FURIOUS City fans have turned up the heat in the M.E.N. Sport backed 'Save our Sven' campaign.
And the sacked popular boss, who is maintaining a dignified silence over the whole tawdry affair, has thanked the Blues faithful for their show of support at Anfield.
The sell-out 3,000-strong City contingent who travelled to Liverpool vented their anger at Thaksin Shinawatra's decision to axe manager Eriksson at the end of the season.
Supporters unveiled banners, held up the back page of Friday's M.E.N. and repeatedly chanted his name during the 1-0 defeat.
Eriksson told M.E.N. Sport: "I don't get tired of hearing my name. The fans backing made me emotional. It raised the hairs on the backs of my hand and made me freeze. I thank them all.
"I don't think I have ever felt so popular without winning anything but I have felt their warmth since I arrived at the club. They were magnificent.
"This is not the worst time of my footballing life.
Philosophy
"I have a simple philosophy that if you make what you are saying crystal clear then there will be no speculation but if you are not clear then the speculation grows as if you have thrown
a stone into the water - the ripples keep growing.
"It is important to behave in a proper way and all I want now is to see a great performance next week."
City's travelling Blue army was fully aware that the game was being beamed live to Thailand where the club owner Shinawatra, an avid watcher, is staying as he fights to clear his name of corruption charges through the courts and unfreeze some £800 million worth of assets.
They will not be happy, unless the owner dramatically changes his mind, about changing a manager that they have taken to their hearts for the way in which he has increased the Blues standing this season - both on and off the pitch.
More than 10,000 City fans have already signed an online petition condemning chairman Shinawatra's plans to ditch Eriksson after what has been the club's best-ever season in terms of points in Premier League history.
The Blues laid on extra security for their board members who travelled to Anfield.
One of the sustained chants from the City fans was a rousing rendition of `We don't want no Phil Scolari; We don't want no Mourinho; Hey Thaksin; leave our Sven alone' sung to the tune of Another Brick In The Wall by Pink Floyd.
There were several Sweden flags and other banners with `Save our Sven' while others wore specially printed T-shirts proclaiming the same sentiment.
Shinawatra's top Thai aide Pairoj Piempongsant was amongst those in attendance on Merseyside to hear prolonged chanting of the City manager's name from the loyal travelling fans in the Anfield Road End.
What do you think? Have your say.
Sven thanks faithful for backing

I think there are simply a lot of people annoyed that Dr.T. got in first, as some fans have the delusion they decide when the manager is not good enough!
SVEN GORAN ERIKSSON! SVEN GORAN ERIKSSON! SVEN GORAN ERIKSSON!
No amount of shouting Svens name yesterday will change Thaksin mind, but it was great that the fans backed Sven and sang his name.
A great piece of work so called City fans,United fans are so proud of you...of course they want Sven to stay..so next season they can look forward to us playing one up front at home to Stoke...and Sun and "he works his socks off"Vassell providing the belly laughs..Get real,!! the last two results say it all..NO excuses! The owner has rumbled Sven for what he has always been....a con man.Show some ambition, like the owner instead of accepting substandard, mediocre dross!!
Anyone who turns up at Eastlands for a save our Sven demo is either a mentalist or United fan....
Sorry to say this boys - but your deluded to back Sven, yes a good name like Sven - the calm man - a good impressive CV.
But judging throughout the season, did any other team in the premier get a 6-0 drumming to chelski - no - did any other team give the 2-0 lead away -mmmm lets think - no ...
Us fans have been cheated throughout the season - referring back to the derbys, yes we beat the scum and deservedley too...however, where did we fall apart - Svens tactics? no interest from the usual players - Elano being the main culprit - homesick - yet will put his hand out for your hard earned week in and out - going of that dross yesterday, Ball, Dunne, Sun, Elano, Vass - simply garbage -
Sorry to say this - but keep slagging Thaskin will get you nowhere - Me Im right behind him!
If Sven goes - I wish him all the best - but as a Club Manager - hes been sussed out!
And he bought some good players yes, but he cant get any long good playing consistency, and that is the key, Those who are there for the rent and not the shirt should be offloaded rapidly!
Forget the protest - Back your chairman - the one with the money - the one that wants simply the best for our club - hes not stupid!
Frank will do it his way!
