MARK HUGHES will not quit City and has laid down the law once and for all when it comes to club transfer policy.
The Blues boss has made it abundantly clear that he will be the man making all the key decisions about who stays and who goes during his reign at Eastlands.
Hughes, who confirmed exclusively to M.E.N. Sport on Tuesday night that he was not about to quit his high-profile job, emphasised that he'd had no second thoughts whatsoever about his switch from Blackburn Rovers.
And now the boss wants to be left alone to concentrate on what he was brought into to achieve, namely improve the side and last season's ninth-place league finish.
"Football decisions are my decisions. It is very clear as far as I am concerned that I will decide who leaves and who we sign.
"That is how it has to be and that is how it will be moving forward," he said.
"I do not regret coming here at all. This is a huge club and the problems I had in my other managerial roles are magnified simply because of the size of Manchester City.
"There are always issues surrounding clubs of this size and it is part of my job to make sure that they do not impact on the team.
"We are less than a week away from the first Premier League game and we have a UEFA Cup game, a tough one, coming up and we want to focus people's minds.
"The stuff on the periphery needs to be put to one side so that we can get on with doing what we are about and that is being a top football club."
Hierarchy
Hughes appeared to come into conflict with the club hierarchy over the weekend when it was suggested that Stephen Ireland might be sold without his knowledge.
The manager was quick to quash that rumour and stress that bootroom and boardroom are singing sweetly from the same sheet.
"What people have to understand is that there is a whole new management team and a whole new team at boardroom level and there is inevitably a settling in period when we all learn how one another work," he added.
"There are bound to be teething problems but not through any malevolence. I am very clear that any issues of messages getting through regarding players have all been cleared up. It will not happen again.
"We can not concentrate on what happens on the pitch which is really the important thing.
"We have a big match tomorrow and we want everyone concentrating on what happens on the pitch and that includes the supporters, who are extremely important in all this.
"There have been a lot of things flying around but I am not going anywhere and I don't anticipate going anywhere. There is a job to do here and I am looking forward to it.
"There is speculation around the club and that has been prevalent since I joined the club but from my own point of view I am very focused on what I am about and what I aim to achieve here.
"Nothing has changed in that respect and the football operation hasn't changed since I signed for the club. Neither has my relationship with Garry Cook and his team, we get on really well and we talk on a daily basis.
"I am the guy that makes the decisions in relation to the football and they are the people who making them in terms of running the club. All the rumours unsettles the players. That is why I want to end them now."
What do you think? Have your say.

see it allways ends the same ...james bond jumps thru a window kills all the bad guys and %&*% a gorgeous bird come on city
Best news i've heard all week.
Hopefully i can enjoy my holiday now and come back following a stirling start to the league and maybe 1/2 transfers.
I did put £20 notes on him to be first out, i'll be glad to lose it.
Ha Ha Ha, another official announcement that sinks the rumors being spread by the media !
Add this to Sunderland confirming they have not bid for Stephen Ireland !
Add this to Manchester City confirming they are not selling Vedrun Corluka !
And you get a far clearer picture of the real goings on.
"But, where will we get the money to pay players wages I hear the media ask ?" Perhaps they've agreed to work for free for the next couple of weeks ! Ha Ha Ha ....
I agree there is no smoke without fire, but, media, blog and supporter frenzy is far in excess of the truth.
Does Dr. T have his problems ? Yes. But nothing that will impact City THIS SEASON.
OK, let's wait for the next S*n, M****r, M*N article that casts doubt over City, so some of us can worry again and remind us 'passive' ones that they 'Told us so' last year !
This is definitely more entertaining than any soap .....
This is the first post I have made since all this nonsence started last week and all I will say is, good. I hope to not ever read again from the clowns that had their skirts up over their heads. You know who you are ladies. CTID

