Mexicans: We've got Sven

THE top man in Mexican football claims that Sven-Goran Eriksson will be confirmed as his country's new manager next week.

Mexican Football Federation president Justino Compean claims Eriksson, whose future as City boss has been the subject of intense speculation over recent weeks, has agreed the details of the deal.

Speaking from Sydney, where he has been attending FIFA's annual congress, Compean revealed the Swede beat off competition from Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari to emerge as the federation's number one choice.

He said: "We only seriously considered Scolari and Eriksson. We've sorted out the details with Eriksson and we are about to confirm him.

"We are expecting to reveal the new coach on June 2, so he can be formally unveiled on the next day. It's about to be completed, but as long as we don't have anything signed we cannot reveal anything."

Compean did go on to state, however, that the federation's directors were now unanimous in their choice of the man to succeed Hugo Sanchez.

He added: "We have already talked to the directors and convinced the ones who initially disagreed.

"We take unanimous decisions and the name will be accepted by everyone."

Sven = Enthusiastic at the start and can`t be bothered in the end.

Does that mean that our precious sven is in breach of contract
Hope he doesn't get a penny more from this club the shister!

Sven is definitely gone on Sunday; Frank has said it has dragged on long enough.

Sven has held out wanting a cool £2,000 000 COMPENSATION, he is getting it too, my god he is a canny fellow he has took us and England for over £5,000 000.

“NEXT PLEASE” AHHHH YES MEXICO…………………….

as much as I liked Sven, I will just be relieved to hear some solid, concrete news for the first time in about 6 weeks!!!!

its about time we got it sorted and then we at least know we are on the lookout for our new manager, who I still think will be a while off before he is appointed

can svens agents keep their mouth shut? I bet Sven still gets paid by City for keeping quiet but his agent Athole is perfectly named!!!

It really is time for someone to put an end to this farrago.

Will Sven be taking them to the Euro 2008 cup then?

If Sven gets this Mexico job and not Scolari then I think this increases the chances that Scolari is already pencilled in for our club. All the talk of different names being shortlisted (including the unlikely Avram Grant) has been part of PR spin to take the attention away from Scolari. I think there is a gentleman's agreement in place with Scolari who does not want to be publicly linked with another job while still employed elsewhere (unlike Sven of course).

The story last week that Scolari is arguing over money was another attempt to play down the link. If Dr T wanted Scolari would he really allow him to slip through his fingers for the sake of an extra 500k per year? I don't think so.

Mexicans have got Sven - quick send for Davey Crockett & Jim Bowie!

It's now pointless having a debate about whether Sven should stay or go. His fate is sealed. Avram Grant would be a terrible appointment. Half a season in charge of the most expensively assembled team in the Premiership - and winning nothing - is hardly a good track record.

£2m - that means 5263 season tickets @ £380 a piece. Probably about the whole south stand in terms of Season ticket sales methinks.

Welcome to the chongle Senor Erikkson.

The Doc should now tell Eriksson that he's staying.....and then see what he does.

This Paul Cook fella who Thaksin has bought in reminds me of John Maddocks who Swales brought in.

Maddocks first job was to sack Reidy and appoint "Brian Who". Cook's first job will be to sack Sven and appoint someone else to "the poisoned chalice".

Or perhaps his first job will be to say that he has tied up a deal with "Big Phil" who is also bringing half the Brazil first team with him. I can dream!

I thought we'd hit a 21st century low this time last year, but in true City fashion here we are again.

We all know the events of the past 2months but IMO by far the worse aspect of this sorry tale is the clubs treatment of the long suffering fans. When was the last true communique from the club, have they made any effort to keep us informed? No, all we have to go on is rumour & counter rumour, diddly squat from the club!

Is this anyway to treat a bunch of fans who've put up with so much dross since the late 1970s, NO! We've stayed loyal even with the added pressure of our beloved neighbours success.

So we've opened a store in Thailand, big deal.

Unfortunately I'm starting to detect a change of ethos at the club when the big bucks come first and to hell with the true foundations of the club. We'll soon be no better than the corporate giants of the EPL but WITHOUT the trophies.

I'm completely chuffed off with the whole thing!

Oh, and to add insult to injury we have to share the town with the EPL & CL champions - we could learn a lesson or two.

Very suspect this...

How can Mexican FA claim this when Sven his still under contract to City.

Is he still under contract? or is it all sorted?

Sounds like a load of old Tosh from the Mexicans...

I have always remained a positive Blue over the years and even now i have been believing that Frank has to make the club succeed otherwise he will lose all he invested and lose credit back in Thailand I'm not even totally against the Sven sacking because when looking back over the season even the fantastic first half of the season we werent playing well and were a soft touch but we did manage to sneak through most of these games 1-0 but when we were found out at christmas it was the old days of knowing we wouldnt get a result. I sit and read all the reports and comments like everyone else and always think positively!! I dont want Dunney to leave for example but is he a top quality defender? not for me there are better out there but its finding them!! Everyone is saying we have no money but then i read we are getting Jo Ronaldinho etc. and think well we must have.

However i am starting to hear things that if true i dont know if i can be positive in any way any more and these rumours are the Micah to Man U rumours. I could handle him going abroad for a bucket load of cash or even chelsea or arsenal but if he goes to united that would be it for me we as a club will have accepted our status as being below them in everything we will continue to be a selling club and there will not be much point in carrying on. I have accepted midtable obscurity and relegation battles with the hope that we will one day be bought out by a billionaire who will make us great again make us compete! I thought we had found this and i am still willing to back the club and will always support city no matter what happens to us but if Micah goes to United i'm afraid i will just accept that nothing positive will ever happen at our club again and i will just give up. I will be delighted when we win as always but it will foerever be tainted with a feeling of does it really matter anymore!! the fight and pride in my club is slipping the determination to tell the world that there is another team in Manchester in fact the only team in Manchester is also beginning to wane!! I dont know what to say anymore!! My motto was always "keep the faith" now it should be "love is blind!!"

I cannot blame Sven for looking after himself. If I had been told I was not the man for the job I would be looking round ready for the day I was sacked. I would also wait for the pay off, because he has achieved everything that was asked of him in the the first season. Good luck Sven. I enjoyed watching your team, and would love to have seen where it went in season 2 and 3.

That is in the past now and we need to move on... Who is the next manager? We are not impatient as fans we realise the importance of hitting the ground running. The sooner the better, as we all know this has gone on too long!
