uk, the Rossoneri faithful were out in force on the Gazzetta message boards.

There were mixed opinions from the Italian fans with some reckoning the money was too good to turn down, while others derided the thought of Kaka moving to City's `squadretta' or little squad.

The Corriere dello Sport, let the numbers do the talking and ran with the headline: `Kaka: 120 milioni!' Back in Kaka's homeland, Brazilian newspaper O Globo's website headline read `More than money' in a reference to Kaka's desire to play for an ambitious and successful club rather than to just go for the money.

News of the sensational swoop also made waves in Spain, where sports newspaper Marca proclaimed: `City make the highest offer in the history of football'.

But as the day wore on, expectations cooled when Kaka spoke to AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi's Mediaset website.

The 26-year-old insisted he wants to grow old with Milan and one day be the captain.

Whether he realises that dream remains to be seen but one thing is for sure - the football world is watching.

Nice to see various `expert pundits` and such like deriding the whole thing but maybe if they stopped and thought for a moment they`d realize the selling clubs are as much to blame, if they didn`t put stupid prices on players heads we wouldn`t be expecting to pay it.

As for the `little squad` comment, can`t ever remember AC Milan beating us (not in my lifetime anyway) as far as I remember we`ve won two and drew one( dodgy refereeing at it`s best lol)so what does that say ? ;-)

Somehow I'm pleased if City turns their back to this deal.
All the other clubs needs to show respect and don't treat us as they are doing us a favor. We are doing them a favor even if we are considering them.
Let’s get perspective right from now on. Come on everyone, we are all part of this Hughes project.

The bid also stunned Utd's pub fans, there were more on City's MEN thread than their own.
