Manchester City

Castillo's double aim

DETERMINED: Nery Castillo
CITY'S loan signing sensation Nery Castillo is looking forward to enjoying his football again at City - and is out for revenge on United too.

The Mexican revealed he had a trial with the Reds a few years ago, but a deal never happened and he subsequently played for Olimpiacos and Shakhtar Donetsk.

Castillo said: "I've still got photos with Sir Alex and all of the players, but it was just a work permit which stopped me playing for them. Maybe now I can get my revenge on them with City."

The 23-year-old was keen to leave Ukraine and even paid part of the loan fee, although he was guarded about how much he paid and why.

But he declared: "I have been happy since day one. I have been well treated by everyone.

"I don't want to look back at my experiences in Ukraine just forward. I don't want to go into detail about the deal that brought me here but I can tell you that as soon as I heard about City's interest I wanted to come. I have already seen that City play good football and the enjoyment the manager puts into the training and what the players get from it.

"That is a total contrast to what I have been used to in the last few months."

Red tape means that Castillo may not play until the FA Cup tie at West Ham on January 5.

The player, who is already in training with the Blues, needs Premier League clearance and the FA are working closely with City to try to make sure the relevant papers arrive in time from his Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk.

What do you think? Have your say.

So are we going to follow the trend in rugby and have a pink change stip. Its just that with players called Valerie, Nery's it might br the time for coming out of the closet.

Very happy that we have Nery even if it's for a year.He may just fire in the goals that make all the difference to where we are in May ..He's a very talented player

Okay, bartender, give me a Rolando Bianchi with ice, a glass of Nery Castillo, a packet of Arthur Dawkins nuts, a Petrov and lemonade, a Garrido and lime, and a bottle of Blumer Elano 2007,
and none of those flat crap drinks you`ve been trying to sell me like Andy P. Pee, Mick the Red Fireman Muck, Wunderkid non-alcoholic nonsense, and all those other sub-standard drinks.
And a Happy Christmas and New Year to all intelligent football fans and also to United supporters.

Terrorise and entertain please Nery.

City fans will love you until your last breath if you entertain.

Oh, and fulfil your defensive duties too. Cheers.

Wouldn't it be just perfect for him to bang in the winner at the chicken nugget arena in February, go over to the Rag fans and do the old "kissing the badge" bit. It would be like Jim Bowen in Bullseye "come and av a look at what you could av won"

You've gone to a better place, Nery! Bienvenidos!

does anybody know if we have the first option to buy him at the end of his year loan

Bet Rooney, Ronaldo, Giggs, Tevez, Nani, Carrick, Scholes, Hargreaves are just happy that he's come to City? Bet they were very worried about keeping their places in the team?

Why cannot the FA pre register players? Its really flippin silly. His season has finished so surely their transfer window is open like ours is in June/July/August. He should be allowed to play at Newcastle. The game is in January hence the window is open. Come on Mr Barwick do something constructive for once.

From the clips i have seen he is a right selfish little sod, arguing about who will take a penalty at Shaktar, even grabbing the ball off a team mate. Looks like spoilt little kid to me. Good luck with our reject!!

Dyin to watch Castillo on youtube but my quicktime player has a question mark in the middle. Have tried software update, deleting and re installing etc etc. Can anyone help. I have a mac.

The delay in registration might be a good thing long term. Extra time to settle in with training, and also he will be an unknown quantity to West Ham in the cup game. We might need a surprise in that game because it will be a tough fixture.

I like this guys attitude already. Its like listening to a young Alfons Groenendijk.

Who thinks that despite all that has been said City are actually starting to believe they nick a top 4 spot? There is not just optimism round the club but a genuine sense of confidence I have never known. Don't get me wrong we'll need to sign some quality in the window, particularly an experienced keeper (I have heard Cudicini could be on the cards). If we get that quality and they all play well (if Castillo hits top fitness and form he'll be frightening), I just don't think top 4 is out of the realms of possibility. Spurs was a wake-up call and if they react as positively to that defeat as they did to the one at Stamford Bridge I think we could nick Liverpool or Chelsea's spot.

Well its another addition to the squad, and competition for
places.Let's hope he has the same impact as Goater who was
also on the rags books & then
saw the light. To all City fans, have a great xmas & let's hope this xmas period is as successful as last years.

The sooner Castillo and Bojinov and AN other are vin the side, the sooner we can actually put the ball in the opponants net.Until then rest assured that Vassell,Mpenza and Samaras will be either missing sitters or more likley be in some defenders back pocket.Merry Christmas to everyone back home in Manc Land, especially Blackleyites.(really missing The White Lion and The Grove).

Mozza_100 - good call mate. Cudicini is a class act and would be a great signing.

Rather him than Lehman anytime.
