City meet Hammers in Cup

MANCHESTER City will travel to West Ham in the third round of the FA Cup.

And Sven-Goran Eriksson will hope the trip to Upton Park can kick start his side’s poor away form this season, with the Hammers providing City with their only win on their travels in the league this term.

The Blues won 2-0 on the opening day of the season – but since then have lost at Arsenal, Blackburn and Chelsea, and on Saturday were held to a 1-1 draw at struggling Wigan.

Eriksson knows the away form must be rectified soon.

“I don’t have the answer to why we play better at home than away, but I wish we could," said the Swede.

Sven, thats the silliest thing you have said since you came.
"I wish I knew" !! Your tactics away from home lend nothing to attack and we sit on our own penalty box for the whole of the 90 minutes.
We've played the same system since day one and the test of a good side is being able to adapt and change when needed.

if we win, we win, if not so what, id settle for a win against spurs in carling cup, forget f,a,cup. i know what people say about a good cup run, but i reckon this cup could hamper our chances of getting a place in europe, so lets concentrate on the carling cup. and a good run in the league....

I think we'll get beat by West Ham and then start to loose alot in the league, maybe the start of a relegation scrap as usual for city.

Lets change our system for away games we have the players to try 3-5-2 My team wold be something like :- GK HART BACK 3 CORLUKA DUNNE RICHARDS RWB ONNUHA LWB GARRIDO MID FIELD IRELAND FERNANDEZ or HAMMAN PETROV STRIKERS ELANO BIANCHI.Come on Sven give it a thought. just watched the spurs game. we must go into the game against them with a 4-4-2 formation. they are bobbins at the back, we must attack. instead of trying to catch them on the break, forget samaras sven. we need bianchi with elano up front. this team is there for the taking.....

Re Donald Farrer :- Just go away with comments like yours you must be a rag if not you are not the sort of fanwe need. Have you not forgot the dross we put up with last season. Sven is taking us on a jorney to the promised land and yes there will be hicups on the way but a relegation battle this season no way! A cople of big signings in jan and we will be on our way again. in sven i trust CTID

Firstly i think West Ham will be More dissapointed with the Draw than we Will. Personally i think we will Beat them considorring we will have signed players in Jan for Them Maybe. As for Spurs Next week we need to Come away with a Draw at Worst i think.

I PROMISE not to moan if we ATTACK spurs and hammers in the cup games with 2 up front but lose 3-2 or 4-3 ! Come on Sven, as the others say, give it a go ....

I would love to do well in the Cup but looking at the bigger picture life is so good right now that whatever else happens this season we should be proud that we are approaching each game with the possibility of victory. under pearce if we went one down we all thought we were done.
A couple of signings in January and we are well equipped of a top six finish. I don't post alot but read all of the time and I must admit I am getting fed up with all the negative stuff that some blues are posting.
We're now 5th after Liverpools win today, we've played nearly half of the season and are level on points with UTD and not far off the top of the league.
Some say we've been lucky but I say the table doesn't lie. We can all speculate on who Sven should bring in but who are we? We don't scout the world and just cause their good on FM2008 doesn't mean we should sign them. Sven knows best. In Sven we trust.

We should sign Younis Kaboul - he is garbage for Spurs (similar to how Distin was when he came here) But he the most promising French youngster for years and now is the best time to get him cheap.

You just know they will do a Chelsea on us (Avram Grant new in post beats us 6-0) Ramos will get a reaction from his players after today.

I have absolutely no expectations of us getting anything away from home UNTIl at least 4 new players have been signed - Fulham, Portsmouth, Wigan Draws = pretty pathetic! but hey we are a team on the up!

How can this FA-Cup draw lead to the subject of the awayform beats me. I know the press have something to go on about. City is abysmall away from home. Keep telling everybody ...
Difficult draw, but so what. Playing good and exciting games is good for the young players. And we are not in Europe this year, so let's try and have a good run in both cupcompetitions to get as man games as possible.
