Blues' Carling Cup boost

CITY’S fear of fixture chaos has been eased after they won their battle with the Football League to have their Carling Cup entry put back.

Earlier this week boss a resigned Mark Hughes commented on the unfairness of the Blues being the only one of the nine English sides in European competition being asked to play in the second round of the Carling backed domestic knockout.

If the authorities had stuck to their guns then Hughes and his men would have faced a punishing four matches in eight days including trips to Denmark and Sunderland.

But, after intense lobbying from City, the powers that be have seen sense and the Premier League side will now play their CC 2nd round match in the week beginning Monday, September 22 and if they progress then catch up at a later date.

The draw for the next round of the competition takes place next Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, it has been announced that the second leg of the Uefa Cup tie against FC Midtjylland in Denmark on August 28 will kick-off at 4.25pm.

Well done to MCFC and to the Footbal League - common sense prevails for once.

Also, the game in Denmark is on Channel 5.

This is one of the reasons why I wanted Mark Hughes - finally a manager that stands up to the Football League. Its all well and good being the perfect gent like SP or SVG but where does it get you? Nowhere in the premiership in fact we have just been the whipping boys for years.

Have you ever been over here? Do you want to visit? Find me whenever and keep answering until you know you have my attention. We can figure it out then.

Seriously.

My wife thinks you're ace. I think you're like that Irish guy in Braveheart, the one who thinks Ireland is his island. I reckon two hours with you in downtown Raleigh and I'd be arrested.

I don't want to be pedantic (and I certainly don't want to stick up for the MUEN) but in the previous article re: Corluka they weren't incorrect.

They said: "A City spokesman confirmed on several occasions that talks had been begun between the clubs about a switch to the capital."

Hughesy said: "He has had no contact with Spurs."

So basically the clubs have been talking and not the big guy.

Maybe Fitzroy could help us out - it's been too long mate - where are you?

if its a 4:30 kick off in denmark then it will be 3:30 in the uk.

Considering you all are using the internet to ask about time difference it amazes me than none of you have actually used your computer to find out! Have none of you heard of google?

Just Seen this on sky sports...

Skysports.com understands Tottenham are closing in on a deal for Vedran Corluka.

Despite an excellent debut campaign in English football last season at Manchester City, it looks as though the talented Croatian could be on the move.

Free-spending Spurs are in the market for defensive cover following Pascal Chimbonda's move to Sunderland and see Corluka as an ideal addition.

City boss Mark Hughes insisted earlier on Thursday that Corluka has not been given permission to speak to Spurs, but did concede interest in the player had been lodged from other clubs.

However, skysports.com has learnt a deal could soon be struck as both clubs engage in discussions.

Summer Signings
Strikers
In Jo 18M (only one bigger wee Robbie to Liverpool)

Defenders
In Ben Haim 6M? (only one bigger Bosingwa Chelsea)

And of course there was the Ronaldino 20M bid

So lets not panic too soon about the money we have to spend

Patience my dear boy!
