Blues duo set for Oakwell

Oakwell

VEDRAN Corluka and Elano are expected to be in the City line-up for the UEFA Cup qualifier with EB/Streymur at Oakwell.

New manager Mark Hughes has been running the rule over his charges since his arrival and Corluka and Elano get their chance after a late return to training following international duty this summer.

With Jo on Olympic duty with Brazil and Benjani Mwaruwari on the injured list, either Ched Evans or Daniel Sturridge will partner Darius Vassell in attack.

City fans will head to Barnsley in a 30-strong fleet of coaches subsidised by the club.

Around 1,500 Blues supporters have taken up the club's offer of free transport after the City of Manchester Stadium was deemed not quite ready to host the contest after a summer of other sports and remedial work on the playing surface.

There is still time for ticket holders to take advantage of the coach travel with places available until the ticket office closes this evening.

It is anticipated they will leave around 4.30pm on Thursday.

On the day of the game, tickets will be available for purchase at Oakwell.  So far around 6,000 have been sold.

They cost £15 for adults but £10 for seasoncard holders and £5 for OAPs and children.

Manchester City (from): Hart, Schmeichel, Corluka, Onuoha, Dunne, Richards, Ball, Ireland, Hamann, Elano, Fernandes, Mee, Johnson, Petrov, Castillo, Sturridge, Vassell, Evans, Caicedo.

Bianchi has left I take it?

Why not start with Evans and Sturridge upfront ? Both are young keen and striving to impress.

Wheres bianchi and weiss? Roly must be leaving, obviously don`t want to get him cup tied. Would have thought it was a perfect chance to have a look at Vlad though. I have complete faith in MH but it does worry me that he needs to have another look at Vass though, wake up Mark he is crap and what`s more he`s always gonna be. It would also appear that Garido isn`t in his plans, would have thouhgt he is no worse than Ball. I would start with Kasper, if nothing else it might just get Hart`s feet back on the ground, I reckon he spends too much time reading his own press.

If Bianchi isn't even in the squad, MH must be selling him which presumablu means he is going to buy another striker cos with Corradi as good as hone, Mpenza gone, unjuries and Olympics, suddenly we are starting to look a bit short on the striker front! Tribal Football say Roma are looking at Elano.

Vassell does his job. He's a squad player at best. But I agree with others give the youngsters a run out and where is Weiss?

We need a full strength team and a good attitude. This is an important game and we don't want any banana skins. It would be easy to get complacent.

there is somethng on Roly's official italian website about playing in the uefa cup dated the 29th July, however as I'm not Italian I can't understand what he means, but it seems offical and if anyone knows what it says please let us know, I found the link on vital football man city pages

If elano doesn't play well in this game then he really is just collecting a pay cheque and should be sold on to the highest bidder, and don't get me wrong I even bought a Elano T shirt at xmas, I just wish he would get back to his best

Can any one shed any light on the Bianchi situation?, I have heard a lot of rumours suggesting he is history at City whether we sell him or not?, that to me suggests something has happened that has made his position at the club untenable?, it is very strange if it is true that such a position would be taken by MH considering the mammoth fee paid for him and his salary I suspect there is much more to this story than meets the eye. Or maybe there is a club interested trying to get a “Sammaras bargain” haggling over the transfer fee and City are adamant that they want what they paid simple politics at work.

Vas will proably score 3 or 4 tomorrow (if he has 20 shots) and everyone will think he is alright again.

Disaster !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is something going on, Lee Bradbury, cos just over a week ago he was being given a chance to prove himself and now he isn't even in the squad for tomorrow and imho, if it's a choice between Vass and Bianchi I wouldn't pick Vass! I've said before he works his socks off but the quality simply is not there!

What about Boj? How long till he is back? Why are we not in for Arshavin or bentley? Both off to Spuds now, so why dont we put in a cheaky bid for lennon?

Lee Bradbury, I had the impression Bianchi was not fit. But maybe something else is going on. Playing UEFA-Cup football will deminish his chances to move to another club that plays European football as he will not be allowed to take part when he has played European football with another club in the same year. So IF City wants to sell, they probably wont let him play UEFA-Cup games. Just guessing though ...

'Que sera, sera... UEFA we'll be, we'll be... See City in Barn-ser-ley? Where's me car, me car?!'

Apologies for that... Any road, I would've thought that Bianchi's omission is based on his being quite a way down the pecking order and not wishing to knock his value down yet further by being 'cup-tied' for another UEFA qualified club. This way all options are still open to both Roly and City.

It basically states that Rolando has not made any recent statements so any interviews published in the media is purely speculation and lies made up by the medias in question. Rolando is currenty concentrating on preparing himself for the new season in the Premier League and to play in the imminent important UEFA Cup game.
