City sign Brazilian Glauber

NEW SIGNING: Glauber

CITY have signed Brazilian defender Glauber from FC Nuremburg.

The 25-year-old, who has one cap for Brazil, has been signed for an undisclosed fee from the German club who were relegated last season.

It follows the capture of Argentinian defender Pablo Zabaleta who joined from Espanyol.

Glauber - full name Glauber Leandro Honorato Berti - is Mark Hughes' sixth signing and will join fellow Brazilians Elano and record signing Jo at Eastlands.

Its a joke.....how can we compete against the top 4 clubs when we keep buying rubbish players, we'll get beet by Sunderland today and then its down hill from there.

Probably puts any chance of Taiwo arriving to bed then. This guy is only 25 and has played once for Brazil. On Wikpedia it says he played very well in central defence for Nuremberg. Hughes seems to have a good link with the Bundesliga with the signing of this guy and Kompany.

Apparently this guy is a CB not an LB. Presumably Hughes sees him as an LB otherwise why sign another defender - unless Corluka is off.
He has 1 cap but has Italian citizenship so had no problems getting a work permit.
I am sure he is going to be good. Another over 6 foot defender - hopefully with pace. We are looking like a strong force that won't be bullied and will be a threat on set pieces. Hopefully our defenders (Dunne and Richards) will score some this season too.

I dont care where hes from or if hes a big name id never heard of Kompany till last week and hes quality,however i just checked his last 3 yearly stats and he has never scored a goal.Also is he another center back.I assume we got him on a really good deal as back up for Dunne and Tal.Anyone else got any Ideas?

Typical comment from Donald Farrer. I'd never heard of Kompany & he looks the business. I hadn't heard of Benarbia, Kinkladze, Elano, Petrov and loads of others who have been a success for City. I wouldn't have wanted Santa Cruz last year based on his Bayern history and MH found a perfect premiership striker in him. There's a lot of players that are overpriced out there, Hughes seems to look beyond them and pick up gems. Hopefully all the players he signs have the same fight and determination as Kompany & MH himself.

I presume he is free because he is not in the squad at Nuremburg but is in their leavers list under "Ziel unbekannt" as opposed to any particular club which seems to literally translate as goal unkown, or maybe that would mean released / out of contract.

has anyone else noticed theres more and more rags popping up on the city comments pages than previous years....me thinks that theres a little anxiety across the salford city border.
for years, many of the rags i know have claimed MUFCA's are more bothered about liverpool than city, I think some have them are changing their tune now....they realise that city are moving in the right direction, fergies tenure at the rags is nearly up, you make up your own assumptions

Must admit that I've never heard of him and am surprised at the signing of another CB; I'm guessing that he may be left footed. Just hope it does not signal the sale of someone good; it is a one year deal.

Hopefully he's a leftback. In any case it's clear that Hughes is looking to add as much strength in depth in defence as possible.

As for dear Donald, it seems a mark of your intelligence is you use of phrases like "we're gonna get beat" complete with an inability to spell the word "beat". Or are you suggesting that Keane is going to present us with some pickled root vegetables to go on our salads?

never heard of him but his club just got relegated he's on a one year deal and has 1 year to cut it at a prem club so will be veery hungry to cease this random chance out of the blue. reminds me of rocky wen he got a shot at the title. will be on the bench but win win situation this.