Any chance of the Media getting something right?
His staying could just about save the club from imploding, even if he just stays until Christas. Well done Mr Hughes!
You put money on City going through misery?!- typical nonsense. Pathetic, negative attitude to the extreme- FRANK IS BACK LONG LIVE THE DR. Put that on your back pages and choke on it!!!
Result!!
All we need now is for a billionaire who's actually got cash to come and invest!
thank god for that now let the football do the TALKING
This article will I'm sure settle a lot of nerves but it does impress me greatly, full of logic, calmness and an assurance that sends out the right messages, lets hope the squad get the message and respond to his proven ability as a PL manager.
Hughesy hughesy hughesy!
After all of the madness of the last few days, at long last MH has reaffirmed his committment to the club.
His comments will go a long way to placate even the most jittery amongst us.
That said, there is no getting away from the embarrassing spectacle that is Thaksin.
I struggle to come to accept that MCFC was created to continually stumble and never get out of first gear. At the present time when the club has secured the services of one of the finest young managers, all around is negativity both in the press and amongst some fans.
Everywhere there are Thaksin stories with Mings photograph plastered on every newspaper and news programme.
To combat this negative reporting will take some doing but MH has at least stood firm.
I seem to remember that his mentor SAF used all anti Utd sentiments to galvanise his team into a 'them and us' mentality. I hope MH achieves the same result with us.
Thats if the board stop attempting to sell players behind his back and allow him to manage. Big if !.
Mark Hughes is rapidly becoming our finest asset. What tremendous leadership he displays to his players. While Mark is captaining the ship we are set for a very enjoyable cruise. Let's hope the less able on the Man City team do not suceed in sabotaging his efforts and make him walk.
That is very good news to hear that from MH.Nobody could have blamed him if he had said " sod it " after the week of speculations and turmoil the club has experienced.
He has the capability and determination to improve the team performances, provided he is allowed to do his job without interference from others, and fully supported in his decisions and ( hopefully ) also financially in order to bring in players for the positions in which we have weaknesses.
Great news. Lets all get 100% behind bluesy and the team on Thursday.
Top Man!
He's just what this club needs and has needed for a long, long time... A manager who rules the roost, dare I say it like old Red Face himself? And not since the days of Joe Mercer has anyone done that at MCFC... That'll do for me, thanks very much.

Onwards & Upwards!
something positive from the MEN. well actually its just the same statement posted on MCFC web site what suprise.
Maybe the MEN will now conserntrate on the football and stop all this city bashing its getting rather tedious.
I think we are going to suprise a few people this year and i think 6 or 7 place will do just nicely
Steve Chorley - agree entirely just the news we wanted to hear. Ignore the southern press (and the MUEN) and have faith. We are in the same position as last year when Frank bought the club i.e. he had £800m frozen assets, warrants for his arrest, refusing to go back because of no fair trial....sound familiar?? Having said that i would be happier without him!!
Great news so so happy. The worst thing that could of happend is MH quits.
Just 1 small small thing to think about MH..rumours start in the morning and sould be stamped on my afternoon.
Great end to a crap day.
Steve Chorley, I love people like you who drive the odds down and make a betting opportunity for the rest of us. Unlike you mate, I waited until the odds was low enough, so I could lay a bet with Betfair on Hughes going. Now that he has more or less confirmed he's going nowhere I can sit back while the price begins to rise to a nice little earner.
chris bailey.................
what day is it?
This is mint. I have been nearly suicidal the past few days, but this has cheered me up beyond belief.
Mark Hughes, thank you very much.
Well done Leslie!
Hallelujah! the Milk Tray Man is alive and kicking! MH leaving would have sounded the death knell for our club. We need strong leadership to weather this storm and Yosser is the man to do it. Best news we have had all week.
Mak Hughes could become one of the greats given he stays with the club. Unlike Sven he will not be messed about like Sven. The owner and current board are rubbish what have we done to deserve another bad bunch of board members and Gary Cook. Peter Swales must be turning in his grave and god knows what Big Mal makes of this mismanagement and disrepect to Mr Hughes, the team and not least the fans.
