Corluka moves to Spurs

ON HIS WAY: Vedran Corluka

TOTTENHAM have signed Vedran Corluka from City for an undisclosed fee.

The Blues strengthened their back line over the weekend with the signings of South American duo Pablo Zabaleta and Glauber, paving the way for Corluka's exit.

Corluka told Tottenham's official website: "I am delighted to be here because I am coming to a big club with great players, great ambition and also my best friend [Luka Modric] is here so it is a very happy day for me."

Corluka enjoyed a successful spell at City after joining from Dinamo Zagreb last summer.

Absolutely gutted that he's gone,and i don't care what anyone says he was one of our best players.

Reading his quotes on the spuds website he says he's happy to be teaming up with his best friend Modric,maybe thats why he's gone there?.

I liked Corluka, and I personally would have liked him to stay at City to give us strength in depth, but if the player wanted to go or MH decided he didn't fit into his long term plans then I suppose we have to accept the transfer and thank him for slotting home the winning penalty in the Uefa Cup and wish him luck at Spurs (just have an off day every time you play against us though) from what people said about him waving to the fans and throwing his shirt into the fans it would appear he knew this was his last appearance for City before he went onto the pitch. Looks like we have a brand new right hand side with Zabaleta and SWP. Good luck Vedran!

It was on the cards. Not to HP with the big club comments. A couple of weeks ago when the news first broke i like many others were well rubbed up but as signings have come in it makes this sale a bit more easy to swallow. Would not be surprised though if we sign a well known forward by COP tonight

No suprise, was top class, but probably a yard short of pace to be a Premiership full back, look at the way he was exposed by midgetland last week, could have ended up in the middle, but seem to have plenty of those, so why not get some cash back, especially if we have got more than we paid for him.

Most importantly, it must suit Mark Hughes

Well I think that this is good business if we got back what we paid for him or more. Zabelleta is class and will fill his position easily, we then have plenty of right back cover, Nedum, Ben and Micah can play there. I am more interested in the report that we have been bought out by Abu Dhabi Group for Development and Investment - can not find anything else on the net

Worst kept secret of the past couple weeks? Vedran off to Spurs on deadline day after we'd bought cover! A good player - thought not the worldbeater Bilic bigs him up as being. Ok Zabaleta... time to show us what you can do! Onwards and upwards, then...

The photos of Charlie in a Spurs shirt were clearly taken a couple of weeks ago, before Hughes made his 11th hour intervention. I'm sad he's off, but he clearly made the decision to go at the height of the uncertainty surrounding City's financial situation. Given our progress and success of the last week, he's probably regretting moving to a club of such limited ambition, but once his transfer request was in, he'd burnt his boat.

I hope we get a good price too. I think he has to mention Spurs being a big ambitious club, he cant really say its just because he wants to be with his friend... (which is probably the ONLY reason - 'Luka the snake in the apple tree')

Will miss you Charlie, although I LOATHE spuds.

Based on his comments then I will shed no tears over his going, although I always liked the guy. We should be trying to hold on to players like Charlie to have strength in depth, but he obviously always wanted to go to play with his "friend" CTID

We have to learn to keep our best players if we are going to do anything, this is a bad move & im gutted, we have plenty of cover but Corluka signed a 5 year contract 18 months ago! He is one of the best defenders in the premiership by far & with the rest of our quality we could/would of had one of the best defences, on paper, in the league.

handed in a transfer request, we've bided our time to get a replacement, got good money for him and played him till Zabaleta came in. nowt else we cudve done, if he wants to leave he wants to leave. lets hope he made the wrong decision and we finish abouve spuds this season.

well lets be honest lads, who can blame him?...man city are a shambles at the moment, financially and politically....there is zero money at the club, hence why you had to get an advancement on the tv money to buy swp, etc etc...corluka has joined a club with a quality squad, quality proven trophy winning manager, and a club who are the best run in the prem according to the deloitte financial prem review...the season is 3 games old, and with players like your beloved charlie running to join our already talent filled squad, our season can only get better...so welcome to the lane charlie, a ground we actually own LOL...remember citeeeeeh fans, in a football world full of uniteds, rovers, and "citeeeeh's".....theres only one hotspur.
