Musampa's Canadian trial

FORMER Manchester City midfielder Kiki Musampa is on a one-week trial with Major League Soccer side Toronto FC.

The 30-year-old Dutch midfielder started his career in Ajax's famous youth system and had spells with Bordeaux, Malaga, Atletico Madrid and Trabzonspor as well as City for whom he played 41 games between 2004-06.

Musampa, who was released by Dutch club AZ Alkmaar on January 1, is a free agent and was initially linked with a move to either Korea or Japan. Yet he has begun a one-week trial with Toronto at their pre-season camp in Bradenton, Florida.

The Canadian side recorded a first victory under incoming coach John Carver on Saturday with a pre-season 2-0 win over the Kansas City Wizards.

Toronto play again on Sunday with a friendly against the United States under-17 side.

That is great news! Toronto F.C.have been an instant success here and it would be good to see an ex-Blue. I remember him scoring against Liverpool which won ue the game.
Only problem with Toronto is that they play in red....a shame really.

Steve...don't know how long you've been watching City but to say that Kiki is our worst ever player is way off the mark....comapred to the likes of Silkman,Conlon,Brannan,Frontzek,Creaney.....???
The REAL stuff of nightmares!!That bunch make Kiki look like Kaka!

He was actually technically very good, and anyone who says otherwise is just an idiot.

I didn't know about his swearing at the City fans misdemeanours - but still, he was a decent player. Same as Riera who never had a chance to settle in in my opinion - and is showing his best form now, and has even got into the Spanish national side.

Musampa had an odd ability to ALWAYS just manage to hold onto the ball. He rarely ever got dispossessed, though his passing and work rate weren't all that on occasions unfortunately.

Still - old news! So who cares?

Always thought his brother was a better player chris musampa ha ha.

Not the best be he had his moments. As a lifelong City fan, and a Toronto FC Season Ticket holder, I'm excited to see Kiki on trial (and rumour has it that Huckerby might be next). The pace of the game here would suit Kiki as long as he can get into good shape.

God to be an average footballer eh? Get to play for some fairly decent clubs, and then God's own club, experience differnet cultures, make a good amount of money then retire to a club who will think you are a God of European football.

All the best!

Don't start on Edgy again! I still have nightmares about how he was treated in his last season for us despite his many years at the club.

Not a bad player - last minute winner against Liverpool anyone? A special moment. Good luck to him.
And no, let's not start slagging Edghill. The treatment of him by so-called City "fans" was disgraceful, not to mention embarassing.