Nuff Said
To weak -
Sven is a lovely fella but cannot take the club any further. Eveidence the performance by his selections yesterday. Dunne has shown more than once this eason that he is a poor defender and has been given the runaeound by several strikers this season. The game has to be taken seriously at times yet he is laughing and cracking jokes particularlry when he drops the numerous clangers he makes. He will be the 1st to be chopped and end up at Derby or Newcastle, both managers will fall for him. Johnson has expressed his desire to play for Liverpool another lightweight whimp who cannot be uttered in the same breath as Colin Bell. He like several others in the current team will not achieve any great heights. In this category include, Ireland, Ball Sun Jai, Benjani, Carrido. Sven started well but look at the teams we have struggled against Derby, Sheffield, Bolton, Reading, Middlesbrough, Newcastle simply not good enough. The Dr will sort it you can be sure of that.
nick, hahaha! Now that's funny.
Sven the con man... League and Cup titles all over Europe, quarter final in euro and world cups (when will England go that far again?...). Yes, he is really a joke that Sven, let's kick him out before he completely destroys our fine thai-club.
BRILLIANT POST FRANCO -MY SENTIMENTS IN A NUTSHELL!
Oh, and all jokes aside... nick, blueboy and Franco, time to start supporting chelski maybe? Sounds like the style of RomanA would suit you perfectly.
This is mental, what happened to football?... Ups and downs, support the team for a long term improvement. Football is though, it is not supposed to be easy. I was worried when the thai took over because I thought it would start a "chelsea-transformation" of the team. When I heard he wanted to build for the future and took in Sven with a longterm plan for us I was so relieved. But now it looks like we are going the same way. Instant success, or else!?
How can a Chelsea fan feel pride when they win??? The team is put together by extremely over priced and over payed superstars who couldnt care less if they are there, in Real Madrid or and other huge club. That is not football, that's more like show business.
This year we made big steps towards becoming a top club in the PL. But it is not enough, we need instant success. Come on, people laugh at us, for gods sake I am laughing myself. This is ridiculus.
That said, of course people who think like me will keep supporting the team but that doesnt mean that we do not have the right to react when things like this happen.
Sven is a good guy but I agree that he cannot take the team further. Their playing reflects his character - intellectual, clever, stylish - but with not enough drive and passion. We did well early on when Micah and Dunnie were putting their bodies on the line game after game but the defensive organization has been weak. Corluka is a different type of player and not a fit with Dunnie. And the midfield has also been weak and poorly organized with not enough tracking back. Much work to do in the summer. Hopefully the new manager is in place early enough to get in the players we need and start the bonding.
I bet Stuart Pearce feels proper aggrieved when he sees all the out pouring of grief for Sven after he served up the same dross and received a similar fate as him and nothing ?, its becoming ridiculous now, how many defeats or s**t performances before some of you fans change your mind ?.
I bet frank is starting to wonder what he has let himself in for ?
Of course all you fans no better that’s why we have not won anything for over 36 years, and if some of you have your way long may it continue.
I think some of you enjoy it I really do
Will some one set up a pro-frank site so I can register my vote that I am sick of us being a crap football team and would like to see a decent manager and some decent players grace the football field and that we are happy to go with his judgement on this one ?
Does anyone remember when Diana died and suddenly there was people sobbing everywhere buying flowers and really over doing it ?
They called it mass hysteria?, something similar is happening here I don’t even think Sven can believe it, god forbid if he peggs it any time soon?
Getting rid of Sven is a calamitous mistake. Of course he could take the club to the highest level given the right backing. There is, however, no evidence that Sinawatra has either enough money or enough patience to take the club forward. He ignores 47000 filled seats and just sees the 500 empty ones as wasting money. If, as seems likely, most of the better players depart, whoever is the new manager will have his work cut out keeping the club in the premiership. It is clear that Sinawatra will always interfere with the playing side and this will destroy the club. This last season will be seen as the last good season.
people keep banging on about Sven's CV, however like in any form of business it is NOW and not the past that is important. Sven is a nice guy but hardly blameless in all this - note the way he had a so-called pop at his agent for the comments....seriously guys do you not think Sven is playing his own little game?
CTID and In Frank I Trust
Regardless of what happens to Sven I just find any newspaper bleating about 'Save our Sven' campaigns etc as a bit rich. Its the entire English press that has consistently campaigned against Sven as both England & Man City manager. Now that they have what they always wanted they are suddenly all backing him. Hypocritical is just one word that comes to mind. Sorry but the press is just as much at fault here as our Chairman. The only person showing any dignity here is Sven himself.

