Blues braced for Fazackerley raid

CITY are bracing themselves for an approach from Newcastle United for coach Derek Fazackerley.

Fazackerley worked with newly-installed Toon boss Kevin Keegan at St James' Park previously and followed him to England and then City.

Meanwhile, deposed keeper Andreas Isaksson is not angry that his fellow Swede Sven-Goran Eriksson has dropped him in favour of Joe Hart and dismissed the notion that the two of them had endured a major fall out.

"It's the manager's decision to drop me, my relation with Sven is OK," Isaksson told sources in his homeland.

"Sven understands that I want to leave the club. Then it's up to the clubs in a future deal. I have to play.

"I'm trying to find a new club, but no-one has been in contact yet."

And The Sun have reported that Nedum Onuoha is attracting the interest of Aston Villa, with Martin O'Neill considering a £6million swoop.

Fazackerley leaving would give Sven an opportunity to bring in a new coach.

I think it would be a benefit, some new ideas to compliment Sven and Bakke.

Has anyone else resigned themselves to not seeing any new signings this window?

Anyway, this is how I see it.....

This time last season we were all looking at our remaining fixtures and thinking "where on earth will we pick up enough points to get to the 40 point mark"

This season we are there already and thinking "Uefa cup or Champions league"

Last season we couldn't score a goal at home, never mind win a game.

This season we are imperious! unbeaten and playing good football.

Can't get too upset about Faz, but I'm worried about them thinking of letting Nedum go. Nedum is a better centre back than Micah, Micah performs better at right back and up the wing, and Charlie is better in midfield. Think this may be a knee-jerk to the Everton defeat. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water!

I had almost forgotten that Derek Fazackerley was still at City. I thought it was a complete "Swedish" set up these days. But all you folks slagging him off and sending him on his way, should maybe pause and think what a FANTASTIC defensive showing we have put on this season, right across the back four. OK we have lapses in defending certain things, but that brilliant defence has been the mainstay for our superb season so far. If he does go - then wish him well. Don't put the guy down as if he has done nothing for us over the years.

on nedum, i dont know i think he's fast but a bit one footed, good in the air. but dosen't attack much. apart from the first game against west ham. i would prefer corluka or micah there. maybe try and do a swap for gareth barry...

City, please do not let Ned go anywhere. He is a cracking defender and young and is perfect for cover across the back. We need to be holding onto players like him, especially as Micah hasn't signed a new contract yet!
Rumour mill has it that SWP may be looking for more first team action and would like to join KK at Newcastle?? I personally think we should go all out to bring him back. Imagine Petrov and SWP on each wing!!

I really like Nedum, but am thinking planA+planB

Plan A ask for 8m.

Plan B : 10m kitty + 8m Bianchi + 8m Nedum = Berbatov = extra 15 - 25 goals a season.

Ned is still too nervous for my liking and I'd be tempted in taking £6m thats a lot of money for him, we could use it toward signing Cheinelli Sven seems so impressed with.

Still I think he is developing very well but I'm still 50/50 about it.

Can't understand these posters who want to see Faz go. Our defensive record is excellent and if Sven (in whom we all trust) wanted shut, he would have sent him on his way already. Please explain your reasons for wanting rid, I'd really like to know.

I would wonder about the validity in anything that the Sun writes. If it is true, £6m is a lot of money for a player who has yet to really establish himself. I like Nedum and maybe he would make a better centre half than right back. I personally would like to see him there, with Richards on the flank.
There must however be some doubts as to his ability to withstand the rigours of a full season as he has spent an awful lot of time on the treatment table dueing the past couple of seasons.

The Pope, I agree. I think Sven is not too convinced about Nedum. He's young, can defend well, but his buildup play most of the time is ... not very good, Sven would say. 6 million is a lot for a defender, and I will not be surprised if Sven comes up with a defender (rightback or centreback) that improves our build-up play form the back. It's easier to defend than to pass the ball.
As for Faz, I wouldn't mind him staying put or move to Newcastle. Sven obviously rates him as he is still a part of the team.
