Hughes compensation deal reached

MANCHESTER City are close to sealing a deal for Mark Hughes to be their next manager after agreeing compensation with Blackburn.

Hughes was given permission to speak to City yesterday after the club indicated they wanted him to succeed Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Blackburn are understood to have set a figure of £5million compensation for Hughes and his backroom staff and have now agreed a settlement with City.

The club said in a statement: "Blackburn Rovers can confirm they have reached an agreement with Manchester City on compensation terms for Mark Hughes.

"As a consequence the club have given Manchester City permission to speak to Mark."

Sky reporting Chelsea have agreed a deal with Ancelotti. Looks like we have our man. I know some out there have said they would not support him because he used to play for Stretford. Its the club we support, players, managers and Chairmen come and go.

Hughes was my pick last year before we got sge.I pardon all of you who scoffed when I mentioned it. Hughes has an eye for a player,his teams don't lie down and rollover too often. In short he is respected by players & is a good tactician with limited resources.

I have to say that, for me, this is good news. Quite frankly, I don't care a jot if he played for United.

He understands the premiership and is also capable of bringing in players from outside the country and blending them with home grown talent.

I have to say that I am not sure that Ronald' is a good idea, although I suspect that story still has legs.

Right then, c'mon City, lets get this sorted out and then we can all sit back and watch the fun commence! Will Sparky want Ronaldinho? Personally I hope so, its high time City had some real star quality in the side, evn if he is a bit 'iffy' from an injuries and possibly hunger point of view. The fact is, he was being seriously touted as the best player in the World 2 season's back. Form is temporary, class is perminent, and this lad has that in buckets and spades!

£5,000,000 that is just asburd! Sven would be worth three times that.......

I think Hughes is a great manager for Blackburn but £5,000,000 just to sign him is very cheeky!

Mark Hughes would be an excellent appointment, I hope its all tied up tonight/tomorrow because He is the type of manager we need... He's a motivator, will instill discipline and is very shrewd in the transfer market, and he will make us very difficult to beat (no more 8-1's to the likes of boro)... Just hope he can get in there and persuede the likes of Dunnie, Micah, Johnson etc that there future lies with City. P.s. No more Europe through the fair play league...lol

lets hope that hughes agrees to manage city.. but fear that chelsea (who supposedly have agreed p.terms with acelotti, although strenuosly denied by the milanese)may prove more attractive to hughes. fingers crossed, pip..pip...

If he comes then good luck to him and I personally wish him every success. All I strive for is success and glory for my beloved Man City. If that means an ex Man Utd legend is the man to bring it then so be it. Matt Busby I believe played for city in the 30's. I really hope we don't get any brain deads shouting obsceneties at him because he once was a red or holding it against him. That would be petty and misguided. One thing I can say about Hughes is he's got big cahonya's to come to City and take on the challenge being an ex red. Fair play and good luck to him.