SVEN GET OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Watched an hour-long documentary about NIKE last night, 8-9pm EST on CNBC.
Garry Cook...what a great signing (apparently) by Frank. Read a few things about him in trade journals, business weeklies and so on and he seems very respected. The show itself did raise issues about Nike's trade practices to be fair, and though Garry Cook was not mentioned by name, the Jordan subsisdiary was. Taking Nike and Jordan together, and listening to the founder and blokes who run Nike, this Cook is no dope...Nike only hires winners...and Michael Jordan only works with winners. Last year Nike did 16 billion in sales, and I don't recall what the Jordan share was of that, but it was HUGE!
I found my way to a forum after the show that caters to people who love Nike products, especially their footwear. These folks are obsessed with Nike and talk about it the way we talk about City. One comment I thought I'd pass along was that Garry Cook "always gives the masses what they want."
Hmmmm. I hope it works out.
I have just read that the Thai wants the players to bow to him out of respect!!!! does he not know that resect is earned?
I cant really see any fans bowing to him, until he sells up! and probably not even then. We really have to get rid of this nutter... I think a good way is to refuse to purchase anything in the ground. Not buying programmes would demonstrate the measure of our respect by the stack that was unsold. the Half-time draw has really got to be boycotted. And if I parked at the ground.... i would be outside and walk up to the ground. I think that is the only way to let the morn understand.
Here's one to ponder...
Could Sven head up a consortium to buy out City and therefore oust Shinawatra ???
...just an idle thought on a quiet bank holiday Monday...
And if Thaksin was watching back home in Thailand, it will only have strengthened his hand in ditching Sven.
Message to Thaksin Shinawatra - Can you paint the seats so it reads Manchester City like it used to at Maine Road? Also can you sort the music out when the players come out of the tunnel and also the catering the food is terrible. Also can u get us a top manager (who is well hard) and lots of new players like Ronaldihno, Kaka and Gattuso as I have already renewed my season ticket. Thank You. CTID.
I do feel that Sven needs to be given another season to sort things out. This would be fair. We lack grit and determination. On current form we will be fighting relegation next season. I remember us being in a similar position when Big Mal came in for his 2nd term around 1979 at City. Wasted money on Steve Daley, Stepanovic, only goodun that he purchased was Steve Mackenzie. We went into freefall soon after and only when John Bond took over he brought some grit into the team - remember Gerry Gow and Bobby MacDonald - did we recover. I think that we have found ourselves in a state of deja vu here and need some fighters in the team to lift us out of this slump. Plenty of good gritty British midfielders about, we need at least two.
Blue Butler, the quote you have read comes from a daily paper which is about as credible as a news source as the Beano. Bowing is not the way you show respect in Thailand. Any Journo could have looked this simple fact up to add credibility to their story. The fact that in this instance they did not bother shows how poor they are at their own job. Regardless of feelings about our new Chairman, this story is completely untrue and the paper that printed it should be ashamed of itself.

Sven - Fans' support in vain
Nooooooooooo !
I with my two brothers been City fans all our lives 160 years plus and like you all. We yearn for the success we enjoyed under Joe and Malcolm. You too will remember the fantastic signings that were made and the coaxing and bringing into the team Dowd, Pardoe, Oakes, Doyle, Young all true greats with the rest of the team Bell, Summerbee, Lee, Book, Coleman and the magnificent Tony Book. Commitment, enthusiasm, fire in their bellies, passion respect, world beaters every man. If only we could turn back the clock but we and Dr T. can't so Let's accept and admit it. We have been going nowhere for the past 25 years and maybe Frank will be the Catalyst and bring back some glory to the club. Let's face it this ex Prime Minister is not going to be messed about with and from what we have seen so far is determined and in some ways already taken us out of the dark age. Finishing 9th in the Premier is good and encouraging but we need to be at number 1 and I do not believe that Sven and his managment Team can get us there. Lovely people absolute gents best behaviours displayed at all times but maybe too nice we need a B..... like Ferguson. Producing spin and encouraging his players to win at all costs.
Evidence this against West Ham when Nani assaulted Neil and could have blinded him and should now be heavily fined and banned for 15 matches. Chase and harrass the match officials, have few penalties given against you on your home ground and here we seem to have a winning combination. Ask Mr Curbishley he is an expert on the subject and judging by the non appearance of most of his team on Saturday contributed significantly to the Winning of the Premier this year. Mr Grant has a right to be angry and voice his concerns.
