R. I. P Ken
I was born 3 years after Ken's last game for City so unfortunately I didn't see him play. My condolences go out to Ken's family. Ken Branagan RIP, your name will live on in the history books of Manchester City Football Club.
RIP KEN
Very sorry to hear of the death of Ken Brannigan,Ken was a great fullback and I saw him play for both City and Oldham Athletic. When he was at Oldham he teamed up with another great City favourite Bobby Johnstone.
A bit before my time but thank you for all you did.
Was Ken Branagan here at the same time as McKenna, Munro, Hardwick, Gemmil, and a big centre half called Archie Whyte (is that right?) and a full back Tommy Bell - plus a goalie from Everton (Burnett?). These were my heroes as a boy. With respect.
I personally knew Ken through where I work, and I can honestly say he was a true gent, and such a lovely fella, and I would like to offer my condolences to his lovely family.
He was in the first City team I ever saw. Also when I used to travel from Salford to Maine Road, Ken would walk down Littleton Road and get on same the number 1 bus into Manchester as myself. Good memories. God Bless you and thanks Ken.
I remember Ken during the late fifties and early sixties, he was a great servant to the club and was a decent full back R.I.P. Ken and thank you for some great memories from MAINE ROAD...
As a Red I would like to say how sad I am to hear of Ken's death. He ran a newsagent's shop in Cadishead in the 60s and 70s and managed our junior football team. He was a true gent and a genuinely nice man. I recall he also managed Irlam Town for a while and his son Jim played for Oldham and Blackburn.
Sad to hear about Ken, our thoughts are with his family at this sad time
I have memories of him coming to our school, Light Oakes Primary, Salford to take a training session; we couldn't believe it...we won the League that year and got to the Final of the Eddie Coleman Memorial Trophy and played the final at the Cliff Training Ground..can't remember whose training ground it was!!!
So Ken thanks for my happy memory, perhaps thats the moment I became a City Fan
God Bless
I was staggered to find that your above mention of Ken's death was only shown in Thursday's paper, the 21st August, when Ken died on Sat the 9th August, and his funeral was held on Tuesday this week the 19th August.
I wish to add my condolences to those already submitted.
I was a Man City fan in those far off days and can still remember how reliable Ken was, and he shone in a generally struggling team in the 50's. R.I.P. Ken.
